"Ah, shit..." Albert grits his teeth. "Ghost, you better come back fast, man... I can't wait any longer... We're all going to die anyway if we don't..."

Teddy continued to pace around. It was clear he was not too fond of the ‘waiting’ plan.

“Can you sit down?!” Helios barked. “You’re making everyone nervous.”

Teddy didn’t listen. He kept pacing, and thinking.

“Teddy, there’s no other answer but to wait for Ghost.” Albert sighed.

“Answer, huh?” Teddy stopped in place and thought a bit. “That safe...it just needed a combination, right?”

“...yeah.” Albert nodded. “A six-digit input.”

“It had six semi-circular indentations at the top too.” Helios noted. “Don’t know if that means anything though.”

Teddy looked over at Emma on the ground, Midge doing her best to stop the bleeding. “If there’s a combination, somebody set it.”

Teddy walked over to Emma and kneeled down. He pressed the barrel of his gun against her wound. Emma couldn’t help but scream.

“The pain will stop if you tell me the combination.”

“Stop it!” Midge yelled. She pushed and clawed at Teddy but it was clear he wasn’t budging. Quickly, she pulled out a knife.

“Don’t be stupid now.” Teddy warned. “Unless you’re fine with dying.”

Teddy pressed the barrel harder. Emma screamed louder, and then it seemed like she began to enter shock.

CLICK

“Put the gun down, Teddy.” Albert pressed his gun at the back of Teddy’s head.

“Don’t be stupid, Al.” Teddy repeated his warning.

Albert ignored him. “Get her out of here, Midge.”

Midge didn’t need to be told twice. She quickly cradled Emma in her arms and rushed (carefully) out the door.

“You’re a real fucking idiot, you know that Al?” Teddy spat, and then threw himself backwards into Albert. His shot went wild and missed.

Teddy grabbed for his gun and aimed it at Midge, but his bullet just blasted the doorframe apart as she disappeared behind it. Albert grabbed at Teddy’s shirt and wildly pointed his gun again.

“S-STOP!”

Teddy smashed his gun against Albert, knocking him to the ground. He pointed it at Albert’s face, ready to fire, but Albert had acted first. He had reached for his gun, and using one hand, aimed it at Teddy’s kneecap and pulled the trigger.

Teddy screamed. He cursed and cursed, his face white-hot with rage. Thinking quickly, Albert kicked Teddy’s gun away from his hands. He pointed his gun at Teddy’s face, holding it steady.

Ducking for cover in the ensuing firefight, Bradley saw his chance as Albert kicked the gun away.

Picking it up he nervously began to aim it at Albert "S-Stop! Mr Albert...." His voice shook almost as much as his hands "Mr Teddy is unarmed now...lets just...lets just put these guns down. N-no one else needs to get hurt." Bradley coughed slightly feeling sick from the nerves or the illness it was hard to tell. "Opening the armoury was a stupid idea Ghost." He muttered to himself trying to remain calm.

He shouted after Midge "Miss...Midge if Emma does know the combination it might be nice of her to share it. At least to give us that much before we die." He asked before realising he'd taken his eyes off of Albert and jerking his attention back to fully focus on Albert.

Albert slowly gets up, gun still pointed at Teddy, and staggers backward slightly. "Don't move a fucking inch, you piece of shit", he hisses, nervousness only slightly apparent in his voice. The rest of it is clouded by rage. "You've brought all of this on yourself, Ted. All because you couldn't fucking wait. It's always the same with you... But now the tables have turned, haven't they? Now I'm the one in control and you're the one who's just lost something important...getting shot in the kneecap must hurt like balls, doesn't it? Fucking stings. It's the same way how I felt when you sent your goons to kill my brother."

His eyes turn colder, even angrier, as he tightens his hold on the trigger. "You know how I felt when he got popped? Of course you fucking wouldn't, you've probably never had a goddamn soul to even care about your whole life. But Isaac was special. We got along good. He was my only friend at times, when things got dire. And then you extinguished his life like it was nothing. And then it would be my turn a month afterwards. So you know whose fault it is Isaac died, Ted? I bet you can't fucking guess." Both his eyes and gun aim heavily on Teddy, awaiting an answer from him.

