"Maybe she hit herself, as part of a prank," Verrier said sarcastically. "How quickly does the poison in Gideon's room kill?"

"Mia was injected with something," Fritz suggested, "Possibly through the door or window."

"Um..." Mia furrowed her brow. "Maybe they coated something with the poison and hit me with it? That way the wound wouldn't technically be killing me, it'd be the poison..."

“Maybe something was coated with poison, but going by the theory you were struck with it still keeps the killer ‘trapped’ in the closed room.” Gideon sighed. “Maybe think real hard back to the crime scene...”

“Oh and the poison acts after a few minutes.”

"The... phone was rigged to inject her with poison?" Verrier hazarded. "She would have held it up to her head after all."

Mia shivered as she lightly touched the corner of her mouth. "T-that... did I...? W-wait, but then how did my head get hit if nobody was in the room?"

"If you fell and hit your head on something, then the killer wouldn't need to be in the room at the time. Either way, if the wound was non-lethal, then... Ingrid could have taken it out of the room and then put the tape on afterwards, while you were dying of poison. The red truth would still hold up then. Otherwise the killer would need to remove it when we all entered the room, which strikes me as difficult."

"I suppose if she hit her head in the bathroom, the blood could have been washed away," Verrier suggested uncertainly. "I considered before that the gun hit her somehow, and by being thrown outside we never found it bloody, but the recent red stymies that."

"Just when I thought you couldn't suck more dick, you've gone and done this," Edelfäule grumbles like sandpaper made from shards of glass. The rot must feel like hell on her throat. "So, it's a mystery of the secret cleaning method. I can't wait to see what as-seen-on-tv bullshit you pull out of your ass."

"How about this, someone wiped an item clean of blood when they entered the scene after the room was unsealed?"

"Acknowledge me! Your pathetic runny shitberg of a story is no match for a shit mountaineer like myself. Your withered bowels must be killing you. I can relieve you of your legacy, if you need some help," Edelfäule's eyes ooze with open malice.

"When the poison from the phone killed Mia, she collapsed and hit a table with her head. When the scene was discovered, Juna wiped the blood off of that table with her hands, by pretending to use it for support."

[Edelfäule's Theme]

She opens a copy of ghost fables and points at a page, "Get fucked."

Juna looked up from her book, staring inquisitively at Edelfäule. For a moment, she wondered if there was merit in keeping this going. But there wasn't.

She shut the book in one loud, swift motion, and then she spoke, "Like you said, I poisoned Mia and then cleaned the blood off just as you described, " A tinge of a smirk painted her face, "I'm just shocked it was someone else -- practically, an outsider to us -- to figure all of this out! Maybe this family simply didn't care about a Stasi agent, which is completely valid, wouldn't you say?" The maid turned to Mia expectantly.

"So.... Juna admitted to killing Mia?" Harley said before realizing what happened.

"Gideon, earlier, you said that Mia's killer killed more than just one person... And since Juna killed Mia, would it be safe to assume that she killed both Julia and me? Or are we dealing with more than one killer?" The mechanic asked, an eyebrow raised.

"You act surprised, but you don't have a clue about what collaborating with the Stasi means, do you?" Juna pointed out with an absolutely vile tone, "No, not even a simple collaborator- she worked with them! Did she ever tell you how many refugees she reported to East Berlin, or were you never privy to that information?"

Unlike you, who killed her barely hours ago, and without a shred of remorse." Ingrid answered. "And not just her either. Who else did you kill? What was the justification for Erik? Or maybe Julia? Or the impostor?"

"Leaving a past like that behind? Please! You, of all people, should know that others never really change." Juna looked towards Gideon for a few seconds, "Besides, if I told you the answers to the rest, it wouldn't make for a very fun mystery for you, would it? And you enjoy those, right?" Juna said, in a very teasing tone.

"What I'll tell you," she paused, her expression darkening, "-- is that you'd understand how I felt if you were ever in my position. The disgust, hate and paranoia. They're not things people like you ever had to go through."

“I actually believe we’re beginning to wrap things up.” Gideon corrected, enjoying the new direction of the story. “I’m not too concerned with anything you have to share, but if you don’t wish to I have other ways to make that information available.”

