True that case was a bit confusing... although I blame the freaking black-white pictures, I seriously thought the picture was simply grainy and not showing anything that somehow indicated that it was raining on that day. Why even have black-white pictures, considering this was made in 2003 and takes place in 20...2019, I think, where HD or even just plain color pictures are the norm.

One would be Final Fantasy X. It's funny how far I got in X-2 but in the original game I couldn't get past Seymour. Yeah. I know it's embarrassing.

The other would be Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns. While I know most HMs are slow-paced I could handle them without losing patience and/or interest ( Even AWLse! ) ToTT's plot sure wasn't enough to get me interested. I was even excited to play it to the point I bought the game as soon as it released in my country. With no sense of direction, I kept getting lost in-game ( There was a map for the town but not for the mountains I reckon. ) and would only find my way home around midnight or so. Worse, you couldn't save anytime. I might get back to it someday. Not very sure. :yuusaku: HM fans, don't hunt me. ; n ;

Ah listen you should go back an try X again it's good fun and Seymour has one trick you can always use. He always casts his spells in a set order so just have Yuna cast her Nul-element spells to block him completely. Then when he summons Anima have her bring out summons to block Anima's biggest attacks, even better if you charge the summon's overdrives before the battle starts so they'll come out bomb Anima and then block his biggest attacks.

As Pierre said, Null spells for Seymour. And then bring out the new sumon. Shiva, cause everybody knows it's Shiva and having her name be ???? made no sense. She alone should be enough to get rid of Anima...

As for Twin Villages, I kinda agree... I sort of rushed and once I got married, I just felt like the game didn't give me anything more interesting. Similar to Grand Bazaar, I just don't like the system in those games. Watering the plants twice a day to speed up their growth? Great. Downside, I water at 6, talk to everyone and take care of the animals: I'm done by about 10 AM. Afterwards I just have nothing to do and I have to wait until around 4-6 PM to water the plants again.
Plus the whole Saving Only When Going To Bed and the No Weather Prediction being really annoying. The former doesn't bother me too much, but the latter is just stupid. Why is there no weather prediction in the game?

Some of the Harvest Moon games on the DS are just... not that great...

Games that immediately come to mind is:
The first Trauma Center: I don't think I even managed the first operation, I had no idea wtf to do and lost my patience with it VERY fast. Only turned it on once or twice I believe.

This pains me to say... Zelda Majoras Mask: I love Zelda games, even though, admittedly, I've only bothered to play maybe half of them. I just couldn't do MM. The whole reversing time after 3 days really grated on me, I'd spend half the time grinding for bombs or arrows or whatnot, only to reverse time and lose them all? Why? D= My hoarding can't cope with that maaaan. I need full bombs and arrows all the time maaaan.
Also there was a boss I had to kill quite literally 4-5 times so I could progress to this area blocked by ice or snow, but I was never quick enough to do what I needed before time ran out, reverse time, and the snow and ice would come back. It frustrated the HELL out of me at the time that I just gave up on the game.

Now that you mention it, I never finished Majora, either. By the time I get the Zora Mask, despite having only done two or three sidequests, I am so bored of the game that I'd rather start a new file than take a break and continue the game later on.

Pokemon Firered. I managed to get to the elite four, but my Pokemon were under leveled compared to the 49-60 leveled pokemon they had.

Megaman X6. Even with the utimate armor, the game radomely decides when it wants to be fair. And the farestest I've gotten is the castle where you fight High Max(Darned spikes!).And I tried to complete it with the shadow armor, but I can't because of the terrible level design! :tigre:

Games that have defeated me....... Oh where do I begin?

Pokemon Blue. First time playing it got whooped hard by Brock due to using a Charmander.......

Harvest Moon Save The Homeland. One year was the limit and gave up on it. Never played it again. That one year bullshit seriously..... Harvest Moon Back To Nature gave me 3 years to become friends with the villagers.

Yea but to do that you gotta spend a lot of time with giving items to whoever the hell you want to get the event with..... Which is quiet boring...... In the remake they changed it a lot >_>

Yeah and they made it worse, in my opinion. I dunno, I feel like saying Sugarville and Everyone's Wish (or Hero of Leaf Valley, the English title) expanded things, sure... no 1 Year Only gameplay, you can actually marry and play the game afterwards. But I think the game is just... so... boring! And it feels so slow~! I'm in Summer Year 1 and am trying to get the Gwen's squirrel and Lyla's Blue Mist Flower events and all, and I feel so bored and slow in the game...

