Ok, I can understand the whole "We need forum Space so delete unnecessary Posts" I can also see the efforts of Zu and Headbuddy making a chat room for us to use. Though, for one I have to say this.

There are those who perfer to chat on a forum over the chatroom. I myself don't care either way, Forums have been my thing since god knows how long. I've used chatrooms too, and frankly, chatrooms flow too fast with randomness poping through it, that is why chatrooms have private chats, but then that flows into instant messengers witch kinda killed chat rooms.

Forums on one hand have a set topic to discuss, and since BBC coffee bar was just a glorified chat room, it appealed to everyone who wanted conversation.

Okay, enough of my speel and on to what I wanted to say.

I for one CANT use the chatroom that Zu and Headbuddy made. And also to that fact, I can't use IM neither.

before you go that I got a crappy PC I'll explain WHY. I'm on my Wii. Wii can't handle Java to run the IRC channel, and because of it, cant run IM applets. I have a PC true, but my time on it is less because of the factors of : 1)sister uses PC for school, 2) too cheap to get PC in room hooked up to wireless network.

But what ev. Its all good and all, I'll have to figure out how to forum chat another way since more than likely a BBC Coffee bar 3 will be locked.

I for one have to just say as a final word:
If a forum isn't prepared to handle a general ALL chat topic, like BBC Coffee Bar, then there should be a way to solve this problem to allow it up.

Come on EZ just drop it please.

Kenji said no more chat topics and he's an admin and what he said goes.

I have the same problem as you but I'll just find a way around it.

Sorry but I think thats how it is.

I understand that RV, I know ways around too. But this is something that should be addressed.

Most forums have a general ALL chat topic, and they have found ways to work around it. If bandwith cost is an issue to keep topics like that up, I will gladly donate to keep it up and running.

I can't believe Kenji closed it. But, Unless Croik bans him, takes down his Admininstrator rights, dies, or something else unlikely to happen, whatever Kenji says, goes.

Kenji can't die or be stripped of his position.

He's an excellent admin whos doing his duty and preventing spam from overthrowing the board.

Croik would never take down his rights.

I have to say this right now since people from BBC are posting here.

Don't just post: I HATE CHAT FORUMS ARE THE BEST.

post why you perfer to post in forum. Also IF you have and thoughts or comments how to improve a general ALL chat topic, or help figure a solution, post it. Don't just post here because I started this topic.

and no this isn't a kenji sucks a dick topic, I have no beef with him, the only thing I feel like "sucks a dick" is the lack of room for a general ALL chat topic like BBC:CB.

Of course, I know that. I'm just saying pretty much we are users and he is an administrator, if he chooses to close down a topic, he closes it down, end of story.

Yeah I know that but this topic keeps his name popping up like crazy. Anyways, so what if the BBC Coffee Bar is closed? Did you ever think of general roleplay?

Personally, I think this sucks. Especially as I spent a lot of my time there... But, it's not my forum, not my rules...

Heck, it'll be a bleedin miracle if I:
1. Find out how to get Java, whatever the hell that is.
2. Does it need to be downloaded? Because, if it does, never in a million years will it work on this piece of poop of a laptop.

problem w/ general roleplay is that there are too many god-modders there. I find RPing with people who can have an army of spies to get every detail, when obviously there is no info to find is annoying. :nick:

If there was just one big subforum called the 'Coffee Bar Sub-Forum' where It would just be one big Topic where everyone post.

That would still clog up the board.

The IRC chat is a better idea.

Anyway yeah just wanted to say that I understood why the bar was locked after it was locked so sorry for being kinda hypocritical.

I understand aswell, and yes a chatroom helps out, but if forum clogging is due to lack of storage space, how I stated before, I have no problem in donating to get more space and the ability to have a topic like BBC:CB running.

One last idea. Even though it wouldn't be all the time- we could do a daily show for Operator11 on BBC Coffee bar. http://operator11.com/

Operator11 pretty much is a way people can participate in shows live.

Well since it sort of a controversial topic, here are my opinions on the closing of BCC Coffee Bar.
Spoiler: Reasons why people can't use the chat room
1. Java-
And cant' download it because their computer sucks, they can't, no memory, etc.

2. It lags the computer-
To some it doesn't to mine it does. Even with all that add-on stuff. And lagging usually leads to freezing.

Spoiler: Reasons why people won't use the chat room.
1. They dislike chat rooms-
Like me. I'm not very fond of chat rooms since so many people type at once and it's a bit too fast on my eyes. And scrolling up and down, and seeing a ton of new text every time you scroll up and down is really annoying.

