"Yeah, you're right. The room is soundproof, but I didn't hear the explosion, I felt it happening," he says sternly.
"Anyway, you go to the upper floors are important to check earlier since they're the hardest to evacuate. We saw that with the staircase going up later on."
"I didn't know where Sakura was, but Crimson shouted that she was still in there somewhere."
"Sure, I know the buildings weak spots, but we don't know yet if this fire was meant to take out supports or anything like that."

Ryuji, on the floor in tears, couldn't bring himself to get up and rise. He didn't want to look at the faces of the classmates he held dear, only to tell them the truth. In his mind, Ryuji could only think of two options. Save his classmates, or keep his promise with Tatsuya.
"...I-If Tatsuya were here..." Ryuji said. "H-He'd want me to save you guys...b-but he's not here...I-I'm n-nothing without him...I-If I can't get that wish, t-that means I-I might not get out of here..."
Ryuji got up from his seat.
"...I-I promised him, before I left for this school, that I would come home to him. I-I promised him, a-and I would do anything to keep my promise. H-He'd be mad at me for how I did it for sure...B-But it's a promise that I was going to keep no matter what. We haven't broken a promise to each other since the day we met...A-And he's so sick...I-I can't leave him alone..."
Ryuji took out two walkie talkies from his pocket. One was blue, and one was pink.
"...I-If Crimson died because of me, e-even if I got out of here, I wouldn't be able to look at myself the same way...S-So here."
He threw the walkie talkies at Matt.
"O-One of them was to communicate with Van. When I went back into Door 3, after the explosion started, that was because I felt guilty for the plan I was about to commit. I told Van I was going to wait in the elevator."
Ryuji pointed at the blue walkie talkie.
"...That was the one I was going to use when I pretended to be killed."
Holding himself, he crumbled to the floor.
"Y-You know what's funny..? Even though you guys don't catch the killer, I won't be able to escape anyways. The person who started the fire was the one who told me he'd commit murder. S-So I told him, very specifically, that I didn't want to be the one to strike the final blow. B-But that makes no difference...I-I was enlisted as the accomplice."
Ryuji looked at Sakura from the ground.
"I-I was supposed to wear the suit. During the explosion, I was going to cry for help. That would give the killer an alibi, because he'd come and save me."
Getting up, Ryuji turned his attention to Van.
"I-I think Crimson died because of me...a-and I'll hate myself forever, s-so...here goes nothing."
"V-Van! You're the one that started the fires!"

He pointed at the pink walkie talkie.
"H-He told me the plan was off. He told me that he wasn't going to commit murder anymore."
Ryuji clutched his heart. "I-I don't know why...b-but if he is the killer, and he told me the plan was off, that means he doesn't consider me to be his accomplice..."
Pointing at Van angrily, "T-That's why I think you also can't be the killer! B-Because if you told me the plan was off, the suspicion would obviously fall on you! Y-You're the real accomplice!"

"We planned on committing a murder. The execution was simple. I was just going to kill someone during the rescue while supposedly rescuing Ryuji. And, whoever died? I don't know, it was just whatever, whatever, I didn't want to think about that."

I set the four Bunsen burners, and I basically recreated a fire escape scenario, Ryuji is telling the truth..." Van tears up, sniffling. "Look, this game played me, and I can't save all of you, and I know it, and that stress of knowing that makes me want to give up. Like, outside it's so easy. I've saved hundreds of lives, and in this game, well, I can't say I've saved any, and now might have been my only chance to."
Van looks to the others with pleading eyes.
"I didn't kill anyone, at least as far as I know. At least I can hope Crimson didn't die because of me, but I guess either way she's dead, and I couldn't do anything about it."
