Probably a Lynel. Those fuckers are really strong, some even stronger than ganon I think. Nothing super plot-centric.

The battle to enter into Vah Ruta was freaking cool! Being inside Vah Ruta not so much. But I do ship Link and Mipha.

Also, crossdressing Link. Of course.

I'd really like to work on the memories, but none of the locations look familiar.

Painter guy who appears at stables/villages will point you in the direction of the location closest by, depending on where you ask.

You know, the idea of awakening to Hyrule being utterly destroyed... well, it's been done before. Wind Waker had its premise on Hyrule having been destroyed (and then treated it like a huge revelation towards the end...) and OoT has Link see Hyrule practically destroyed after 7 years.

But the idea of it being UTTERLY gone is kinda cool. I think what would have really worked is if there really WAS nothing beyond the isolated Plateau. Sure, you might have Impa wandering around... or just the spirits of a few, very important characters. (Like the dead Champions' in their Divine Beasts) Basically, you wake up and that kingdom you always protected and needed to save? GONE. Humanity is dead, with the only one being around being Link and maybe Zelda (or have her turn out to be a spirit at the end, too)
Make it so that Link is forced to live on his own in the wild; forage for what he can find to survive and the only reason he fights Ganny is because his duty/destiny/whatever says so. Really play on the whole "Hyrule is GONE" aspect.

Like, Link defeats Ganon(dorf) again and saves the world, but... it's empty. There is no world for ANYONE to save. Depressing, but it'd be neat.

As it is... the beginning, with the isolated Plateau did it well. But then... outside, you have stables and villages and NPCs and... it all feels like such a stereotypical Zelda game... wasn't this one supposed to be different, with its core aspect of being open going back to its roots? I find it a bit hard to believe that Hyrule's destruction was such a major event - even if it was 100 years ago - if most people seem to be fine. Hell, the fact THAT it happened 100 years ago should mean it's still fresh in people's minds!

100 years is not that long. And given how you have several NPCs make it clear that they were alive, and are still alive, 100 years ago, it really feels weird that majority of people just think Hyrule is this... almost legendary ruin thing.

They've been going more and more with the Link-Zelda relationship in recent games, but this is the first game to outright give Link different "partners". Mipha is a given, Zelda is very heavily implied to have a crush on Link,
and both Paya and Riju will be popular with people as well.

The memories aren't really working for me. They seem to be more focused on pointing out how Link was the Chosen Hero, bla bla, and how annoyed Zelda was with him constantly. Because she thought she could do things on her own (obviously can't, considering Link had to save her from Yiga people); she didn't like him because he got the sword so easily and that she didn't get her own special powers easily herself.

I know that she began to warm up to him when she learns that he puts up a stoic facade because he's scared of disappointing people by saying the wrong thing (which she considers similar to her issue of having to play 'a role' as the princess), but... for the most part, that is NOT the focus of those scenes. It's just "Link is cool; I suck; Gawd, I don't need an escort!" Very few memories seem to actually depict the two to be even remotely friendly towards each other. Professionally calm, sure. But nothing that indicates there might be more.

Would've been cool if they had bothered to really work on that, given the GOOD HUNDRED NPCs AND MORE THAT ARE WANDERING AROUND HYRULE!

"You've been asleep for quite some time, Link. I'm afraid it's been... 100 years."
"Hyrule is a big place, and I expect you'll become quite familiar with that Sheikah Slate as you plan your next move."
"Ganon sent us to hell, but we're going even deeper. Take back the kingdom we've lost."
"That's an enemy guardian. A single blast from its eye could cut a man in half. Tread carefully, Link."