"P-please Mr Albert, don't do this." Bradley's small voice piped. He looked at Helios pleadingly clearly hoping he would step in and stop this "This...this isn't the time. We...we should be trying more ways to get out. Maybe...maybe there's other things on the computer?"

Helios stared vacantly at Teddy and Albert uncertainly. Eventually, he said, "Come on...There's no reason for violence anymore. We're already dying. We need to conserve our energy, not escalate things..." His voice sounded exhausted and unconvincing.

As Albert grew more enraged, Teddy seemed to... cool down. He was still obviously in a ton of pain and gripping his leg, but he seemed to be as relaxed as one could be with a busted kneecap.

“Heh... heheheh...” He even started to chuckle. “You. It’s you, you dumbass. You’re sooooo smart, but you can’t tell when people are just taking you for a ride. Then when everything goes to hell, you get focused on blaming someone else and petty grudges, instead of trying to figure out how to not be so goddamn naive or get out of the situation. Emma fucking admitted to kidnapping us, infecting us, killing Adriana, and stopping our only chance of escape, but I’m the one you’re pointing a gun at. Whatever. It doesn’t matter now. It doesn’t seem like Emma has any intention of saving us, and she’s might even be telling the truth about not having vaccines or being able to open the exit. Blight’s gonna get us all anyway. But if stooping to my level on your deathbed makes you happy, I can’t really fucking stop you, can I. Just remember that if Emma waltzes in here with vaccines, it’s cuz I didn’t just wait around and fucking did something.”

Albert suddenly takes a deep breath. "Hah....you got it in one, Ted. I knew you would get it. You're right...I'm the reason Isaac died. Unlike what you may think, I've never blamed you for anything... Hell, it's all my own fault. I was the one who came to that poker game, I was the moron who fell for your fucking bait... and I was the numbskull who went double or nothing and lost everything I had. You were the trickster, but I was the tricked. And Ice...I lost him because of my own gullibility. I'm fucking useless, Teddy. You said it yourself." He gives a slight chuckle but the tears forming in his eyes betray him. "I was too goddamn naive. I never realised how to fix it. I had a great future ahead of me, and I threw it all away. Why should I blame you for any of that?"

"The only thing I blame you for is for making me live longer with this heavy weight, that I've become responsible for what happened to Ice. I should've died instead of him...we both know that. But hell, you think you're the better man here? You need to rethink everything yourself, Ted. All you did by attacking Emma was cause more tension in the group and that bullet in the kneecap. I'm sure as hell not perfect, but you aren't either", Albert scoffs slightly.

"But still, I'm fucking tired of this. You think I care about all this? We're all going to die anyway. ...Hell, if anything, killing you now would be a pretty merciful way to die. Quick and painless, eh?" Albert raises his eyebrow, looking at Teddy.

Spoiler:
"So I won't do it."

Albert's grip on the trigger loosens, and he throws the gun on the floor without even the tiniest bit of hesitation.

"There's only one thing about me you were wrong about, Teddy. I'm nothing like you. And I have no plans of stooping to your level any time soon."

Violet watched the others fight, seemingly unsure of what to do. As Albert dropped the gun, she became visibly less tense, before frowning. "Albert, what...what were you talking about? D-Do you know Teddy?" She glanced back and forth between them. "What's going on?!"

Teddy let out a large exhale and leaned back. Seems the gun aimed at him had still caused a certain amount of stress. “If only... Yeah, you’re right. What’s done is done.

“The world just fucking sucks sometimes, doesn’t it.”

Teddy nodded as Albert went to leave. “I guess it’s back to the waiting game... but if anyone can pull something out of Emma now, I have a feeling it’s Midge. ...It’s probably best for someone to make sure the two of them don’t escape together or something, though.” He glances at Violet.

Spoiler: END
Midge had locked her and Emma in the garden. It was hardly ideal, but there didn’t seem to be any better options before them.

