"Robots? You sure those things are robots?" 'Psycho' asked warily. "Some of them seem pretty real to me... especially that spider thing! Maybe you haven't heard it yet, but the sounds it makes... there's something real strange about them. Like it gets right inside your head, talks to the little animal part of your brain and tames it. It's freaky! Really freaky!"

“Really?” Velma asked. “I can’t say I’ve heard it yet, but that is pretty creepy... That being said, I’m not 100% sure they’re robots, if I’m being honest. But there’s no way they’re real monsters. Someone or something has to be controlling them. We just have to find out who!”

"You're the expert, I guess," 'Psycho' replied, biting her thumbnail anxiously. "I just hope you're right. I'm not sure I can take much more of this."

Some time passed uneventfully after that, so 'Psycho' eventually put on the VR helmet again. Once in the strange new location Skully had cooked up, she shivered. "So we're a mindless, pitchfork-wielding mob now, huh?" she said sardonically. She glared at the carved rock with the monster names on it, feeling at least a little reassured that they might just be people faking it.

In response to Dario's question, she shook her head. "Sorry, not me. 'least not yet. I don't really like my options - don't feel like trapping Velma or whatever - so I guess I could try looking around for a trap door. Either that or I can stay where I am and try thinking of somewhere a clue might be." It seems she was saying she didn't have the movement cards Dario was looking for, so could either try and discard action cards to maybe draw a Trap Door card, or discard her movement cards to maybe draw a Search For Clues card.

"Roight, I tried being the bait at the Entrance but there weren't any monsters there..." Buffy states. "I guess that crosses off both me and Deianira from the list of culprits, dunnit?"

"This is why I call ya 'Buffoon' sometimes, Buffy," 'Psycho' said rudely. "Skully already said the monsters move independently from whoever's responsible for them."

Tucker sighed, taking his cap off and scratching his hair. It had burnt off a bit, but thankfully not too much. Hearing Lori's questioning, he gave a frown, understanding her implications. "Are we goin' there already, Lori? Jeez." He shook his head. "For the record, I'm not doing great myself, but I'm not exactly gonna quit just yet either. 'Sides, if you wanna say I've been sabotagin' everybody here, how come I got attacked by the dude? Did I attack myself then? Just make myself lose some courage for no reason other than to make myself look suspicious now?"

"Anyway, on the topic of this saboteur, I'd like to say that I've made a bit of a discovery here." He cleared his throat. "I dunno if Lori found anythin' in her examination of the Catacombs of importance but I checked the wreckage of the rollercoaster car that went haywire earlier and... well, I found the remains of a low-quality lookin' bomb. Near it I found a charred coat, and lookin' inside and, whaddaya know?" He gave a smirk. "They were filled with more bomb-making supplies! Practically filled with 'em, I figure. There's no doubt in my mind that this belongs to our saboteur friend."

"And let me tell you, the coat was absolutely stuffed with 'em! It was a big coat, I figure- big enough to belong to somebody of a broader body type. So that's one detail we can note about that fellow, right?" He beamed. "If what Psycho found earlier is relevant, then they're probably a tall dude as well. Though the fact there was a fifth suit at all was kinda weird... maybe they're able to move around invisibly with that too?" He suggested. "They gotta, otherwise I don't see how that plays into anything at all."

"...Oh, and I guess that I should probably add that you guys only have my own word on the evidence I found", he added halfheartedly. "I know I'm not exactly the best person to have found it, but I wasn't really expectin' to get it in the first place. Still, I tried to be as in-depth as I could about it, so hopefully you all understand my reasoning, right?"

"Anyway, if we're discussing what to do next, then I'm probably gonna move to somewhere else usin' those fancy doors." He seemed to be referring to the Scooby Dooby Doors. "If that saboteur isn't me and he stays right there, then it should show, hopefully." He gave a shrug.

"Hey, nice, a dunk tank! Kinda always wanted to give one of those a try..." Vickie chirped.

"Anyway, evidence is evidence, good work, Tuck," she added after Tucker testified about his findings. "Better work than me. I came up empty again. Just found one of those cardboard stand-up things... of me. Little embarrassing...