Edelfäule shakes her head derisively, her large corkscrew horns threatening to cut the nearest throats to her. "Juna, you performed such a filthy favor for Gideon's closed room mysteries? Blöde Schlampe!" she curses, shaking her head.

After a hacking fit, she once again clears her throat of rot, "That said, now that we're finally past those kiddie closed rooms, we can finally crack into that good shit, huh? This is the catharsis I've been waiting for, if only Gideon's rag had given us enough!"

"I was ready for the killer to be insane, or plain evil. It's rather knocked the wind out of my sails to hear you had such an... understandable motive," Verrier admitted. "Though I fail to see how that extends to whoever else you've killed. Doubtless there is more to come in this story."

"Wait, what?" Fritz asked, "It was Juna? The maid? Hmph...Of course I wasn't likely to solve this. I forgot she was even here."

"Let's get to the point," he shouted, glaring at Juna. "Did you kill my son?!"

"...Give her some time to breathe, first," Angelo said, unsure as to how Juna was implicated. "She couldn't just *confess* to another murder. Wouldn't that go against the entire point of all this?"

Still, Angelo stood still and silent, still not completely sure what was happening.

Edna, who had mostly been standing to the side until now, turned to Juna, looking quite betrayed. "I never... T-this was my fault, wasn't it? I convinced you into thinking that this family was beyond redemption and without realising it, too... If I-i'd been more considerate t-then maybe you wouldn't have gone after I-Ingrid's..." She looked to the floor, quite ashamed. "So w-who else did you kill? Was it an innocent child? O-or your own boss?" She asked shakily.

"I think it may best if I just explain. Everybody please check your copy of Ghost Fables."

Spoiler: February 27, 1988
"It's ok, Juna!" Julia insisted. "Angelo has just been... let's say squatting. I don't think he has any other place to go. Just please, please, please keep this secret."

Juna bit her lip. She didn't want to agree, and the idea of a creepy man staying on the island bothered her. But she trusted Julia, and she kept some secrets for Juna so she had no real choice as a friend but to trust her.

"Alright, I won't say anything."

...

...

Juna knew she was close--this had to mean something. It didn't exist for no reason. If she could just-

CLICK

The air was taken out of her lungs. For a moment, she forgot if she even knew how to breathe. She lifted the item up, holding it to the light. Unmistakably, it was Gideon's ring.

[Scene Music]

Still forgetting to breathe, Juna had done something she hadn't done in a long, long time: she cried. And then not caring who heard, she screamed. A loud scream of exaltation, attaining a dream beyond even the wildest imagination of so many people. If this were the true ring, she could have anything. Not even the iron curtain could separate her from her family any longer. Forget having to work for the von Brandauers, they would have to work for her if anything. And the money would not be wasted on islands and dinners--some good would actually come of it.

Gideon's ghost appeared beside her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Congratulations. You are the new head of the family, Juna."

Would it be that simple? She hadn't solved anything--finding this was just a coincidence. And yet, she knew she were worthy. Far more worthy than anybody in the family--this would not just be a life-changing moment for her, but thousands of other people. Tears and snot streaming down her face, she inserted the ring on her finger. And then in an act of respect to the new head of the family, Gideon knelt by her feet.

"I believe this should clear some things up. I left the solution to the tomb ambiguous of course--it should be necessary to find meaning in this scene."

Harley couldn't believe his eyes when it was revealed that Juna found the headship ring. "Are you kidding me?! A maid found the headship ring? That's really stupid!" He lets out a sigh.

"Alright, regarding Gideon's tomb, I think it would be best if we go over what we knows about the tomb." The mechanic said before listing out what they know about Gideon's tomb.

- Gideon's tomb was designed by the man himself.
- Gideon's tomb was designed to be opened from the inside, therefore making it a locked room mystery.
- Gideon's body was the only body that was laid to rest inside the tomb.
- It cannot be opened from the outside because of the crossbar preventing the door from being opened.
- After Albrecht's death, Ingrid went to check the tomb and discovered that the tape that she placed there was broken, meaning that the tomb was opened.
- When the group of survivors broke into the tomb, they discovered that the Imposter's body was in the casket instead of Gideon's body.

