[Oh oops might've misunderstood something]

The Detektiv and Doctor examine the body, tilting it slightly in place to make sure nothing is underneath it. It doesn't appear anything is. Separate from the body, a single nitroglycerin pill is found on the other side of the room. Which is quite strange considering the bottle is closed...

There doesn't appear to be anything else of interest in this room.

Ingrid seemed lost in thought, not even acknowledging most of everyone else present. The stiff smile she'd had on all day was replaced by a more natural, if puzzled expression. "... Would it be possible to induce a heart attack on him? To make it seem natural? But then why move the body..."

"... Ah. Mia, are you alright?" she asked, putting a hand on her shoulder. She was far more concerned about her friend seeing a corpse than her father being dead.

"M-me? Um, yes... I-I suppose, all things considered..." Mia murmured. She quickly put on a weak smile and returned the gesture. "Um, but what about you? I barely knew him, but you, well..." she trailed off awkwardly.

"... Father died to me a long time ago." she answered simply. "I'm fine."

Then, she seemed to have an idea. Her eyes showed an odd glint. "I'll be right back, just give me a minute."

From the sound of the door opening and wind rushing in that followed her exit, it seems she outright left the manor.

Due to his lessened mobility, Heinrich arrived a bit late. Though he had already heard the news by then. When he reached his brother's corpse, he shuddered for a bit. Being unable to look at it, he silently faced the floor. However, this didn't last for long as his legs started trembling which forced him to find a place to sit. "Sorry for asking this, as I've just got here, but how certain are we that some foul play was involved? I wouldn't like to think that a member of our family would stoop as low as murdering a helpless old man like this?"

Juna arrived even later than the others, having changed her uniform presumably because her kitchen one was stained. The chef's skull cap is no longer there either. Creeping up behind the rest, she holds a hand in front of her mouth to cover a gasp.

"Is this... why Ingrid left?" The servant asked, somewhat timidly.

Ingrid came back a while later, covered in snow and shivering heavily. Still, she didn't seem demoralized. "... I-It's still closed. T-The tomb, it's s-still closed."

"M-Must've been someone here, then..."

"Shit, shit, shit..."

Fritz muttered to himself, pacing near the wall. He let out a ragged sigh and pressed a hand on the wall. Tears formed in the corner of his eyes, but he struggled to keep them back, though whether he did so or out of spite for Albrecht was unclear.

"What's all this talk about murder?" Fritz eventually asked, "The man was barely holding on as is! Couldn't he have just dropped his heart medicine? Being locked up with our father's corpse is bad enough without making a massive production out of it!"

"Jesus...how much worse is this reunion going to get?" Fritz asked, shaking his head.

Fritz seemed taken aback by the question. He paused for an uncomfortably long time.

"There was a fly..." he eventually said. "It was incredibly loud and obnoxious, so I threw a shoe at it. I missed."

No one found the explanation entirely believable.

“While this is strange, it does seem a bit hasty to jump to murder,” Raphael concurred. “He didn’t seem the type to suddenly stop taking his medicine (he probably wanted to stay around and act wretched to everyone for as long as he could), but...” Raphael’s mask turned to face Verrier. “Could he still open and take he medicine on his own? If he had an attack, would he have known to take that medicine?”

"He... might have done," Verrier said uncertainly. "But then why is there a pill over there? If he knew to take one, why did he apparently throw it away and then go through the effort of closing the bottle mid-heart-attack? If he didn't know to take one, how did one get out of the closed bottle?"

"Yes, yes. That's probably for the best," replied Heinrich still processing the death of his brother, "Now Friedrich, I'm not saying you did it. It's hard to imagine any of us did, you least of all. However, nevertheless, here we are and regrettably we need to treat everyone with a degree of suspicion. It's not too late to tell us what really happened. Surely, it's no longer worth hiding now that we’re doubting you like this," Heinrich tried to appeal to Fritz, not necessarily expecting it to work.

"Actually, the pill is rather trivial to explain." Christof addressed everyone.

[Scene Music]

"First, we have the closed room. The chain appears to only be lockable from the inside, but that doesn't mean there isn't some tool or other method that could've set the chain. What's important is why the closed room exists--to support the narrative that Albrecht died of a heart attack in this room, and locked the door himself."

He turns flashily, pointing at the pill. "Here's what happened. Albrecht came up here with the help of our killer. And then at some point, he began to have a happenstance heart attack. He went for his medication, but the killer grabbed the bottle from him so he was unable to prevent it. I imagine during this struggle the medication went everywhere."

And finally, the denouement. "The killer gathered every pill they could, placing it back in the bottle. However they missed one. ... but this is just one theory. Maybe this pill is just a tic-tac instead."

"Perhaps you should give it a taste, sir." Agnes giggles, though her tone was serious. "Or more likely, Verrier would be able to tell... Or we could compare the pill with the ones in Grandfather's bottle..."

Verrier examined the pill in question. "It's nitroglycerin," he confirmed. "You can compare it to the ones in the bottle if you want to double-check."

He suddenly sat down on the floor, looking tired. "This is all rather too much for me..."

