-The knockout gas had to have been used (and it was definitely used on Kyoya if you believe him).
-Kyoya had no reason to get knockout gas to use a device he had access to.
-When Althea came in with the gas he probably hit her with the laptop but didn't knock her out.
-In fact this is kinda sorta supported by the evidence since the laptop was not broken.
-Althea now had a head-wound and everybody would know it was from Kyoya's laptop so the only thing she could do at this point was to make herself appear to be a victim.

-Alternatively you can apply the above chain of events to a third party. Kyoya or Althea hit the killer with some tool and drew blood. The killer needed to cover up the crime so they knocked both Kyoya and Althea out (Kyoya was probably already unconscious from the killer's gas but that's besides the point) so they just made it look like the laptop hit Althea and drew blood when in fact something else happened but who knows what.

He held a finger up. "Althea had the knockout gas, which she likely used to knock Kyoya out. From there, she could have easily taken the laptop. According to Kyoya, there was already an RC car in the temple. Then she set a trap. Boom. Done. Way less convoluted, and a much more convincing alibi. Just as a killer would want."