"Oh, and, uh, speaking of embarrassing," Vickie continued, a bit more bashfully, "I know I haven't been too helpful so far, and I didn't wanna make a deal out of it, but if any of ya have a minute, do ya think ya could... head over to where I am and maybe gimme a little pep talk or something? I'm doing my best to tough it out, but things are starting to get to me a bit, ya know?

"If not, that's cool, I get it, I can always jump over to one of those parties ya guys are having. It's just, I'd have to give up my search here to do that, and I feel like I'm getting close to something good..."

(OOC translation: Vickie really needs a Courage boost; she can either give up her movement this round in order to potentially get a Search card for the last bag of evidence and hope someone comes to her to Raise Morale, or use SDD to go to someone who's planning to Raise Morale)

“I think I can help out anyone with low morale.” Velma said “The only problem is that I could only bring one other person to me before I do it, I can’t go to anyone else.”

“Psycho, Fred, do you guys think you’d be able to help raise morale at all as well? I uh could use a boost too if I’m being honest.” She admitted sheepishly.

Daphne decided it was a good time to chime in. "Hey, I found some evidence, too! In the parking lot, I found a ruptured bagpipe in the trash can but, when I got a better look at it, it looked more like a helium balloon painted in plaid. I then learned that the balloon could probably allow a skinny person to fly. That's why I think that whoever the bagpipe wraith is must be skinny."

"Good work, gangerino!" Moe smiles. "I found a whole lotta nothing, but that's okay! It's all a group effort, innit?"

"I'd like to be chill and bring some pep in everyone's step, but I don't got that in me right now. Sorry folks." Moe frowns.

"If the little Buffster tried baiting out some monsters, then that means none of them are nearby. If we think 'bout who was affected by that elephant head's attack, we might be able to assume they're currently hanging out by the Ferris Wheel, or potentially the Stage?" Moe asks nobody in particular. "If like our Skelly Dude pointed out, and the park IS divide into segments, and Monsters can only target certain segments from other segments, then I'm gonna go out and guess the Elephant is currently chilling in one of the two previously mentioned spaces, and can hit some two tiles around the one their in."

"Does that make any sense?" He doesn't let anyone answer him though, he just keeps going. "If the monsters really do be workin' like that, then perhaps the BAGPIPE MONSTER is chillin' in the same tile as Eddy and Gabby. Heh. Geddy and Ebby."

"Or maybe they're hangin' out in one of the tiles around them, but considering what kind of attack they did, I'm leaning towards thaWraith being in the same tile as those two. Can't be sure though!"

"I ain't got the faintest clue on where the other two freaks might be, or who the rat on the inside is! All I gotta say to that saboteur is this:
Please leave Frankie outta this mess!"

Moe then crosses his arms, impressed with his weird theories.

"Think I'll take ya up on that kind offer, Vel." Vickie gave the younger girl a smile and a half-wave, half-salute. "I feel better already. Do ya want me to come there, or are ya giving me a ride?"

"Actually do any of you friends have one of them trap doors?" Moe asks. "I'm kinda sick of being in this here lot, you see. I wanna get out and EXPLORE the park, ya dig?"

"I don't got any actions in me, and I seem to have a strange urge to run up and down, but if none of y'all can help me I'd just be heading to the Entrance."

"If I stay where I am, maybe I can come up with some way to lighten the mood," 'Psycho' suggested. "Though we should give Vickie the chance to get that last evidence too. Gotta handle the uh, whatchamacallits, logistics, right? No point me cracking a few bad jokes or whatever it is you guys do if Vickie's still busy finding clues. So like, first Vickie finds the last clue, then someone brings her here, then me an' Velma can go about with the cheer. If Vickie's gotta slow down to find that clue, Velma might have to move her, so we can't do much about Moe." In other words, if Vickie was going to sacrifice movement cards to try and pick up the last clue, Velma would have to bring her to the Fairgrounds.

[I'm instituting a rule where players may choose to leave the game board at any point by notifying me in their QT. Their escape will be handled in the same way as someone who's been forced to leave, and their evidence will still be made public. However, Villains will still be able to control their monsters.

