Everyone knows that a game series can't last forever, right? Some can last for years and years while others are very delicate and/or aren't fit to last as long as others. I'm afraid the Ace Attorney series may just be one of the series that can't last very long. I fear that Ace Attorney games may turn into a Megaman styled thing. A new AA game every month? Capcom would start to get lazy with AA and bring back old characters instead of making new ones and using the same crimes over and over again. I mean, just how many kinds of murders are there (That can be put in a rated "teen" game) anyways? I'd prefer the series to just end instead of have it suffer with unoriginal content for years and years. Look, we already have the fifth game announced! AA's doom may not be far off already! I really hope this doesn't happen, I hope that the game continues until it can't anymore, but It's possible Capcom will just turn AA into another Megaman (Like I said before). Anyone else ever think about this? That AA will turn into a really crappy series with a game a month? Discuss!

Personally as much as I want AA/GS to stay it will probably end at GS6. With a super case 6-5. Even though people are saying that GS7 to come that'd be too much.

Capcom has rarely ever stopped producing a franchise that was profitable. Pretty much every decision at Capcom is singularly focused on making money with as little expense as humanly possible. It's a shame, but that's how it is. The only reason Capcom makes good games is because the game designers and artists and so on working at Capcom try really hard despite that stifling environment. But nevertheless pretty much every Capcom franchise that I once liked has been completely ruined by shitty remakes.

And then there's the whole Udon debacle but let's not get into that. My point is that the AA series is a moneymaker. They're not gonna get rid of it any time soon, I wager.

Hm. I've thought about it, but I don't think that CAPCOM will do that at all.

In my point of view, I think they're probably going to end the AA saga at Gyakuten Saiban 5. Make a sixth one if they must; to finish the Odoroki [I MEAN APOLLO JUSTICE] plotline and end the series [if GS 5 doesn't already do that]. But if there'd be a new game EVERY MONTH...they'd be crappy. Seriously. CAPCOM wouldn't take any time on the different cases, and the episodes would be like the first ones in every game - too short, you'd probably have less to no investigation time [thus less evidence and less of a plot] and character development for your clients wouldn't be an option. Either that, or simply 4 episodes per game. [Like Justice for All.]

Like you said, the series would PLUMMET if it had unoriginal content, and it'd get old if games came out so frequently.

But. CAPCOM takes so much time and work into the Phoenix Wright games, so I don't even think something like that would even cross their minds.

OR AT LEAST, I HOPE.

If they do expand the series farther than five or six games, I pray to GOD that they don't screw it up.

[Or at least not add a new defense attorney. I don't want the game going in a never-ending loop; one rookie lawyer after another. End it at Odo-kun in GS5 (or GS6, if it takes that long), and then maybe a few flashback cases with the original characters, forshadowing with the GS4 group, some plot development on what's going to happen to the characters once it's over, THEN END IT.] (Just for the record, the drabble after ending the Odoroki plotline was only if it takes until GS5 to finish it. If not, then, oh well. I don't think making a GS7 would be worth it, as much as I want Gyakuten Saiban to stick around FOREVER. :D But hey. The manga comes out next year, so that'll make me happy until *COUGH* Apollo Justice gets here. And personally, if Japan's CAPCOM team plans on making the rest of the games Japanese-only like it did with GS4, it'd take a HELL OF A LONG TIME for the rest of the games in the series to get to the US (Or any other country, for that matter. Especially Australia.) if it reaches over 5/6 games.

That's my take on it, at least. :D

If the AA/GS series is still quite profitable by the time GS5 comes out, it's probably GUARANTEED that more will come out after that. Hopefully, they won't kill Gyakuten Saiban immensely. D:

Personally, I hope Capcom is able to drag the Ace Attorney franchise out for as long as possible without rehashing anything. I mean, they were able to make four games, all of them with top-notch cases.

Also, the difference between Mega Man and Ace Attorney is the "clone" factor. A game such as Mega Man is fairly easy to clone and make a huge profit from while Ace Attorney requires more thought and creativity than a game of the platforming genre. After all, it's not easy to make text-interactive game and have a fun time playing it.

Besides, some qualities of a game can only be expected to be rehashed from the earlier installments. Look at the famous Mario franchise, for example. He's been in the platforming genre for 18 years yet people don't seem to get tired of his quirky yet lovable appeal.

Well, if you really think about it, the period of time between the point GS3 was shipped and the point GS4 was made was a couple of years or so. Due to its recent emergence in the North American and European market, it may seem that there is a new AA game manufactured every month. However, in reality, most of the games released are just the same game as the Japanese version translated to a different language. So the only thing Capcom is concerned about is the localization of the script, in which case, a couple of months of development seem apt.
