"I agree that we should get going. Talking won't get us anywhere." Hazel nodded. "Although, I have a feeling that we need to help Anna out first."

"Anna said that the door in her room requires two passcodes. One passcode is 4 letters and the other passcode is 4 numbers. We already got the 4 numbers needed... I have a suspicion that the information thingy that we got the number passcode from must be important." Hazel reminded everyone of the text file. "If we were to believe that information thingy is the key to Anna's freedom, then the 4 letters passcode... have to be a name. But what name?"

Anna's words are pretty dismissive as she just stands next to the doorway."I think I have it. One moment."

The computer screen suddenly closes the open programs and begins running something new:

Spoiler: Round 7: The Emissary
Pink is now The Emissary.

For this game, Anna has been disabled.

Pink must assign each player a nine-digit number secretly. During this process, Pink may not speak to anyone. After the numbers have been assigned, Pink may not type in chat about what numbers she has assigned to each player or answer any questions about it.

Next, Pink has $2,000,000 to give away. Pink can coordinate with the group about how much each player should get for winning. Pink gets final say on the amount each of the eight other players should receive for winning the round.

Each player will then have one chance to guess the number Pink gave to them. If they get it right, they win their prize. If they do not get it right, they lose.

Pink may not type any clues, but may inform players about actions they could take that would help them. There are no restrictions for her on actions other than typing.

A few potential solutions will be restricted from being replicated if they prove to be successful.

There is a sensory deprivation tank in the basement if needed! Good luck!

"...What." Was all Astrid managed to initially say.

After a few more moments she said, "All right, everyone else should reveal their current totals. That will make it easiest for Anna to decide how to distribute the money."

"Oh, dear me. You're right, Astrid. I have completely forgot about it." Hazel said as she checked her bracelet. "... $632,001. It seems like I have caught up with you now in terms of money."

As hint 1 appears on the screen, Hazel reads the hint carefully. "Perhaps the blinking slate might be part of the reason why the Fox Harbor Dam project was delayed." Hazel theorized, rubbing her chin carefully.

Maximillion looked at Anna with concern “Well, this seems a particularly hard challenge. More akin to some parapsychology experiment than a game really.” He said scratching his chin. “Though perhaps this sensory deprivation tank holds some clues too and I would very much like to try it out of curiosity.”

"Another allusion to Pink being Iris, another round to torment me..." Jason muttered.

"Alright, let's get this sorted then. Remember the piece of Blinking Slate we found in the... my bedroom? It was surrounded by markings like those in the Werewolf room. Factor in how the Werewolf room seems to have supernatural properties and I think it's safe to say there's Blinking Slate there too. I assume this strange rock connects to the Morphogenetic Field in some way.

"It was in that room that Ember experienced a 'fugue state'. The dam engineer experienced the same thing, therefore, perhaps it can be triggered by Blinking Slate, which is how they discovered it. That, or it's triggered by some... interaction, or what have you, with the Morphogenetic Field. Ember did say she could see the same information Hazel could in the Werewolf room, after all, which no-one else could. I suppose Hazel's always had a strong connection to these rocks, they're special to her family and I believe she's physically around them a lot, which would explain why she was the first to experience the 'visions', and the one who received the most of them. Incidentally, I assume it's safe to say the deposit of Blinking Slate is what delayed the dam's construction. Perhaps they wanted to mine it first. ETS certainly strikes me as a company that could make use of material like that, for all we know they use it to get their drones to work or some such thing.

"Anyway, my guess is that the answer Zero wants us to reach is 'Morphogenetic Field'. From what I've heard, maybe that's how Pink is supposed to communicate with us. It sounds absurd, but it would at least explain the purpose of that otherwise out-of-place sensory deprivation tank."

Maximillion’s face was riddled with scepticism but he nodded “Very well, let’s entertain this idea and maybe make sense of it. It sounds like the blinking slate must emit some form of radiation that causes some form of mutation allowing people to access whatever this morphogenetic field is which seems to be some form of kind of mind reading capability, perhaps from people who have also underwent this mutation?”

Maximillion’s body shook with silent chuckles “Why really it does sound something of a blessing, would be a great tool in games, assuming there’s no unpleasant side effects to this mutation.” He stepped out of the room “I do wonder how the sensory deprivation tank would help create this mutation though. Perhaps it is made out of blinking slate.”

"So, this next game is more like an experiment, then?" Ember asked. "Do we just take turns in the tank and wait for a vision or...?"

Remembering Astrid's suggestion, Ember showed her bracelet's total: Still 205,993.

“I still don’t quite grasp all this morphogenetic field nonsense,” Vivienne admitted. “I’ve never even heard of this before in my life, and it just sounds like a way for psychics to cheat at games...How does this even relate to the unanswered questions we have?”