Also, at the beginning of the next phase, the board will be bombed with even more evidence! Get ready to grab some clues!]

"This just isn't fair!" Elisa stomps on the ground, sighing. "I don't really think I can do more than move through a few trapdoors and place a trap or something... I'm probably just gonna move all the way over to the funhouse I guess? That sounds good to me."

"So. Eyyy, guys, how's it going..." Ed said. But like, low energy. He wasn't even wearing his tech wizard robes. "I'm thinking I'm gonna stick around here and brainstorm some publicity. Y'know, for morale. I also got a trap door here, if anyone wants to come here I can see where it goes."

Gabby unmasks herself and a hundred smaller clowns fly from her body like bees.

The little clowns thirst for the blood of an unmasking but lack the higher reasoning necessary to help it to happen and await ideas.

"Oh, yeah," said Lori. "I didn't find any clues. Just this." She gestured to the "#1 DAD" hat that she was wearing. Somehow, all of her hair was tucked into it.

She crossed her arms. "Alright. Dario, I'll get you to the Catacombs. And then... I dunno, I guess I'll take a break. Maybe play some carnival games or someth--"

Then the baby clowns flew out of Gabby's face, stopping Lori's train of thought. Lori raised her hands in a peaceful gesture and backed away slowly. "Uh... Whoa."

Honks fill the air as the little clowns corner Lori. They take the hat but it turns out that the hat is too heavy for them to carry and they fall to the ground with a squishing noise, crushed under the hat.

"H-hey! HEY!" Lori desperately tried to swat the tiny flying clowns away, but there were just too many. The hat was lifted away, and Lori's hair sprung out from its confinement and returned to its wild shape. The hair that was still there, that is. A large section of it was missing.

She chased after the little clowns (who thankfully didn't get very far), snatched her hat from the ground, and stuffed it back onto her head.

"Um." She turned bright red with embarrassment and cleared her throat. "There was a fire. I don't wanna talk about it."

Then Lori said, "YEOWCH!" and yanked the hat off. One of the tiny clowns dangled from the hat, having apparently hitched a ride. Another was now on Lori's head, gnawing and tugging on her hair. She winced. "Help?" she said to no one in particular.

It's too late. What remains of Lori's hair is completely pranked at this point. The gaffs and gags send a chill down everyone's spine. That could have been them.

The little clown disintegrates back into balloons which float away into the digital world tm.

Scooby is safe I guess but everyone knows that Gabby isn't done with him yet gosh dang it.

Lori stared at the balloons. At Gabby. At the hat. Back at Gabby. Then she put the hat back on and did her best to look like she hadn't just been robbed of her dignity, reminded of her inevitable mortality, and totally pwned.

"Anyway... Yeah. Anyone else need a pick-me-up, I'll whip something up at the catacombs."

“I can raise morale,” Fred finally replied to Velma’s inquiry. Seems like he was rather dazed from that trap door being used on him. “Though I can also set a trap... Maybe I should do both of those things? Boost morale then set a trap, or set a trap and then boost morale? Either way, I wouldn’t be moving from where I am.”

"Er, um..." Vickie stammered, doing her best to ignore the clown. "...Ah, thanks, Blaze, but ya don't need to go to the trouble for me. I'll be going to the fairgrounds soon as Vel gives me an out. I don't think I can do any more searching around right now, but I can try to cheer up anyone who wants to go over to the fairgrounds."

A rain cloud appears over Skully’s head, pouring water all over him as he laments the lack of an Unmask that round.

“Man, if I had tear ducts I’d be sobbin’ buckets right now. I guess there’s next time though. Hopefully you guys don’t regret your decision here!” he remarks ominously.

“Well, it’s too late now. Looks like the monsters are about to get moving again,” Fred says, “Let’s split up, gang!”

Everybody runs off to continue their hunt for clues!

New evidence has been dropped into the board!

Image

Spoiler: Monster Attack 1
—The shambler is on the move!
—The elephant head picks up the dunk tank and drops all the water inside on that dude it picked up earlier. Velma, Fred, Psycho, and Elisa are shocked at this display of cruelty! Some of them are having trouble holding it together now! [Fear increases by 4.]
—The wraith is on the move!
—The spider slings webs into the The Maw! The sticky webs cover the floor, trapping Elisa!