“Hey, Emma.” Midge whispered. “Don’t worry. I’m still here.” She clutched her hand in reassurance and squeezed. “Just focus on my voice, okay?”

Some people had come by the door and tried to open it. They shouted from the outside, telling Midge they needed the combination. But she didn’t listen, just focused on Emma.

...time was running out. They’d be dead any minute.

“...I’m sorry.” Emma moaned. It was painfully quiet.

“What?” Midge parted some of Emma’s hair to the side. “Don’t talk. Just...stay relaxed, ok?”

I...wish...we could’ve stayed together.

“M-Me too.” Midge had begun to tear up. “I-I...it was the only thing that kept me going all these years.”

“I knew you’d talk me out of this.” Emma painfully smiled as she forced the words out. “I...I knew I wouldn’t have the resolve with you at my side……………..that’s why...y-you……..had...to disappear…”

Midge had no clue what Emma was saying. She wanted to ask more, but didn’t want to risk straining Emma further.

“Emma…” She bit her lip. “Of course I would’ve talked you out of this.” She said the words through sobs. “I-I’m...so disappointed in you.”

One minute left.

“C-Clara…”

Midge put her ear close to Emma, to listen to what she had to say.

“Z...it only kills in approximately nine hours…killing in exactly nine...that’s just a nocebo.”

Midge’s eyes widened at the information. “W-What?!”

“The combination to the safe...it’s your birthday. I want you to open it.”

“Emma, why didn’t you tell the others?!” Midge’s disappointment and frustration was growing. She thought she had known Emma better than anyone, yet every action from her today completely defied expectations.

“I love you…” Emma smiled weakly again. Her breaths got weaker and weaker until eventually...she stopped. The garden became eerily quiet, like a tomb.

Quickly, Midge tried to resuscitate her. She desperately did what she could, pushing on her chest, trying to breathe air into her lungs...she didn’t stop. She kept going, with the desperate hope that she could get one last bit of life out of Emma.

It took awhile for Midge to give up. For her to realize it was futile.

For her to realize that everything she had suffered through had been for nothing…

Midge pounded her fists in the dirt and screamed. She held her head in agony and screamed again and again, far past the point where her voice should’ve given out.

“...I-I....love you too.” Midge said the words with a deep sadness in her heart, trying to hold back the anger she had. Her fists were clenched so tightly that she drew blood from her palms.

Slowly, Midge stood up. It took some time to summon the strength--she wasn’t even sure she had it.

She unbarred the door and took one last look at Emma’s corpse. She looked down at the floor. “...goodbye.”

Slowly, she lumbered to the safe. She only did it because she had to. Because she’d die any minute otherwise. Because there wasn’t another choice but to survive.

It was worth it, right? She still could feel blood flowing through her veins, the beat of her heart in her chest…as long as she was alive, everything she had done had some meaning. It had to.

Walking past the corpses of the others didn’t even faze her. She had already lost so many. She just had to keep walking. Keep going to the foyer.

Midge kneeled down in front of the safe when she arrived. It began to occur to her that she wasn’t even feeling pain from the virus anymore. It was there, but it was something that she was numb to at this point.

It almost occurred to her that this must be how a homunculus feels. Just a member of the walking dead.

Slowly raising her finger, she entered her birthday into the safe. She could hear the sound of a latch unclicking from the inside the moment she pressed the last digit.

Emma hadn’t lied. She was still looking out for Midge, after all this.

Slowly, and with great trepidation, Midge opened the safe.

What are we supposed to do now?

The group was in the lounge, trying to think of what to do next. They had one hour left. And the lack of vaccines wasn’t their only problem now…

“We have no clues, no vaccines, nothing.” Helios sighed. “All we can do is hope the serial killer is forced to make a move? And even if we get them, then what?”

“They probably just did for their own sick satisfaction.” Midge guessed. “I don’t think they’ll attack again, and we might just die from the virus.”

“So should we keep looking for vaccines?” Teddy asked. “But as a group?”

It seemed like the suspects were clear.

Adriana. Helios. Midge. Teddy.

...Bradley and Violet. They couldn’t be ruled out either. Each person tried to recount everything they’ve learned.

