Through our friends at Video Game Music Database and Amazon (thanks to JapaneseGIRL for providing the link to the latter), we now have confirmation that there is a new Ace Attorney album by the name of 'Gyakuten Saiban Piano Arrange' coming out on April 23. So far, all we have to go on is the release date, but looking at past releases it's probably safe to assume that this will be another arrange by Noriyuki Iwadare; composer for Trials and Tribulations, both Investigations games, Dual Destines and the previous orchestrated and jazz albums. Considering these were all spectacularly composed albums, this is definitely a must-listen for anyone needing a new Ace Attorney musical fix in the coming months.

I'm searching around for other word of this, and I can't seem to find any mention of the album elsewhere besides VGMdb. Have you got any other sources? (VGMdb is editable by anyone, if I'm not mistaken, so I'm a little reluctant to take them as a primary source.)

I just did some research and unfortunately, I see nothing quite yet. Apologies, I may have jumped the gun a bit :edgey: I'll do some more research, and edit my post once and if I find some corroborating evidence :phoenix:

It's no problem! We've all jumped the gun on things from time to time. And it would be very cool if this turned out to be true.

Glad to hear it :phoenix: To be honest, part of the reason I jumped the gun is BECAUSE of how cool it'd be if it was true. I'm STILL listening to that jazz arrangement at least a couple times a week :trucy:

Official Japanese Website Updated about the product

http://www.capcom.co.jp/gyakutensaiban/ ... 25_01.html

At first, I thought it was another piano sheet music with the same exact tracks.
I was veeery confused. Turns out I'm an idiot.

I'm very curious who's going to play the piano in the album... crossing my fingers that it's not gonna be a straight performance, or even worse, a MIDI transcription of what is exactly in the piano book. I own both the books and the arrangements are definitely for beginners... as it says in the title "やさしいピアノソロ".

:wellington: (それでも買いますけどね) :wellington:
Check out my SoundCloud for Ace Attorney Transcriptions. And even AA style remixes of Nintendo music. .... Yeah, so basically a lot of Ace Attorney stuff.

Oh, and I'm Japanese.

Well to play the arrangements as according to the book would be beginner's work, but there is no garauntee that this arrangement won't be more... well... fancy :ron: Personally, I'm hoping it will be :phoenix:

I'm optimistic about that. The previous albums have been reasonably sophisticated, so there's no good reason this one wouldn't be. Sure, it may be too much to expect Final Fantasy Piano Collections levels of greatness, but it'll still probably be pretty solid.

Normally I would want to avoid a double post, but I feel like it's been long enough since the last one.

The full track list is now on the album's Amazon page, and if Google Translate is being accurate here, I think the first 11 tracks are arrangements from the previously released sheet music, while the last 8 tracks are original (and, I hope, more complex) arrangements. If I'm reading correctly, the entire track list should read as follows:

1. GS1 Courtroom Suite (Easy Piano Ver.)
2. GS1 Investigation Medley
3. Detective Gumshoe's Theme [?]
4. Detention Center ~ The Guards' Elegy
5. Steel Samurai Theme
6. Blue Badger Theme
7. Stupid People
8. Victory! ~ The First Victory
9. Pearl's Theme
10. Terujotko Ellis ~ Simple Melody
11. Swingin' Zenitora
12. GS1 Courtroom Suite (CD ver.)
13. Turnabout Sisters theme
14. GS2 Courtroom Suite
15. Berry Big Circus
16. Edgeworth's "Great Revival"
17. GS3 Courtroom Suite
18. Fragrance of Dark Coffee
19. Objection Medley

Perhaps someone who actually knows Japanese can confirm if this is correct?

It's Lotta's theme, a.k.a. the track that many people confuse as "Congratulations, Everyone!" but actually translates to "Naive/Carefree People".

There are two versions of the GS1 Court Suite Medley (one the easy piano solo ver.; the other the CD original) included for a total of 19 tracks.

Note: I stick with "Announce the Truth" because it's been stuck that way. A more "accurate" translation could be "The Truth Announces", but even that is loose interpretation.

Sweeeeeeet. I have all the soundtracks on my phone and I always ignored her teem because it didn't appeal to me. I found out recently that the song gets hauntingly beautiful 40 seconds in, so I'm glad it's being orchestrated

Now we just need the Trés Bien theme

Agreed on Elise's theme; it's such an underrated track, I suppose because 'thoughtful' pieces aren't as arguably catchy as the rest of the soundtracks (which I happen to have on my phone as well :phoenix: ), but it is very beautiful :trucy: I wouldn't say no to a Tres Bien theme either; it's a wierd piece of music to me primairly because of the... unique character it represents, but it is undeniably upbeat and catchy :trucy: Speaking of AA3 character themes, maybe this just me, I think Dahlia's theme might sound quite interesting on piano; it's a very slow and thoughtful track, so I think it could work well for this sort of arrange :godot:

Damn it.
On one hand I find it great that there's gonna be a new Ace Attorney arrangement album, no doubt. On the other hand I find it kinda sad that they're arranging songs that have been arranged in the past. I wish they could make something like a Dual Destinies arrangement album, because some songs like A Magnificent Visitor or Our Secret Word Is Justice would be perfect to remix/arrange! But hey the selection of songs we've got is really cool! :will: I can't wait for Dick Gumshoe ~ I'm Detective Gumshoe, Pal, Steel Samurai Theme and Miles Edgeworth ~ Great Revival :edgey:

Agreed, pal :sadshoe: I love any and all remixes from the main PW trilogy, but some arranges of themes outside the 'core games' would be nice, particularly given the number of excellent themes from Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and the Investigations games that are quite underutilized :trucy:

I usually don't listen to much video game music, but Ace Attorney has such a beautiful soundtrack! Piano is my favourite instrument, so I think this album will be really good! The cover is really nice as well.

