Monokuma replied flippantly, "Whaaaaaaaaa? The windows aren't hooked up to the same grid as the lights and electricity you all have access to! It wouldn't make sense for the toaster to run off the same grid as the ...uh... other things..." Monokuma says sheepishly.

Monokuma coughed. "ANYWAY the window doors were under normal operating procedure when the blackout occured, so there was no way to force the doors open in that time!"

"There had to've been some sort of strong chemicals involved. Think about it, why else would you open a window? So I'm thinking....it could be lighter fluid. It's just like gasoline, right? So maybe a lot of the gas from lighter fluid leaked out and someone had to get it out quickly....so they wouldn't catch themselves on fire. An NG code tone plays as Shirly collapses in Anissa's arms. She says to the younger girl, "Please... save me..." as she loses conciousness.

As the band is transferred from Shirly, some white flakes fall off. Overall...it seems like a normal rubber band.

"It's futile." Claudius resigned. "There's no way we'll be able to find a rubber band expert on such short notice."

"Wait, what about the photo?" Dale asked. "Could be a valuable clue."

The photo was of a little boy, around 7-8 years old. A fedora sat on top of his head, and his face was covered in cuts and bruises. Despite that, he had a wide smile on his face, showing some recently missing teeth. A little tomboyish looking girl was beaming next to him, and a girls' bicycle sat between them like some sort of reward.

"That's right..." Silas smiled. "I forgot we're not just fighting for our lives."

"Let's finish this then!" Casey shouted. "For the kid, and for Shirly! She's counting on us!"

"Okay so like Monokuma said, the window working the same way it always did even through the blackout... That means that uh... the windows must open under some condition... maybe something that threatens the life of the mastermind... and basically opening the windows must be a measure to present something really destructive..."

"So the door to the basement is airtight right? So if you filled the basement with something like a gas or something until close to the breaking point that would produce kind of like a ticking time bomb. Shirly said she heard the groan of metal when she was in the room with the door to the staircase. Anissa reported that she couldn't open the door and that's probably because there was so much pressure pushing it outwards... So that's a reason why Monokuma might crack a window... Pressure also would have suppressed Dallas from bleeding much..."

Anissa panics as Shirley fell towards her, sending her collapsing backwards into the portrait of the deceased detective. Overwhelmed, she starts to hyperventilate, clutching her head tightly. But eventually, she mumbles, "G- Get ahold of yourself, Anissa... J- J- Just take a few d- deep breaths..."

Once she's calmed down, she takes the rubber band and examines it closely, trying to ignore the fact that everyone is counting on her. After a little while of gently stretching the rubber band and mumbling incoherently, she seems to come to some kind of conclusion.

Anissa closes her eyes and slowly gets up from the floor. She leans over the podium, trembling, and mumbles, "Th- This rubber band... It's l- lost some of it's elasticity... I- I think it's been... submerged in cold water."