Spoiler: Turn 1
—Dario uses a Trap Door! Intending to save Tucker from that wily saboteur, he busts a hole in the blacktop with his head and reaches inside, yanking the bassist out of the Catacombs.
—Moe Runs West! He heads to the Entrance, where the disagreement between Buffy and the guards is becoming violent!
—Gabby uses a Trap Door! The ground beneath Scooby suddenly opens up, and several long arms with comically big hands pull the whimpering dog inside. He emerges at the Eateries, where Gabby tries to give him a suspicious sandwich!
—Vicky does nothing.
—Ed Runs West! He charges off into the Maw and immediately gets his foot caught in a web! That’s what happens when you run straight into spiderweb central, I guess.
—Deianira Runs West! Due to her timely arrival at the Eateries, Gabby is forced to stop terrorizing Scooby out of concern for the possible consequences.
—Fred Sets a Trap! He sets up a large electromagnet in the middle of the walkway and then throws a bunch of forks at Psycho. The powerful magnet attracts the forks and pulls Psycho with them, sticking her to the magnet. To everyone’s surprise, the elephant head gets sucked in as well! It struggles with the magnet before breaking free, but it left some evidence behind!
—Daphne Runs West! Deciding that she’s had enough of Buffy’s shenanigans, she heads to the Eateries and grabs a bite to eat.
—Elisa is stuck in the webs! She can’t move!
—Lori uses a Trap Door! At the Parking Lot, Dario trips and stumbles into the hole he left for Tucker. He pops out at the Catacombs, where Lori pulls him out of the trap door.
—Psycho is trapped! She can’t move!
—Tucker uses Scooby Dooby Doors! He smiles and waves at the hole where Dario just was and then leaps into the window of a passing car, exiting from between two rides at the Fairgrounds. He rushes to join the party!
—Velma uses a Trap Door! While Vicky desperately continues her search for that last piece of evidence, she trips and falls into a pipe! Meanwhile, Velma opens a tent at the Fairground, allowing Vicky to stumble out and onto the floor.
—Blaze Sets a Trap! He leaves a bear trap on the ground, but no one steps in it.
—Buffy uses a Scooby Snack! Hoping to distract the guards, he tosses the treat into the Gift Shops. However, it only attracts the attention of Moe, who does a dolphin-like leap toward the shops and snatches it out of the air.
—Shaggy Raises Morale! He dances like no one is watching, which is appropriate because no one is watching. However, his Courage still increases by 2.
—Scooby Runs West! Hoping to escape the clown, he scurries into the Fairgrounds! The crowd here is getting pretty large. There’s no way that will be a problem, right?

Current Participants

Spoiler: Monster Attack 2
—The shambler charges into the Entrance, head broiling, and goes on a rampage, trying to grab the heads of everyone in the room! The park authorities run off in a panic, and Buffy is forced to hide in the bathroom! His Courage decreases by 3!
—The head is on the move!
—The wraith jumps into the mummy go-kart and drives it into the air! He resumes his song while driving in front of the full moon, and while it’d make a great logo for a film company, it’s just frightening to Ed, Elisa, and Blaze! [Fear Level increases by 3.]
—The spider is on the move!

