To say Kyouya is gimmicky would be like saying the entire series it gimmicky - which it partially is - but we have to wait and see if he has any other traits aside from music-inspired banter.

They all have their gimmicks really, it's just less pronounced in the main characters to allow for character growth.Slightly off topic: While we're on the subject of prosecutor gimmicks, I can't shake the feeling that Payne's gimmick is quickly becoming his hair. Just look at him in GS3
and GS4

I agree. Godot's visor was a little silly at first, but it's the kind of thing you don't care about that much as the story goes on. You accept that yes, he's wearing a visor--it's the future, he can do what he wants.
But the whip will never make sense in a court of law, especially in the hands of a teenage lawyer. And she uses it so frequently it's gotten old by the first trial she appears in. At least, I was sick of it by then. Slapstick can be funny, but not when it's the same gag over and over.
Kyouya having fangirls, or a guitar, or any other manner of prop could be funny at first, but I hope they don't go that route, because eventually I want to have a tiiiiiiny bit of faith in PW's justice system. Just tiny, tiny bit, please.

I wholeheartedly believe that Kyouya, in the same manner of Edgeworth as well, will become a base character for the Odoroki arc. If we'll be seeing this guy for a long time running, a simple fangirl or guitar addition isn't going to keep him likable in the long run. He's just going to be a prosecutor with personality. I say let's leave the gimmicks for the next two.

Personally though, I think he really needs something to make him appear more imposing, as right now he really doesn't look like much of a threat in court. Edgeworth had an appearence that said, "Hello, I'm wealthier than you, better educated that you, and I'm going to crush your defense like an ant and laugh!"
Franziska and Godot have their no-nonsense attitudes, and Von Karma borrowed Dracula's wardrobe. With all of them, you got the sense that they would challenge you every step in the court. Kyouya looks like he just wandered in from a late night on the town and thought "Prosecuting criminals? Sounds like a larf!"
Of course, I'll probably be wrong, and he'll turn out to be a sinister conniving bastard beneath his rockabilly persona.