I got the GBA version for Christmas in 2004. It was the very first video game I ever played. It has a charming underwater graphical style, but it's only a decent side-scroller. It took me forever to figure out the later section as a kid.

Hey Pierre, I wouldn't discount the console versions entirely. It got fairly decent reception and Play Magazine called the PS2 version "A full blown AAA platformer."

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. I could probably have managed to beat it if your magicka regenerated like in later installments, the journal and map were slightly more helpful, and if you didn't MISS your attacks constantly in some sort of ill-fitting luck-based system. Still a great game though, and I really should go back to it and beat it for real.

I got the Gamecube version for Christmas, and while it was a great game, i got stuck in a weird puzzle near the end and no matter how hard i try i couldn't beat it, for almost 10 years it's been sitting on my shelf without completion...

The more I think about it, the more I realize that a lot of the Professor Layton question and math puzzles are like SAT questions. It was always a tradition of me to buy the new Layton game when school started, since they usually came out in the Fall. It made me feel smarter. :yogi:

I still haven't gotten Azran Legacy yet because I'm too busy and still haven't finished Dual Destinies yet. However, I still intend to see one of my favorite video game franchises to end! A true gentleman always finishes what he started.

That was brilliant... Yet a tad unnerving.

I'd still play it though, the world needs more Layton.

It is really hard to tell.
It's just so UNMOTIVATING to play.

Combat is not as satisfying as it might be, most of the moves are totaly useless, as most enemies kick you out of focus (kind of a meter build up to gain more magic orbs) too fast with stupid little attacks.
Hordes of little enemies can be killed with grab-attacks, making most of your other attacks boring and not needed.
Too many passages, that have to be revisited with new aquired skills, too much linearity, a boring main character oh and a story, so predictable, it hurts.

I don't even know, it just doesn't make CLICK! for me and rubs me on the wrong side in so many ways, it ain't even funny.
Oh yeah, did I mention the boring-ass puzzles?

The fixed camera-angles don't help much either.
I can't really understand all the praise it got /flame + dissapointment

I really miss a successor to Curse of Darkness, that was a great game which made the perfect transition from 2D to 3D-Castlevania-games, keeping its spirit while adding new things like the Innocent Devils (dunno, if that's the actual name, played it on German).
Also, all of the different Weapons you can build and obtain.

LOS is just: "Rush from one place to another, kill boss, gain EXP and buy useless moves, thx4playing".

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the Gamecube. I never got past the part where you have to sneak into the library for the first time. I always get caught every single time. :beef:

Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, the part that I couldn't get past was the one where you have to sneak into the library to get the book on the Chamber of Secrets, or something like that.

It's the cliched answer to games that defeat gamers, but seriously Ninja Gaiden for the NES has kicked my ass so hard to this very day. I can get past everything, EXCEPT FOR THE FUCKING SECOND BOSS. That's right, World 6 which is the bottom pit of video game hell, I can beat. All those enemies that cover the entire screen, it took awhile, but I figured out the tactics to get past them.

BUT! As soon as I get to the second final boss, my playing goes to shit and I die in a matter of seconds. This is something that's bothered me for YEARS. And I'm not talking about any save state BS, I'm talking about an actual NES, controller, and cartridge. You die, you go back to the beginning of World 6. Part of me wants to practice on an emulator on that specific point, but come on! No kid in the 1980s-1990s ever did that.

I have to face this like a man and beat it the REAL way. My honor as a gamer depends on it. Mark my words, Ryu Hayabusa! I will finish your quest to avenge your father one day!

Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, the part that I couldn't get past was the one where you have to sneak into the library to get the book on the Chamber of Secrets, or something like that.

Loved that game as a kid.

Nyeh, allow me to bitch and moan about how, in the book, things were vastly different. There's no need to sneak into the library, considering they learn of the Chamber of Secrets from Professor Binns, the history teacher. The only book they need from the library is Most Potente Potions to make polyjuice potion. And they get that with permission through a teacher's signature.

I played that game on the GBA and it was... okay... stuff added in that made no sense. Then again, at least that felt like A GAME, compared to those later "Harry Potter the Movie: The Game" ones out there on the 360 and such. When will videogame developers learn that you can't just turn a movie into a game and expect it to be good?

Dunno, if I'll ever touch it again.

Aaaand the first Trauma Center-game.
In the Bomb-Defusing level, I had like no idea what to do.

Trauma Centre isn't so bad. You just need to practice each level several times and you'll make it to the final boss eventually.

The extra hard trials afterwards though... I only managed to complete the first one I believe
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

Somehow, I've managed to beat X7 in both UtK and UtK2. I don't know how... But I have.