I haven't been able to find any videos/downloads of the album but I did find this:

It's a piano version of The Bitter Taste of Truth (one of the better reminiscence themes. Shame it only played once)

EDIT: Quick first impressions: the arrangements that are original to this album (tracks 12-19) are far richer and more enjoyable than the ones taken from the simple arrangement sheet music (big surprise). The courtroom suites for GS1 and GS2 are particularly fun to listen to.

As promised, here is the full collection in a handy playlist. I've actually uploaded all of this before listening to it properly, so it'll be a first for me as well. Have fun listening, guys!

^ Some tracks are as they appear in the GS piano sheet books, others are original arrangements for this CD (I think)

Man, I'm not ashamed to admit that I got misty-eyes during Elise Deauxnim's theme (no pun intended). I keep thinking of Maya consoling Pearl and then finding the Maya/Mia picture of the broken urn

Gyakuten Saiban Piano Arrange: Review
In the past, Capcom has been very kind to the Ace Attorney series with extravagant and high-quality arrangements of music from the series, with the two "Gyakuten Meets Orchestra" performances and "Gyakuten Meets Jazz Soul" album all being excellent. Small wonder, then, that many of us were excited when we heard there was an album of piano arrangements in the offing (I suspect some of us, with the amazing Final Fantasy Piano Collections in mind, were watering at the mouth just thinking about it).

Sadly, Capcom does not seem to have compiled this arrange album with the same degree of lavish care and attention that the previous ones got. A little over half of the album (11 tracks) consists of arrangements taken from the sheet music that Capcom previously published, which is billed as being "for beginners." This fact shows in these first eleven tracks, with most of them clocking in at less than two minutes in length. This is not to say that none of them is worth listening to, as I think the sparse simplicity of the arrangements actually worked in favor of Detention Center ~ Elegy of the Guards and Elise Deaxnim ~ Gentle Melody. Save for these and Turnabout Courtroom ~ Courtroom Melody, however, I found the rest of the sheet music arrangements unremarkable.

Where "Gyakuten Saiban Piano Arrange" really shines is in the last 8 tracks, which are arrangements original to this album. Again, this shows clearly as these arrangements are noticeably richer and more complex than the previous ones. Even these are not all gems, though, as I thought some, including "Great Revival ~ Reiji Mitsurugi" and "Godot ~ The Fragrance of Black Coffee," were bland compared to the brilliant arrangements of these songs we have enjoyed from previous albums. Quite honestly, I also wonder who in the world thought "Berry's Big Circus" was deserving of a place on this album (as opposed to, say, the Detention Center themes from GS2 and GS3, both of which actually incorporate the piano). Overall, it's just too bad and more than a bit puzzling that Capcom didn't go to the trouble of making the entire album in the richer style of the last eight tracks.

In closing, I'm aware that I have sounded quite negative in this review, but make no mistake, this album contains some bright spots such as the three Courtroom Medleys (non-sheet music versions), the Turnabout Sisters theme, and as I mentioned before, "Elegy of the Guards" and "Elise Deauxnim." I'm not sure these alone are worth a purchase, though, considering the album is going for roughly $30 on various websites. Don't take my word for it, of course, check out the tracks yourself that Muh Feenie has so kindly uploaded for us. Still, I'm guessing most people will want to take a pass on this one.

Nice review! Unfortunately, I agree. I'm kind of disappointed with this one

Some song choices are very bizarre. I'm fine with choosing underrated songs for albums (like Elise Deauxnim's theme, which was the highlight for me), but why in all hell did they choose the Blue Badger song? It's 22 seconds long and sounds like it's being player with 1-2 fingers at all times. I feel bad for any Japanese consumer who bought that song off iTunes at full price

Some of my favorite themes (Pearl and Gumshoe) were completely forgettable. I also don't understand why the courtroom themes took up three spots on the album when the Objection medley was one spot

Anyway, I would've rather had them do Turnabout Sisters 2002 than 2001 or Ema Skye's variation. I also kind of wish these albums dropped Godot's theme. I would prefer if they did a rendition of Dahlia's theme, more reminiscence themes (Scars Carved by Fire and Steel Samura's Ballad come to mind), Investigation ~ Middle 2002, Trés Bien, or a Pursuit theme. I didn't hate the album but I would've liked more. It would've been nice if some songs transitioned into others like the GK2 Orchestra album. With that, i was initially disappointed with the lack of some themes, but was floored when GE's theme transitioned into the IS-7 incident or when the Pursuit theme transitioned into Trifle of Fate. How great would it have been if Godot's theme transitioned into The Bitter Taste of Truth or Dusky Bridge? Or the Steel Samurai's into the SS's Ballad? I would've loved that. Instead, what you see is what you get
