Sometimes, "soon" really does mean soon! Dual Destinies for iOS is now available in English worldwide!

The first episode of the game is free, with the remaining content priced as follows:

Cases 2-5 bundle: €13.99 / $18.99 AUD / $14.99 US
Separate cases 2-5: €4.49 / $6.49 AUD / $4.99 US
Turnabout Reclaimed: €4.49 / $6.49 AUD / $4.99 US
Costume Set: €0.89 / $1.29 AUD / $0.99 US

Thanks to Ash for gathering together this info, and to various contributors for sending it in!

Downloading it right now. From what I've seen so far, I'd go as far as to say this is the definitive version. If apple would release tablets with physical buttons it would be the best system ever. (WHERE ARE ALL THE 3DS GOODIES, NINTENDO!?"

This is cheaper than the 3DS version....seriously CAPCOM give the 3DS version a price cut now. For $29.99 you better be releasing physical copies now. Layton vs Wright is retailing for $29.99 and it has a physical copy.

You can buy the full game plus all extras for less than the 3DS download sells for.

I'm about to finish up Case One on my iPad Mini, but I may already be inclined to agree. The game looks to have carried over from the 3DS splendidly, with none of the jankiness one would expect coming off the AA1-3 Trilogy iOS port.

Text scrolling, animation, and framerate is just as smooth as the original, made all the better thanks to the higher resolution. (Though sadly, there's still that hint of slowdown when the camera pans around the court room from the gallery perspective.) Playing the game with headphones on, the quality of the sound hasn't taken any hits either, so compression doesn't appear to be an issue. And here's something of a godsend: the music boasts a FAR higher volume output than the 3DS version ever did. On its default level, it's already a marked improvement, and they even have separate volume adjusters for both Music and Sound Effects so you can bump 'em up even higher. (My personal preference is Music at max level, Sound Effects one notch lower.)

And mercifully, they've also included the quick skip text feature as a customizable option so that you can jump to the next dialogue box instantly, as opposed to having to wait for the text scroll to finish.

The lack of 3D seems like a fair tradeoff for what we're getting here. If the technical side of things keep up, and if Capcom actually went the extra mile to clean up the typos, then this just might be the version to beat.

I have to say, so far the 3D models look FAR better on my iPhone screen than they did on the 3DS. Cutscenes also look very high-res.

I noticed that the list doesn't have UK prices, so just for posterity:
Cases 2-5 Bundle is £10.49; Turnabout Reclaimed is £2.99; Costume Set is 69p, Separate cases 2 or 3 are £2.99 each.

Hmm... All up every case, the special ep, and the costumes are $28.06AUD on iOS, and on 3DS it was $46.45AUD. That's essentially 40% off! (Do I re-buy it for the glorious visuals, and at a cheaper price?)

Also, it's made the front page on the Australian App Store!

I just remembered. A major benefit to this game being on iOS is that the game is also permanently tied to your account, so if anything happens to your iPad/iPhone, you'll be able to download your game again at no extra cost. Unlike the 3DS where your downloads are only tied to your console, so if your 3DS gets run over by a car or something, you're screwed.

Well, if anything happens to my 3DS, I know what platform I'll be getting my replacement for.

Omg! I don't have a DS so this is perfect for me since I have both an iPhone and an iPad. I've already played the first case and it's so good! Glad Capcom did this.

Not true; you can transfer your games to a different 3DS if the original gets destroyed or stolen. You have to call customer service though (stolen requires a police report, apparently), and it's easier if you have a Club Nintendo account attached to your eShop account. At least, that's what I've heard.

But yeah, the iOS route is more convenient.

Just downloaded it and what can I say? I am really pleased about what it turned out to be. It's so HD, and the UI looked and worked flawlessly! Wish they'd update the HD Trilogy with the same user interface.

If they release future titles for the iOS with this amazing quality, I'm choosing my iPhone over the 3DS. It's just me being bugged out at Nintendo's choice of the 3DS being low res compared to other devices of its generation. :/

I'm in the files, and not all the character models are there.
What these files are, I'm looking them up to find out now XD
(So far I can only recognise of the models as Trucy's panties, so I'll try to see how I can open that file. If any one knows how to open .mrl files, I think that's where the models are, and the .tex files are textures.)