“...I know who the killer is. And if I’m right...there’s still a way to get a vaccine.”

“Who? How?”

They pointed their finger directly across from them. Right at…

Spoiler:
...nobody.

“Uhh...Adriana?” Helios looked a little embarrassed on her behalf. “I kind of thought you were...going somewhere with that.”

“Sorry.” She blushed. “Just got a bit dramatic. I don’t really know who the killer is, but I have a theory. I’d like to confirm something first.”

“Is it about The Dissector?” Bradley asked. “Should we go to the library?”

“No, let’s head to the foyer.”

***

Ok...what’s going on?” Violet asked.

Adriana didn’t seem to hear Violet, but if she did she didn’t acknowledge her presence in any way. She just stared at the safe.

“This Dissector…” She began. “Isn’t it kind of weird that they killed Albert and Emma and then just...stopped?”

“A bit.” Midge frowned. “Not like I could guess how serial killers work though.”

“Maybe they just wanted to kill more people…?” Violet suggested.

“But we’re going to die in less than an hour.” Bradley said, looking at his watch nervously. “They may as well not hide themselves…”

“Well, they probably couldn’t kill more people that way.” Violet huffed.

“No.” Teddy disagreed. “It’s definitely weird. But we don’t know shit about The Dissector. It doesn’t really make sense to dissect bodies, period. So I’m not sure how useful it is to delve into their logic.”

Helios looked at Adriana expectantly. “Well? It seems like you have an idea.”

“Why would anyone do anything in this game? Why would somebody kill for no reason?”

“Maybe a grudge against Mister Albert and Miss Emma?” Bradley guessed. “And they wanted to make it look like The Dissector did it…?”

Teddy nodded at Bradley. “Not bad.”

“I was thinking a little more simply.” Adriana rubbed the top of the safe. “The killer wanted a vaccine. And they haven’t gotten it yet.”

“How would they get a vaccine?” Midge asked. “The safe?”

“Maybe somebody activated a new trial too…” Teddy theorized, rubbing his chin.

“Let’s go to the dining room.” Adriana decided. She started walking over.

“H-Hey!” Helios shouted. “W-Why are we-?” He stopped talking and then just followed with the rest.

***

The dining room was much like they had left it. Ghost’s body was still in the middle, blood in a small pool around him.

“Do we really have to be here, Miss Adriana?” Bradley shivered.

“Sorry. I’ll try to be quick.” She assured. She then kneeled down next to Ghost’s body. “Helios, you said Ghost had the key to the armory on him, right?”

“Yeah.” Helios nodded, cradling his shotgun closely.

“When did you get it?”

“I stayed behind once Mr. Bianchi quit the trial. I waited for everyone to leave the room, then searched his body. It was in his boot.”

“So between the end of Teddy’s trial and when you got the key, nobody touched Ghost’s body?”

Helios raised an eyebrow at the third degree. “Yes. Adriana I’m sorry but...if you want to accuse me, can you please be straight about it?”

“I haven’t accused anyone yet.” She said matter of factly. “Ghost’s wound bothers me though...it’s bigger than it was before.”

“It looks the same to me.” Midge opined.

“I can’t disagree.” Helios frowned. “Not that I could tell one way or the other.”

“I think it’s bigger.” Bradley said, nodding at Adriana. “Did The Dissector do this to a dead body?”

“Is The Dissector also the one who killed Ghost?” Teddy furrowed his brow.

Adriana didn’t answer either of those questions. It seemed she had already internally moved on to another topic. “Can everyone do me a favor? Lift up your shirts.”

"AH! BRADLEY!" Violet screamed.

The front of his stomach had...a scar. It was about four to five inches long and was on the left side of his stomach. It was clearly recent, as the stitching was still present.

Quickly, everybody else followed suit and lifted up their shirts. Stitched scars. All of them. The same exact place.

Midge gives Adriana a wry smirk, "Oh so you weren't just harrassing us then."

She shakes her head and snorts.

"Do you think we've all been given vaccines then? Just, you know, the wrong way?"

