I also remember it being a thing in Kingdom Hearts.

Although, that plot is more twisted than a pretzel, so... :yogi:

Finished the first case last night. Some of the mechanics are taking some time getting used to, some are just... UGH. I really hate the so-called "improved" hangman's gambit, as I'm having to babysit a bunch of letters, and if you mess up ONCE, you're going to be waiting a while for that next letter you need. =I PTA's new "x button does everything" mechanic is tough to deal with. The word choice is also... I guess fair, but when "the meat on bone" means the same thing as "meat on the bone", it makes one wonder. Then again, Ace Attorney's always dealt with that issue.

But the Mastermind is boring crazy, not entertaining crazy. That's the whole problem. If said mastermind was, you know, entertaining crazy (like Kefa from FF VI, Ghirahim from Skyward Sword) it'd be so much cooler. As it is, she's... boring.

Using my iphone charger cord to help me abuse the leveling/monokuma coin system. Whereas in the first game alls I could do was gain monokuma coins via searching and then repeated trials... now I just have to raise Usamis/Monokumas.

The cord gets under the left analog stick, the plug adapter for the USB-to-outlet acts like a weight that keeps the cord there. This allows me to walk with no effort. I can do other things while raising pets, getting hundreds of coins and several levels in the process. I started at level 27 earlier, and I'm about to hit level 57.

Ah, ok. Just checking that you weren't using it to do something with the touchscreen (even if that's unlikely to affect it). Does anything in the game make use of the touchscreen?

Nah, walking is done with the left analogue stick. I suppose a rubber band could do the job better, as I have to rely a lot on how my bed works and gravity.

Yes, most of the game does use touch screen controls. But I only really use it for trials.

...uh oh. I wonder if that means the game won't be compatible with the PS TV then...

Is any of that functionality required?

Given that it's a port, I wouldn't think so? But I don't use PSTV with PS3, PS4... I frankly don't have enough of a reason atm.

I'm only looking to get the PS TV because it's a $100 Vita, with the caveat that (afaik, based on the announcement of the Japanese Vita TV) games that use the touchscreen can't be played on it.

Spoiler: Ch4
So did anyone else get completely screwed over in the "point out the Octagon" segment of the trial? I went through a life bar and a half trying to point out the area where it was before the game finally accepted my answer.

Wow Komaeda went full dick mode once he found out Hinata didn't have a special skill but I have to admit I was amused when he started doing the closing argument on his own to save everyone from Hinata's "long, tedious explanation of the case"

that tanaka execution though lol

Get ready for the most accurate title ever:

Spoiler: SDR2 Spoilers
Dangan Ronpa 2: Goddamit, Komaeda.

Komaeda is a huge douchebag, but he's sometimes entertaining. And yeah, it gets very finicky for me around the "point out the lamp shade's cord" in chapter one...

and the new hangman's gambit can get a little finicky as well. ;_;

there's (actually) a good reason for it

The anagram thing wasn't really a problem in the Japanese version. But Japanese might also have less available anagrams. (Also, especially for the longer ones, I felt like it tended to give you the letters you needed. So if you needed to type out the alphabet in order, it'd be mostly a/b/c/d's at the beginning, k/l/m/n's in the middle, and w/x/y/z's at the end, making it easier to put together.)

True, but you mess up (which is easy: the sensitive touch controls have it so you can accidentalyl destroy a letter you need), you could wait half a minute for the next letter, which sets one back considerably.

Also,

Spoiler: SDR2 Spoilers
Souda's feelings for Sonia not reciprocated?

Looks like Souda...

*shades*

doesn't have any pop.

Yeah. Still getting used to the new PTA, letting go with X to shoot arguments? Rebuttal blades is cool, but I hope I'm never going to have to really rely on Sharpness conservation, as I'm getting double-cut-lines and the speed at which a lot of them come are random.

I'm also noticing that the difficulty curve is slightly harder in this game, as was the jump from GS2-1 to GS3-1, or AA5-1 to PLvAA-1.

The hardest Rebuttal Blades was by far in Ch2. Although sharpness will indeed become a relevant factor in later cases.

Also... you do realize that technically PLvAA was before DD, right? :ron:

True, but not in the West. From my perspective, it was the other way around. Which makes some things weird. Also, if you can imagine if the teaser was actually used in DD. It'd be quite awkward.

Has anyone found all the Hidden Monokumas? I'm missing one from about every chapter except 1.

Also important question!

Spoiler: DR2 Endgame
Is Chapter 6 the last real chapter (not counting an epilogue if there is one) and is there a trial phase? Just a yes or no on those if you please.

Never considered that... that'd be ideal for purchasing skills! Though the pet is better for grinding monokuma coins.

Man, so many responses to agree with this. Should I do a My Little Pony reference? Something with Nakamas, like The Planeteers (whom could summon Captain Planet), or basically every anime ever?

Anyway, I should really get back to playing this game. Smash demo has been addictive. >_<

The following manip gif I made of Asbel shows exactly why I lost trust in any Power of Friendship, thanks to Asbel.

Image

Seriously. That's pretty spot-on for Graces. "Friendship fixes everything!" You know, except the people who died. The damage done to the world. Stuff like that. (But yeah, Graces WAY overdid the whole "Friendship" thing, in the Japanese and English version) So of course someone snarky and cinical like myself is gonna scoff at friendship.

Spoiler: Chapter 5 Complete
fuck you komaeda
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck yooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuu

You're not allowed to lend me your strength, jerkface

So let's see, what's the best thing I can say about the surviving team...

Sonia's determined "Let's do it!" pose is still adorable

...yep, that's it

Speaking of the survivors (up until the end of this chapter anyway), it's funny and probably intentional how well they match up with the group in first game

Hinata - Main character (Naegi)
Nanami - Smart girl (Kirigiri)
Kuzuryu - Dickish guy who later warms up to the others (Togami)
Soda - Dumb, mostly useless guy (Hagakure)
Owari - Let's be honest, she IS Asahina only more violent
Sonia - c-c-c-combo breaker

Other stuff in this chapter:

Komaeda threatening to blow up the island - Not surprising
Komaeda killing himself - Surprising only because he died, I expected him to make it to the end
Nanami being the traitor - Not surprising in the least, pretty much given away once Hinata says "There's no WAY she could POSSIBLY be the traitor"
Everyone being stuck in the Holodeck or the Matrix or whatever - Expected this from the weird computer glitchy stuff at the beginning of the game, only now I don't know what the hell is going on with the deceased; if they're still alive or dead or were never there to begin with or what

Oh well WHATEVER, time for Free Time I guess

Spoiler: DR2 Late Game Spoiler
It's hinted at that anyone who died in the VR area is in a coma IRL and MAY be able to wake up... funnily enough, Komaeda isn't mentioned, which might mean he's really, most sincerely dead.

And why do people repeatedly opt to cosplay as Junko, rather than, well, Mukuro-Junko? Don't they realize they're walking spoilers?

So are possessed Riku/blindfold Riku cosplayers. But yeah, I've seen that cosplayer in my FB likes- she typically only does Touko, as I don't think she has the scissors for Syo yet.

And yeah, Murkuro seems better loved in fanart than in cosplayer.

That's an unmarked spoiler, you know.

In any case, unless she was carrying around a Monokuma doll, I doubt many people would make the connection. That cosplay just looks like a slightly different outfit. The only real indicator that anything is off is the hair thingies, but those are small.

I'd say a Mukuro cosplay would be bigger spoilers since it clearly shows there's another person in the game somewhere.