It's probably Capcom custom. But it should be shared for all games using the same underlaying engine.

I believe most of the models are packed in the archive files (.arc), but those appear to be encrypted.
I can open the .tex files to some extent. I haven't tried the .mrl or .mod files (I think the .mod files are the models), but that doesn't seem really useful if we can't get the main model files.

Well I can be wrong, but they look encrypted to me. Normally the header should at least contain the offset or size of each file, but it just looks like random data (with a fixed length for each file), with arrays of 8 bytes sometimes being repeated.
Of course it's also possible that the actual file data is also compressed before being encrypted.

They even fixed SOME of the typos in the game! For example, in Case 1:

Spoiler: 3DS
Tonate: IF I THINK I THINK I'M BEING FOLLOWED, I WILL DETONATE IT ON THE SPOT.

Spoiler: iOS
Tonate: IF I THINK I'M BEING FOLLOWED, I WILL DETONATE IT ON THE SPOT.

Hmph... so the iOS version is $20 and high quality... compared to the 3DS's $30 plus $6 for the DLC. That's nearly twice as much.

While is this good (in my opinion) for Capcom to get the game to a large audience and for a decent price, they should give the 3DS at least a $10 price cut. The 3DS is at a clear disadvantage here...

Spoiler: Alternate Possibility
It's possible that the line in the 3DS version isn't a typo at all, and just Tonate being overly dramatic. He might be trying to say something along the lines of: "If I think I'm being followed, I'll detonate it on the spot. If I even think that I think I'm being followed, I'll detonate it."

Well, this release was really surprising. But I consider this a really good thing. The more people play AA, the more hope future releases have to come out in the West. While I won't be playing this version (my tablet is an android and my iPhone 4s screen is too small to enjoy the game, even with the improved graphics) if it helps bring attention to AA and get future games like Takumi's new AA localized I'm totally supportive. I'd even be totally open to playing the new games on my iphone if for some reason they won't get released for 3DS (I'm not sure why that would happen, but if for some reason it did, iOS would be fine for me).
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

They also fixed the typo where Tonate said "I've have them all untangled for you in no time at all!"

Now he correctly says "I'll..." That was one of my personal favorites though...

I wonder if they'll fix the typos for the 3DS Trilogy coming out in December. Of course, that would mean 1-5 would pretty much cease to exist.

Would we be able to post the cutscenes from the game on the page for sprites, etc? If so, I've copied all the HD cutscenes from the iOS version, and I am willing to upload them if needed. Interestingly enough, I haven't purchased cases 2-5 yet, but the cutscenes are still located in the game's data directory.

About how large are the files? Hosting them on C-R could prove slightly restrictive bandwidth-wise if they're large, so we may wind up linking to them on YouTube or elsewhere.

Actually no, some part of the DLC is stored server-side, because I've seen some iOS cracking threads saying that the tools that bypass client-side DLC don't work. However, I'd imagine most of the DLC data is already in the app, because downloading a massive amount of DLC data for every purchase would be impractical, which is probably why the music and cutscenes are already in the app.

Additionally, there seem to be alternate versions of several cutscenes, usually with only voice acting and sound effects but no music.

Well, he talked about them having music and sound, so I'm pretty sure he's referring to videos.

As for the full screen images, I already posted them on this thread: http://www.forums.court-records.net/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=30699

Yes, I'm referring to the video cutscenes.

Also, I found some text files in the iOS version that still refer to SpotPass and things like that, so it's obvious that at least some of the code (perhaps the character models, or the texture data, or the script/text files) were directly carried over from the 3DS version.

Tonight I decided to take a look at the few models that weren't packed into archives. The good news is that the format is relatively trivial, so I was able to throw together a viewer pretty quickly. Behold:

Image

Lovely, aren't they?

Bad news is, as Jozerick said, most of the models are in .arc files, so they aren't accessible just yet.