Spoiler: Turn 2
—Dario Searches for Clues! He finds a big chunk of evidence at the heart of the Catacombs, buried under a gravestone.
—Moe does nothing.
—Gabby Raises Morale! She pulls off a clever trick where it looks like she’s juggling her own head! Deianira and Daphne are disturbed but kind of impressed. Daphne and Deianira’s Courage increases by 4. Gabby’s increases by 2.
—Vicky is trapped! She can’t do anything!
—Ed is trapped! He can’t do anything!
—Deianira tries to Be the Bait! She plays some really bad harp music, hoping one of the monsters will come try to shut her up. Unfortunately, it fails.
—Fred does nothing.
—Daphne tries to Be the Bait! She observes Deianira failing to be the bait and decides it’s worth a try as well. She shouts through a megaphone, acting like a vulnerable damsel, but none of the monsters are interested.
—Elisa Sets a Trap! She grabs some webs and slings them like a lasso, wrapping up Ed who had his foot stuck anyway. He shouts some muffled objections but otherwise accomplishes nothing.
—Lori Raises Morale! She dabs or something maybe. Her Courage increases by 2. Dario’s Courage increases by 4.
—Psycho Raises Morale! She teams up with Vicky and Tucker to give an impromptu concert. It’s a lot better than the last one, so everyone starts wondering who was truly to blame for the earlier fiasco. Psycho’s Courage increases by 2. Fred, Vicky, Scooby, Tucker, and Velma’s Courage increases by 4.
—Tucker Sets a Trap! He judo throws Vicky in the middle of one of those rides with the spinny cars and starts it up. Unable to leave out of fear of getting whacked by a metal car, she’s forced to wait inside.
—Velma Raises Morale! She conducts a thorough statistical analysis of the situation and predicts the Heroes’ likelihood of winning at 99%. While the numbers are absolutely bogus, everyone believes her anyway. Velma’s Courage increases by 2. Vicky, Tucker, Fred, Psycho, and Scooby’s Courage increases by 4.
—Blaze uses Scooby Dooby Doors! He finds a large green pipe near the outskirts of the Go-Kart Track. He climbs on top and crouches. Within seconds, he’s sucked inside and emerges from a pipe in the Power Plant.
—Buffy Runs North! He follows Moe into the Gift Shops!
—Shaggy does nothing.
—Scooby Searches for Clues! He sniffs around the fairgrounds, discovering some evidence underneath a ride.

Spoiler: ???
—A bomb explodes at the Fairground stables, releasing a horde of angry cows! The animals begin to stampede through the Fairgrounds, trampling wooden stands, knocking over machines, and chasing down everyone nearby. Fred, Velma, Vicky, Psycho, Tucker, and Scooby are absolutely terrified. [Fear increases by 6.]

A pervasive tension fills the air. For some it proves to be too much! They frantically rush out of the park!

EXT. PARKING LOT - NIGHT

Shaggy is cowering under a car in the parking lot, assaulted from all sides by distressed cries and the angry snorting of cows. Once it begins to die down, he glances out from the car just in time to see four people charging out of the park.

BUFFY has a comically large bump on his head and some toilet paper stuck to his foot.

ELISA is covered in spider webs and looks like she’s seen some horrifying things.

VELMA holds a broken laptop in her hand that’s marked on top with a massive hoofprint.

LORI just looks bored. She’s scrolling through pictures she took during the experience.

Shaggy crawls out from under the car and steps in front of them.

“Like, where are you dudes going?”

The four exchange nervous glances, realizing they all had the same idea.

[The four unfortunate skedaddlers can now make one final post before they leave. Shaggy can also post because he’s epic. There are no limits to what you can talk about in these posts, so feel free to give your thoughts on who the monsters are. Afterwards, Shaggy will receive all the evidence they’ve picked up and the Talk it Out phase will begin.]

"So, like. This was fun back before my hair caught on fire, but... you know... then my hair caught on fire." Lori shrugged. "So I'm goin' home. Sorry."

She looked down guiltily and scuffed her foot against the dirt. "'Nira... Dario... Good luck."

Lori turned and began to walk away all dramatic-like.

Halfway to the exit, she turned around and called out, "Oh, yeah! And I'm also pretty sure Tucker's the saboteur. 'Cuz, like. He's always where the saboteur is? So... Yeah."

Then she walked away all dramatic-like.

Until she got to the exit. Then she realized something.

"Oh. Duh. You probably want my evidence. Here." She set the "?" bag containing the fire hose parts on the ground. After great hesitation, she also removed her hat and set it down next to the bag.

She turned around once more.

Then she walked away, for the last time.

The drama of the moment (whatever was left of it, anyway) was somewhat undermined by the large bald spot on the back of her head.

"That like totally blows man! However, I do get where you guys are coming from. I'm actually quite surprised that I'm not like running myself. Thanks for the evidence, I'll be sure to take good care of it. I guess it's time to reveal my ability..." Shaggy, who was still slightly trembling in fear, waved goodbye.