"No," Fritz said, his voice free of inflection. "He said nothing of any importance to anyone. Just ranted about closed rooms and how much of a loser I supposedly am. Frankly, I'm sick of hearing his voice."

Fritz turned to Mia and shook his head dismissively.

"Despite all that, I don't think he's alive. I'm more willing to believe his ghost is haunting this manor, eternally aggravated by the fact that he died in an unlocked room. Either that, or I need to see a psychiatrist. The way today's going, probably a bit of both."

"Seriously... I don't think I'll be able to sleep w-well with all this talk of seeing g-ghosts." Harley said, looking very spooked out about it.

He went to one of the servants and explained his request for fresh batteries as apparently, the ones in his radio were dead. Having made the request, Harley went back to the group.

"Hmmm... You think someone ruined Gideon's perfect locked room death, Fritz? At least, that's what you're implying... Like maybe someone found out what he was planning to do that night?" Harley theorized.

"I think we can bear to apply a little bit of common sense here." Ingrid said. "Friedrich just got accused of a fatal hit and run, I think this is less evidence of the existence of ghosts and more a sign of a nervous breakdown."

“Ah, but maybe Father went to see him?” Agnes interjected, nodding to herself. “It’s his birthday too, perhaps he was expecting a gift from Uncle Frederich?”

“And, Verrier...” Agnes said turning over to face the man. “You must surely know a lot about Grandfather, right? How heavy was he? Do you think anyone could’ve carried him, or...?” Any sort of sadness Agnes had over Albrecht’s death was gone. Or rather, a stronger emotion was talking its place. There’s a mystery to solve now, after all.

Meta doesn't speak up for a while. She simply watches the frenzy sweep over the others with a slightly drowsy expression on her face.

Sensing a space in the discussion, she clears her throat. "Naturally, it's ridiculous for Albrecht to climb two staircases and then die in a room with the latch done. But I personally don't exactly see how this is possible without some sort of cooperation from Albrecht. He must have let his guard down and so the killer was able to grab his medicine. After all, there's not exactly any other markings on him, so I don't think he wrestled for it. In my experience, Albrecht only trusts men, so I would intuit that the killer is one of the men."

“That has nothing to do with it,” Fritz replied, “He’s been showing up for over a year now. And if you’re going to call me insane, you might as well throw Edna and her daughter into the funny farm as well. Either way, I don’t think these sightings have anything to do with Albrecht.”

“You’ve got a point there, Agnes,” Fritz replied, “Good thing I’ve got five gifts lined up if he ever shows his face again.”

He clenched a fist in front of his chest.

“They all come in one package, and delivery is immediate.”

Edna seemed shocked that Fritz had talked to Gideon. The more he spoke of him as if he were some monster though, she grew increasingly uncomfortable. "Fritz, please... Don't talk of my husband like that. He's a very kind man. I'm sure there was just a very... unfortunate misunderstanding between the two of you just now."

Shaking her head, she turned away from him. "I've been wondering... in regards to how Albrecht was moved upstairs, was he transported separately from his wheelchair? I... that is to say, did whoever kill him- assuming this was a murder, anyway- bring him up to the steady on their own and then brought the wheelchair? The order could have been reversed too, I'm just curious as to whether this would have been possible. Albrecht could have been seated on a bed while waiting during this. Would the killer have been able to lift him up two floors? You would know his weight and such, Doctor", she addressed Verrier.

Verrier, still seated on the floor, looked uncomfortable. "I had a feeling, but... I suppose I really am the only one upset about master Albrecht's death. Perhaps this is what some of you felt like when Gideon died: in a sense I deserve this."

He looked over at Agnes. Even now, his expression was unreadable. "I imagine just about anyone here could have carried both Albrecht and the wheelchair if they put their mind to it."

“Consider yourself lucky that you can say that about him,” Fritz replied. “I haven’t heard a single ‘kind’ thing from him for the last two years—just an endless stream of taunts and ridicule. It really wears a man down.”

Fritz elected not to comment on Albrecht’s murder, still too emotional to give it any thought. He tried to head toward the room’s exit, only to get his foot caught on Christof’s crime scene tape and nearly collapse to the floor.

"You've been seeing Uncle Gideon for that long, Dad?" Erik incredulously asked his father, brow furrowed with confusion and curiosity. "Why didn't you tell us? I know it sounds unbelievable, so that's probably why, but... you should've said something. No point dwelling on it now, though..."

He turned toward Verrier and nodded at his theory.

"I think that makes sense. If he was dead, he wouldn't put up any resistance, and would, obviously, be quiet. Even if he was going up there willingly, someone probably would've heard him grouching about... something. Though, would our supposed killer be able to transport him and the wheelchair at once, or would they have to get one and then the other, thus taking two trips? And besides, how did they get out of the room after it was locked? The window is an option, but that's locked too..."

"Plausible," Juna commented. She gave a good look at Fritz falling over, which she seemed to have slightly enjoyed, apparently. She then turned back to Verrier, folding her arms, "But would you put it beyond most people here to have murdered him?" The servant asked, with an inquisitory tone and an apparently careful choice of words.