Violet pressed her fingers on her stomach next to the scar. "Oh my...oh my gosh..." She gagged a little, quickly pulling her shirt down. "Wh-What does this even mean? Did...did the Dissector try and k-kill us too or something?"

“What. The. Fuck.” Teddy was completely horrified, his face white.

“Ugh.” Midge grimaced. “I thought my stomach pains were just the flu…”

“Why the hell…” Helios looked unusually enraged. “Null must’ve done this to all of us! WHY?!”

“It only makes sense if Null is The Dissector.” Teddy sweated. “She wants to play fucked up games with our bodies.”

“Do you think she put an egg in us?!” Violet screamed in terror. “Is something going to burst out of me?!”

The combination of Blight-Z’s symptoms, and feeling so violated stirred something in the group. The panic in the air soon became palpable, and it seemed things were going to be manic.

“Calm down.” Midge advised. “There’s probably a vaccine in all of us, or only some of us.”

“Vaccines?” Bradley said. A lot of people began to eye each other warily and hungrily.

Spoiler: Part 1
Teddy, it was you.” Adriana completely silenced the room. The accusation had came out of nowhere. All eyes turned to her, and then immediately to Teddy.

“T-Teddy?” Violet stammered.

“What the fuck?!” Teddy shouted. “I’m just confused as the fucking rest of you on this!”

“I don’t think you are.” Her eyes stared right at his, unwavering. “I think you knew about these scars for some time.”

“You think?!” Teddy was outraged. “You got some balls, throwing an accusation like this out with no evidence!”

“You’re right. I don’t have evidence. But I feel pretty confident anyway.”

He stared at her, crossing his arms. It seemed he had calmed down a bit. “You know, you’ve had it out for me from the beginning. You’re not exactly unbiased.”

Adriana raised an eyebrow, but just continued her reasoning. “You’re a mob boss, right? The Underground Mafia?”

“M-Mob boss?” Violet looked at Teddy, hoping for an answer.

“Goddamnit.” Teddy shook his head, frustrated.. “Not all Italians are in the mafia, you know? It’s a fucking insensitive stereotype.”

“I’m just going from what Helios told me.”

Helios looked at Teddy sheepishly. “H-Hey now. I said alleged mob boss.”

“Jesus fucking Christ.” Teddy was clearly annoyed. “Everybody thinks they know everything. Not just out there, but also in here.”

“So you deny it?”

“Of course I deny it! Even if I were a mob boss, that doesn’t fucking mean I killed Albert and Emma.”

“It would certainly make you capable.”

Teddy rolled his eyes. “Jesus, you have nothing. This is the most worthless bluff I’ve ever seen.”

“Something’s been bothering me.” She continued. “When we started your trial, you quit immediately. Without even trying. Why?”

Teddy glared at Adriana. “Because I was trusting my instincts. Like Null said.”

“Uh-huh.” Adriana nodded. “There are only two reasons I think you would quit that trial. One, you killed Ghost. Two, you found out an easier way to get a vaccine.” She pointed at her stomach with that statement. “Am I right?”

He stared at her. He was very obviously unimpressed. “Again, everything you’ve said is just a goddamn theory. You have no evidence. There’s no reason it couldn’t be anyone else who found out about these scars.”

Bradley stared at the ongoing argument. It seemed he was remembering something.

Spoiler: Part 2
https://www.quicktopic.com/52/H/FLCrqVMHeichY

Spoiler: Part 3
“Miss Adriana’s right.” Bradley interrupted. “You wouldn’t have quit that trial.”

“Stay out of this, Bradley.” Teddy growled.

“Violet’s your daughter, right?”

Teddy was actually briefly silenced for once. A glint of fear flashed across his eyes, but only for a moment.

“N-No, I’m not!” Violet yelled.

“You are.” Bradley winced as he said it. “You wouldn’t have quit your trial, Mister Teddy. Not if you didn’t have another way. You would’ve gotten the vaccine in that trial...even if it meant killing all of us.”

Teddy just stared at Bradley, then back to Adriana. “None of this is relevant.”

“Then empty your pockets.”

