Famitsu has released, and with it come full scans of the issue! Bear with us while we translate, but in the meantime, click the box below to view:

Spoiler: Scans

Summary of the info:

  • Baroque/Barock (we still don’t have a full transliteration) is described as a legendary English prosecutor said to never let a defendant escape. He’s returning to court after 5 years. Known as “The Death God of the Old Bailey”.
  • It took about a year to come up with the name of the prosecutor. At first it was “Prosecutor Rivaal”, but that was a bit… yeah. There is a proper name origin for the name, but Takumi finds it embarrassing to talk about. He has a different font for “objection” to convey the “English”-ness of him.
  • Jury Battle: Each of the jury members have their own ideas about the case and you can get the not guilty verdict by finding the contradictions in, and between their ideas (think PLvsPW’s testimony-vs-testimony mechanic). Ryuunosuke can walk around during the trial as he’s thinking. The last argument is where you have your last chance to convince the jury of your client’s innocence.
  • If all jury members decide on guilty, then it’s over, but as long as a majority votes not guilty after the closing argument, you win. Takumi had considered a multiple-ending game at first, but in the end, settled on this.
  • During trials, you can question multiple witnesses at once and yell “HANG ON!” if one is acting up, much like PLvsPW.
  • Special attention has been paid to camerawork, a sense of space and eye movements of the characters.
  • Case one is called “The Adventure of the Grand Departure." The prosecutor is Taketsuchi Auchi, Payne’s ancestor.
  • Case one’s waiter witness is named Satoru Hosonaga. A mysterious, elaborately-dressed woman is also shown without a name.
  • As DLC, a special episode focused on Ryuunosuke and Asougi will be available 7/9 to 7/19 for free. The episode is called “Randst Magazine Special Edition”, and though it’s called out as a ‘game’, it’s not clear if it’ll be a full case. Randst Magazine comes from Strand Magazine, where the original Holmes stories were published.
  • The game’s limited edition will include a 48-page artbook and 10-track CD.

I'm most excited about the 'closing argument' I can see. Do you think it will be like the one in Danganronpa 2?

Ah it's good to see mob trials return.

Though based on the size of the characters in that art I wonder who'll be given more credit in the story...Ryu's friend, the Rival Prosecutor, or Sherlock.

If Ryu's friend was to get killed off, I could see him being an important driving force behind Ryu, like Mia in the first three, which could earn him a nice big place on the poster, even if he wasn't present throughout the whole game.

Wow, so there are already 4 witnesses just for the first case. I wonder if it's a big case.

Also the 6 jury members in the scans look different from the jury members in the trailer, while on the other hand the witness in the middle looks like one of the jury members from the trailer.

Up until the interview:

Rival: the legendary prosecutor Barock Van Siegs, AKA "The Death God of the Old Bailey". No one has ever escaped from his clutches, but it has been 5 years since his last appearance in the courtroom. Quote: "Thus it must be. My "sacrifice"..."

Jury Battle: Each of the jury members have their own ideas about the case and you can get the not guilty verdict by finding the contradictions in, and between their ideas. Ryuunosuke can walk around during the trial as he's thinking. The last argument is where you have your last chance to convince the jury of your client's innocence.

Witnesses: you can question multiple witnesses at once.

Payne ancestor: AUCHI Taketsuchi.
Waiter: HOSANAGA Satoru (head waiter of La Quantos, where the first murder happens)

Interview:

1) The new game flow is:
Witness testimony / questioning
Convincing the jury members

If all jury members decide on guilty, then it's over, but as long as a majority votes not guilty after the closing argument, you win. Takumi had considered a multiple ending game at first, but in the end, settled on this.

2) Convincing the jury members is done by pointing out the contradictions or mistakes in their ideas. Each of the jury members have a different personality / way of thinking. You can also use one jury member's ideas against another.

3) It took about a year to come up with the name of the prosecutor. At first it was "Prosecutor Rivaal", but that was a bit too... There is a proper name origin for the name, but Takumi finds it embarrassed to talk about. He has a different font for "objection" to convey the "English"-ness of him.

4) Special attention has been paid to camerawork, a sense of space and eye movements of the characters.

Hadn't even noticed those strips of information below the page!

Landstrom -> Randst Magazine (Strand Magazine, where the Holmes stories originally appeared).

Wow looks like the Jury system is actually being brought in properly.

This should make for some really interesting stuff, I wonder if we'll have a "Not guilty" verdict without indicting the actual murderer this time around?

Wow, this game is polished like heck! I suspected the Jury battles were a real mechanic, but I didn't expect that closing argument section. It's like piling mob cross-exams on top each other in a huge conglomerate of a trial. Also, the walking hype is real. But geez, there sure are a lot of leprechauns in England

By the way, since it's supposedly called the "Great London Court", am I to believe that this is already a high court, not a local one like in the mainstream games? I'm not sure if this was addressed during the interview.

Welp, that settles it. He's not appearing for any cases after the first. And I'm convinced he'll end up like Mia. *praying that Ryu also keeps his animatronic fluttering headband as a memento*

Edit: I just realized. Ryu's sword is adorned with a red ribbon quite like his headband. That's gotta be it. Yes!

A lot of these people look recycled from PLvsPW. They've got the same designers between the two games, or so I hear. Even the composer is making a return from his contributions to the crossover's soundtrack.

Looks so amazing so far, even without the Laytonesque feel.

Crap, now I really, really want this game. So sad it's probably never coming to the west.

None of the jurists' names are listed; they're just numbered 1 - 6.

Two of the witnesses in that trial are named, though. I can make out the short green one as "Beppo" and the taller one with the crazy 'stache as "Fairplay". I figure the two of them are a suitable pair because their names both relate to news broadcasting of some sort.