“Oh, and my bracelet total hasn’t changed at all. Still $323,000,” she added with a sigh.

"Ah, Pink, there you are. I'm not so sure that's a good idea: if you give everyone that much, someone might be nudged over the finish line and the game will end right here. In particular, Luka's probably at that point by now, regardless of whether he really gave up half his winnings in his room," Jason said. "He stood to earn a lot from the apologies round."

Maximillion squinted at the screen "Ah my apologies, my eyes must be having an off-day. I misread the rules." He double-checked his bracelet "I stand at $453,243.31." he informed Pink.

"And yes, Astrid may be able to help us with that one. We should check out the sensory deprivation tank as well. I can't imagine that wouldn't have been mentioned if it wasn't important."

The group goes downstairs to check out the supposed sensory deprivation tank.

There in the center of the room by the hot tub is a large mechanical lever which was not there before.

The group decides to pull the lever, in interest of what it's capable of. The sun is beginning to set, so all the light in the basement comes from the flickering candle in the center and the light from some monitors.

A clacking noise of mechanical parts can be heard, and in the middle of the hot tub area, the water begins to bubble and rise.

It moves out of the way as a large tank, about as wide as a person is tall, rises from the water. A ladder leads up to it.

The lid opens and black water and darkness sits inside the tank.

Emerging from behind the group clad in his bright swimming trunks once more "HAHA! A professional gamer is prepared for any challenge!" Maximillion cited as he clapped his hands in anticipation for getting into the sensory deprivation chamber. "I am most eager to see what this is like. I hear it is meant to be something of an unsettling experience but I am always eager to try new things!" he said excitedly as he climbed the ladder leading to the chamber.

He paused at the top rung and turned back "That is...unless anyone else really wants to go first..." he asked.

Maximillion eagerly gets into the pod with a small splash. He fumbles around before he figures out how to float on his back inside.

The lid of the coffin slowly sinks down, sealing him inside, curling the darkness around him.

A few minutes pass and nothing has happened. Then, they hear banging on the inside of the pod. It sounds urgent.

Hazel's eyes widen when the banging was heard.

"Oh no... Max's in trouble. We have to open the tank to get him out...." Hazel said, a clear hint of fear in her voice. "But, the only problem is... How?"

"So it's true..." Astrid murmured to herself upon seeing Zero's hint, clearly shocked. So shocked, she apparently didn't say anything during the entire time the group was trying to figure out the sensory deprivation tank.

Max's banging seemed to bring her back to her senses, however. "I-It's the fugue state again. That's what Zero is referring to. I--don't know anything more than that. How it worked, or how to trigger it."

The lid of the deprivation tank cracks open.

"Leelee! Be careful!" a manly voice shouts from the chamber's interior.

The lid begins swinging Max sits there, eyes wide open, an unmistakable hint of horror on his face.

Maximillion blinked, water dripping from his moustache as took in his location.

“Oh...oh dear me...” he looked back into the pool and shook his head before brushing water out his eyes and hauling himself out of the pool.

“I...I must apologise. I think...I feel asleep or something in there.” He said quietly as he stepped off to a corner of the room behind a screen to change.

Maximillion’s head peeked out over the top of the screen as he quickly cried out.

“Nothing!”

The sound of rustling as his head disappeared below the screen.

“Nothing at all!”

More rapid rustling then quietly.

“Confound these buttons!”

The rustling stopped and Maximillion re-emerged from the screen as elegant and pristine as ever albeit with slightly wet hair.

“I became so relaxed and fell asleep. Encountered a nightmare of some sort.” He shook his head “Like I said I had heard it was an unsettling experience. I do not think I shall be making a habit out of it.” He said waving a hand and dismissing the matter.

"...Well. This is how Zero wants us to play this game. And if it's the same thing that happened with the dam, then..."

Astrid stepped up to the tank, resolute but also clearly nervous. She stopped short a few feet away.

"Are there... towels or anything?"

Luka turned to everyone else, sighing as he imagined the game ahead of him. "Alright, I'll be honest. I'm close to a million. Real close. Enough to win this game and leave a whole lot of the pie left for the rest of you guys."

"We can time things out, but I've been betrayed a lot today. There's a good chance this is the last round, and there's no way all of us are gonna make it. So we gotta choose. And I don't care how pathetic this sounds, but I deserve to. And all of you here know that I deserve it too." His words were less utterly miserable as before, but it was a start?

"So yeah, I don't know what the fuck I'm doing. I want to trust all of you and show my bracelet, but I know there's a good deal of you who would never let me win--and we still have Zero to worry about."