“What?”

“There’s a reason we all have a stitched scar. There are vaccines inside of us that the killer wanted to retrieve. So empty your pockets.”

“No.”

“Empty them.” Violet was the one who spoke up now. She looked...scared. But it was a different kind of fear from normal. Teddy looked down at her, and then at everyone else who was looking at him expectantly.

Slowly, he lowered his arms and then reached his right hand in his pocket. He pulled out...three small, glass balls. They almost resembled marbles.

Midge’s eyes widened. “The circular indentations in the safe...are those…?”

Bradley suddenly put the pieces together. “You...found out how to open the safe?”

“Mr. Bianchi…” Helios took a step back. “No...I can’t even pretend this development is shocking...”

“What?” Teddy broke out into a smile. “I just found these. I got the first one from Ghost’s corpse, and the other two were in the garden.”

“You still continue to deny it?!”

“You...killed Albert and Emma.” Midge’s face contorted with rage.

“I didn’t do nothing.” He laughed. “Sure, i found these. And I guessed they could open the safe, but that’s it. The real villain here is The Dissector. They must be out there somewhere, right?”

Despite the great prices, nobody was buying Teddy’s bullshit.

“What? I’m serious!” Teddy defended. “They must be still alive! They can kill us at any moment!”

“This is just sad.” Adriana sighed. “Just admit it already.”

“I’m not admitting shit. I’m innocent.” Teddy reiterated. “You’re way off the mark, the killer is that Dissector. That crazy fucker. Makes a shitty situation even worse.”

Everybody just stared at him. Nobody could even offer a retort when it was clear he wouldn’t take it seriously.

He rolled his eyes at the reaction.“Alright fine. You got one thing right.” Teddy dropped his smile, and his face became completely still like a mask. The room almost felt colder. “Violet is my daughter.

"Wow, Mr. Bianchi, I hadn't realized you had a daughter!" Helios said, staring at him with a firm grip on the shotgun. "That's real sweet. You must have thought of her every time you went off to earn some clean, honest pay, huh?"

"...But you do realize that this does little too diminish our concerns, right?" He added, "You're still certainly the most suspicious person here. In fact, knowing this only gives us more reason to suspect you were behind these murders."

Bradley poked the stitching curiously "Well...whatever the reason, is it possible to extract these little spheres without killing someone?" He looked up at Teddy and tilted his head "I don't want to think Mr Teddy murdered them like that...but...it is odd, though I know he'd do anything to protect Violet." Bradley mulled it over a little "I'd rather we open the safe if we can take these things out safely."

Midge pushes her knuckles into her temple, grinding her teeth.

"I don't believe you Teddy. Your elaborate lies are nothing to me," she says, with a momentous roll of her eyes. "What are you, some kind of meatbag? How'd you kill Ghost with all that smoke in the air?"

"But Miss Midge, he can't have killed Ghost could he?" Bradley asked sniffing slightly at the thought "His trial was to find Ghost's killer, there's no way for him to win if he has to shoot himself. Plus...the wound was bigger when we...when we...went back. That would imply someone went back and went in to get the sphere, the wound was still plugged with the fire poker when we...first...found him." Bradley fell quiet not wanting to recall any more.

"Exactly! See, Bradley gets it," Teddy said. "You're all right, I do fucking want that vaccine--for Violet." He moved over to stand in front of her. "That's why I didn't say anything about the marbles. But beyond that, you have nothing but hot air. Hell, if you're so convinced I'm murdering everyone for marbles, why didn't I do my trial, huh? I could've killed you all, gotten the marbles, and probably have gotten a vaccine from trial in case the safe doesn't actually contain any vaccines. Wouldn't that make a lot more sense?"

"Maybe we all woke up before he could fish it out of Ghost," Midge replies to Bradley, her eyes slightly unfocused.

"Maybe Null thought you would kill yourself during the trial. I mean it seems like you're desperate to keep Violet safe."

"Maybe, and this one is interesting, you're not completely comfortable with killing everyone in front of your daughter."