"Hmmm... Now that I think about it, it reminds me of that old story that Gideon read to us... You know, the one with the fake death and the head's children being behind it all..." Interestingly enough, Harley can remember something from so long ago, back when he was a kid.

"And about the burnt body inside the boiler... Using process of elimination, there's two candidates that could possibly have been the burnt body.... Lynde... And Gideon's body. Only one of them could have been burnt inside the boiler, but which one..."

"... So you did it in the end. Even while I still fail to solve it." Ingrid sighed bitterly. "So what happened then? Why play maid for another day with the headship in your hands? Did you just want to kill that badly?"

"Y-you solved it too... How much do you really know?" Edna asked Juna. "You've been so far ahead of everyone else this whole time... I suppose that's the entire family done for, then", she sighed. "W-who knew this would become our downfall..."

Agnes silently stared at Juna behind her copy of Ghost Fables:tm:

It was very unclear what kind of stare it was, whether it was indifference or intense hatred, or anything in between.

"That's it then, is it not? It's not like I was supposed to inherit anything in the end anyways..." Agnes sighed.

As Raphael read the newest passage in Ghost Fables... he began to chuckle.

"All that drama and intrigue, just for a maid to stumble upon it by chance? I don't think I could have asked for a better illustration of how stupid Gideon's ridiculous obsession with locked rooms was. It's just a shame he didn't get to see the results himself," Raphael laughed.

"...The real Gideon, I mean," He added. "Not... this." Raphael gestured vaguely towards the Gideon in the room.

"Anyway," the mirth (if you could call it that) suddenly drained from Raphael's voice, "I don't think there's much to explain for Lynde's disappearance and it seems Erik's death has already been addressed, so I don't think there's much else for us to do but finally resolve my friend's death."

“Sure, sure. I’m looking forward to that duel—looks like Juna will be stuck in eternal suffering and too busy to be head, so I’ll give someone else a chance.” It seemed Gideon already had an idea of who this ‘someone’ would be but said nothing. “I need to think of an appropriate punishment for Juna here too. I think maybe being trapped in this world, unable to see her family again is a start.

“Anyway, let’s quickly resolve what happened in the basement. The identity of the corpse doesn’t matter as much as the closed room, but that one should be obvious now. The door can only be locked with the basement key and master key. If you don’t get this in a single try I’ll be embarrassed for you.”

Juna definitely looked somewhat upset and sad. Her hands tightened, but beyond that, she didn't do anything. Sighing in disappointment, she looked up to the rest, "I had to defend myself. If I had announced myself as the new head, most of you would've circled around me like vultures around a corpse, and I'd never have gotten to see the rest of my f-f..."

She cut herself off, quickly wiping a tear away from her eyes, "I guess that doesn't matter anymore, anyway. The reason I had to defend my headship is that I didn't kill Harley, Erik or Julia. That was someone else."

Lynde looked at Juna in awe. "You found it? You're the new head! Amazing Juna!" Lynde gasped in absolute glee.

"What good news! I'm so excited for you! And between you and me, I'm with you on the Stasi." Lynde said confidingly as he set his mostly empty Redbull down someplace it was sure to be inconvenient for someone else.

"I've been putting off thinking about it, as we needed to focus on solving these things, but the stakes for this 'trial' seem rather troubling..." Verrier commented, looking disturbed.

"Still, we must soldier on. The basement door can only be locked by the basement or master key. Juna, a maid, has a master key. By process of elimination, it appears she killed Raphael's friend for whatever reason, put him in Gideon's coffin and then burned Gideon's body in the boiler."

“Correct. It was June’s master key which locked the door.

He smiled, his largest one yet. “I want to thank all of you for participating so far. I think I may have actually felt alive again—but now we’ve reached the climax. I will now select one person to solve the tomb—eeny, meeny, min-Ingrid!” He shouted, pointing at her dramatically. “If you want your chance to solve my greatest mystery, I find this ending appropriate. If you succeed, this will all be over. But just know that if you fail, I won’t go easy on you because you’re my sister. You alone will face the punishment, if it’s any comfort.”