Honestly, the time between waking up and receiving your first objective was the best part of the game. No destiny, no ancient technology, just you, your clothes, and a stick against the big world. But it's a Zelda game, so that might be a bit too much to ask.
The Slate abilities are okay for the most part, and I understand receiving them early so that they don't feel like glorified keys, but they feel a bit much. Not moments ago you woke up powerless. Now you have unlimited bombs, a method for crossing any large body of water, and the ability to locally freeze time.
I'm okay with breakable weapons. I'd imagine if weapons weren't breakable, then the meta strategy would be to immediately head to any "a major test of strength" trial, poke the guardian to death, and now you have some of the strongest weapons in the game.
The most emotional part for me was the first horse I found. A mounted Bokoblin was charging towards me, so I weighed my options and decided to take its horse. The two us escaped and eventually bonded. It felt like I found my first real companion in the game. As I head towards a stable I saw an unarmed civilian being attacked, so I dismounted and fought of the danger. After the danger had settled I turned back... and the horse had left me. That was the most betrayed I had felt in any game ever. So I eventually caught another horse and named it SuckItPBG.
The Zoras were my first venture into freeing the divine beasts, and this was probably the best one. Sidon actually takes initiative in searching for a method to stop the the beast. The people there blame you for failing to protect their princess. There's legitimate shit going on that isn't just "We're in trouble. Do this thing for us."
Going inside a divine beast is cool the first time, then for every other time the "wow" factor just diminishes quicker and quicker.
Unfortunately, the game rewards you after each divine beast with a unique weapon, that while it may possess high durability, it can still break. So in my book, that means it gets to take up a slot in my inventory and never be used unless I absolutely need to (never).
After a while I stopped relying on food and just resorted to my usual recovery method: save scumming. It's a bit of a problem I have with most games with a save anywhere feature; I'd rather reload my save than just use an item. BECAUSE WHAT IF I NEED THAT ITEM LATER IN THE GAME?
Not much to say about the Rito and Goron beasts, but after I finished with them, I realized that the Rito champion is just Falco from Star Fox: the friendly rival who talks like he's big shit and is also a bird person. Also the Rito children are FREAKIN ADORABLE.
I get the whole bit about having to take up the responsibility of a leader at a young age, but I still hate what's her face of the Gerudo. Why? "Stay close to me," she says as she speeds up right before lightning strikes with me just outside of the barrier. Asshole.
"That thing's fast. Watch out" has been the most useful thing a champion spirit has ever said.
After finishing four divine beasts, silver bokoblins start appearing in the field. Before that, the highest health a bokoblin variation had was 240. This one has 720. Do the math.
FUCK BLOOD MOONS. Was it too simple to have enemies respawn, say, 30 real life minutes after you've killed them and left the area? Did they really need to include a goddamn FMV every single time it happens along with another loading screen? How about having it randomly spawn during the day? Let's not stop there, let's have it spawn while you're in the middle of dragon part farming, forcing you to search for a dragon again if you wanted something from it. Oh, but you want to know what will REALLY be good? Having it spawn DURING THE CALAMITY GANON FIGHT, SENDING YOU BACK TO BEFORE THE CUTSCENE WITHOUT RETURNING ANY ITEMS YOU CONSUMED. Granted, I hear some of these problems were just glitches caused by leaving the Wii U on for too long, but if this was some deliberate anti-poop socking measure, then well played, Nintendo. Well fucking played.
For that matter, fuck dragon farming.
Zelda couldn't access her divine power because she has low self-esteem, but she has low self-esteem because she couldn't access her divine power. Relatable.
So Link (only mostly) died 100 years ago by being overwhelmed by Guardian Stalkers and depleting the Master Sword's energy. I can accept that. Unfortunately, that makes Calamity Ganon seem less intimidating than when it seemed like it (only mostly) killed Link directly.
I'll admit, Hyrule Castle and its multiple paths was pretty fun. If only one of those paths wasn't a five minute shortcut to Ganon.
Calamity Ganon works fine for a Phase 1 of a final boss. Beast Ganon is just depressingly simple. I got hit more times by it's front left foot than I did from its one attack. If they wanted take inspiration from Shadow of the Colossus and make a boss fight out of it, at least make me think there's some challenge to it. They managed it with the corrupted wisdom dragon fight, and that was completely optional.
I finished with about 60 shrines completed, and while they were mostly okay, the ones with motion controls suuucked. How is those even a test of my resourcefulness? I can find this kind of challenge in a McDonald's Happy Meal toy.