"'Elaborate' is... charitable." said Adriana, grinning softly. "Still, if Teddy really did kill Ghost, I can't explain how Teddy was able to stay awake in the gas that knocked us out, and kill Ghost before it dispersed. Either he had control over when and where the gas would happen, so he could set things up ahead of time, or he had a way to stay conscious through the gas. Still, he had plenty of opportunity... with Albert and Dr. Montin."

"It's possible that Null didn't intend for Teddy to make it out of his trial 'alive'. Maybe Null was counting on his sense of self-sacrifice." Adriana feigned a cough. "But maybe... someone else tagged Ghost."

"Hah? How much of a fucking idiot are you?" Teddy sneered. "If the gas somehow didn't affect me--which it did!--why the fuck would I kill Ghost and smash the vaccines instead of, you know, fucking using the vaccines on Violet?!"

Bradley nodded "Though I don't agree with his use of language, I don't think it seems likely Mr Teddy killed Ghost given the circumstances."

Looking at the small marbles curiously he asked "Well Mr Teddy, if you didn't murder the others for them, how did you come to know about the marbles in the body?"

"I told you, I found the first marble in Ghost--after they had been killed--and the other two in the garden," Teddy said. "I mean, I guess I don't 'know' whether there's a marble in each of us and whether they open the safe, but... it seems pretty likely, doesn't it?"

"Why did you dig around in Ghost's stomach? Just one of those days?"

"Also, when you say you found these marbles were they just lying around on a clean surface with a sign that says take two, or were they nestled into the intestines of someone you hacked open?"

Midge raises her eyebrows contemplatively, as if she is open to whatever response Teddy is to tell.

"I noticed my own scar. I remembered Ghost's wound was about in the same place, so I decided to investigate," Teddy growled.

After a moment, he sighed.

"Look, at this point, it doesn't even fucking matter who killed them all. What matters is we know about the marbles... and the only people with guns are me and Helios." Teddy suddenly fixed his gaze on the politician.

"Alright, Helios. We did me and Albert's trials and got nothin' out of them, and it doesn't look like there's anything else here except that fucking safe. So you have three options.

"One: We do nothing, and wait around for Blight-Z to kill us all.

"Two: You decide to try to subdue me based on stupid conjecture that makes no fucking sense, and who the hell knows how that gunfight will end up.

"Or three, we work together, and use some noble sacrifices to open the safe and see what's inside."

Before his words can even sink in, Teddy starts talking again, a smirk on his face. "Oh, yeah. This might also help your decision-making. Remember how I was asking you about Adriana before, and you wanted to know why? It's cuz she's a fucking FBI agent. Just thought you should know."

And with that... it seems Teddy still wasn't finished. "I'll even sweeten the deal. Just for you. That... thing we discussed yesterday? If Violet gets out of here alive, consider it a... campaign donation. No further strings attached."

Adriana turned to face her boss. "Helios... what the hell is he talking about? I don't remember seeing anything like that on your itinerary."

"Hmm, now that you have incited violence, you seem pretty innocent," Midge whispers, strangely unnerved at Teddy's suggestion of inciting murder.

"Adriana, Bradley, you guys should get out of here. Helios, I think it's best if we get this guy off the streets," Midge loosens up her stance as if she could go toe to toe with a man with a gun.

"H-Hey, what the hell are you doing?!" Violet shouted. "Dad wouldn't hurt anyone! A-And even...even if he did, he was just trying to help me!" She moved next to Teddy, as if that would somehow protect him.

As Violet tried to move up next to him, Teddy moved to the side to block her. "Stay back," he growled.

He turned looked towards Midge, and grinned. "Try to take care of me, if you really want. Just don't punish Violet for having a crappy dad, 'kay?"

"Of course," Midge nods respectfully.

She takes out the bootknife like an old pro.

"Now seriously, leave here guys. Helios are you with us or what?"

Bradley stepped back at the mention of 'noble sacrifices' "But...but it might not need to be this way...there's a hospital...and tools...maybe we can get them out without killing anyone. This...this is pointless!"

While he tried to preach peace he still edged closer to the door ready to run at a moments notice.
