Ace chuckled quietly to himself, and then erupted into maniacal laughter. “Hahahahah! Devin, did you really think I’d let you 'win' like this? You’ve gotta be kidding me!”
He lit a cigarette and looked over at Lucy, who looked like she was straining herself.
“As if I’d let you just ruin my game right here…” he muttered. “It’s so easy to interfere with your devices when I’ve seen how you make them, when I’ve provided some of the components…”
He stood up and pulled out his gun. “You know, I see a lot of myself in you. You’re a go-getter, selfish, and ultimately against the system. Yet, even still, you’re just another fool who couldn’t rise to the ranks of greatness. You played the wrong game. You played my game, and you lost…”
He took aim.
“And your wife and kid probably won’t like seeing this, but now we all know what you are in the dark. You’re pathetic. You’re nothing. You struggled, and worked, and slaved away, for what? Nothing. All it earned you...”
*BANG*
“...was a bullet.”
He looked at the contestants with a hint of pity, though, he seemed to be pissed off more than anything. “This High-Stakes Game is over. Lucy will update everyone on the final leaderboard shortly. After that, you’ll be able to leave.”
He walked past everyone and left the game room, but from just outside the doors he was heard saying, “I advise you all to get some sleep tonight!”
Once he was gone, Lucy relaxed. She looked like she was in pain, though. “Alright everyone… Just give me a moment to calculate totals and all that…”
Devin's body slumped forward on her podium... it seemed she really was dead.

“Okay, um,” Lucy said while looking around at the worn-out group of contestants. Covered in blood, sweat, tears, or all three -- she couldn’t help but feel terrible for them. While it may not have been of her own free will, she was partly to blame for everything up to this point. Assisting the mastermind of the killing game kind of puts that weight on you.
She gestured to the screen. “Here are the results…”

The display on the screen then turned into something else: it was a video of Ruby at the desk in her hotel room. She seemed to be writing something, and a synthesized voice-over began to speak.

“Um, that’s all…” Lucy said to the group. “I figured that, if they’re watching, Ruby’s family deserved to see that… you can all go now…”
Everyone shuffled out of the game room. Some were still clutching their stomachs, shaking, sobbing, or just emotionally vacant. Lucy sighed and began to inform all the cleaning bots in the system of their new job. For a moment, she gazed at Ace’s throne, knowing that’d be the last time she’d ever be near it.
“You’re still here…” she said. It turned out Myrion had stuck around for a little bit after everyone else left. He was waiting by the door. He didn’t say anything, and neither did she.
They shared a quiet moment together amongst the carnage.

“I should… probably go,” he said.
“Yeah…”
“Well, I’ll see you around, then...” He waved to her, knowing full-well he wouldn’t.
She waved back to him until he went out the doors. Lucy took one final look around the room before returning to Ace’s office for the last time.
