Well, I do like some JRPGs, but maybe not as much as I used to.
I like the Tales games because they're easy to pick up and play, and don't get boring easily. 'Least for me.
But the greatest JRPG series out there is Shadow Hearts, without a doubt. Excellent plot, great characters, awesome monster designs, it's set in a parallel version of Earth in the early 20th century, the battle system is really novel and fun, there are shitloads of sidequests, the production values are good, it has a great sense of humor, the music is awesome, and now, there probably will not be any more games made, since Nautilus, the developer, has been dissolved by its owner, Aruze, because fucktards like you, yes, YOU (aside from Kenjimurasame and Zuddha), didn't buy it, preferring to go out and buy Final Fantasy XII(which is fucking TERRIBLE, by the way) and other such crappy JRPGs that are a poor example of the genre.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.
I'm such a Tales of and Shadow Hearts junkie. Especially Shadow Hearts. Yuri is so much love, and the plot is always awesome within such a creepy atmosphere. The doll house will never, EVER stop creeping me out, and I love it oh so much. Shadow Hearts: Covenant went light on the atmosphere that was so well done in Koudelka and Shadow Hearts, but it made up for it with characters and humor. My heart still hurts for Kato. Shadow Hearts: From the New World... I'm disappointed with, but I have to admit that the battle system was the best out of all four games. The characters weren't
bad (Killer rocked so hard), but no one could take Yuri's place. And quite honestly, I think they went overboard with the gay merchant this time. It stopped being amusing and started being an annoying stereotype.