2. The inconvenience-
Simply opening up Court Records, then going back to the chat room and scrolling up to read what was already said to make sure you don't make yourself look like an idiot and type something over again, then getting to know the topic.

3. You can't post pictures in that chat room-
True, you can link them, but that particular chat room it is hard to copy and paste because it is difficult to highlight. Also, when I click the links, they never work. But that's just me.

4. It's fills with spam so easily-
For example:

Mr. McMan: hey Mr.Blue!
Mr.Blue: 'sup.
Mr. McMan: nm u?
Mr. Blue: My ass was on fire
Mr. Mr. McMan: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Mr. Blue: lol
Mr. McMan: lol

Chat rooms sometimes just become a giant list of "lol"s. And "haha"s. And "rofl"s, or "nvm".

5. You can't quote so nobody knows who you are talking to-
Typing @Mr.Blue or @Mr.Red sometimes gets annoying. You could say "What did you do that for!??" and you'll get a dozen replies going "What did I do?".

Spoiler: Reasons why the BCC Coffee Bar was closed
1. It was more or less like an AIM conversation-
Full of hellos, goodbyes, and the eventual "Good afternoon". True, there were lots of good conversations, but it was almost all just full of greetings and and hugs and love....(I miss that... but we'll live right?...Hopefully >.<)

2. Kenji thinks it is spam-
And he is an admin. He can do whatever he wants to do. Even if we all disagree on it, I guess it's case closed, no matter how many times we try to pick the lock.

And if bandwidth is the problem, you guys take Visa Gift Cards?

I don't think it's spam, and it's not a big deal, but you all seem to forget that we don't "own" the forums, in the sense that we are limited by what the forum itself can do. (Of course if you feel like donating tons of funds to us, there are ways to do that too.)

The problem with the BBC chat topics, unlike, say, a chat topic in here, is that the 'limitless' posting nature--basically that you get no post count--leads to messages of barely entire thoughts. While it is understood that not all members can use chatrooms, we've stated a few times that it needs to be 50/50. If you want chat topics, that's perfectly fine. But the BBC Coffee Bar ones are extremes. You went from 0 to almost 400 posts in as many days; that's basically 100 posts a day in a SINGLE topic populated by less than 20 people. Our forum has 2000+ users (give or take fake, banned, or spam names), and even they can't put out as many posts per capita as the BBC crew can. This isn't a compliment, and that's why we okay'd Zu and TH to help set up the IRC room. They know how to use it well, so they built the room and a very comprehensive guide to using it.

Are we anti-chat topic? No. We have a bunch. They're specialized, but they're chat topics. We ARE anti-BBC Coffee Bar topics because they are just too massive. If the post counts were actually counted in BBC, you all would probably have been reprimanded for abusing posting privileges in the hopes of upping post count.

While I understand you all have animosity towards me (since I'm the one who did it), I'm not being a tyrant here. For the good of the community, it's time to put the foot down. We're more than happy to accommodate our members, but we cannot bend or give a select few the right to command a good portion of the forum's direction, either.

Also, if your computer is too slow to DOWNLOAD java, you seriously need to get a computer that isn't 10 years old, and/or get off your less-than-56K connection.

and people, there's always IRC programs, Which are much better. Read the guide.

I just want to get it out there that while Kenji was the one to take action, several admins, moderators and members had been discussing putting an end to the Coffee Bar topics for a while. If Kenji didn't do it, chances are someone else would have done so eventually, largely for the reasons explained in his post.

You can argue all you want (or until we get sick of hearing it) but you'll probably just get a big "lol no" from the other admins. There are tons of ways to have lengthy conversations and make friends without clogging up the boards with thousands of one-line posts.

See guys kenji is no tyrant! I mean he is just helping this website from getting huge. I may have posted in BBC Coffee Bar too but I have to admit it was taking up space with posts. Like Kenji said 0 to almost 400 posts a day that really sucks up band width, just like Kenji said. I am not a suck up to Kenji I am just saying he is just trying to help this forum. I useded to hang out at BBC, but I knew that the forum was going to be closed sometime. Anyways the point being here is that Kenjimurasame is no tyrant, He is just doing his job as an Administrator or Adimn.

To counter that, I have to say the following statements:

1) Majority can't afford to buy a new PC. Some are under the working age and their parents are too strict that they are stuck with the crap PC. Another is the college student where they, like myself, have scrounged up just enough cash to buy a PC that can handle a decent Word program and are broke due to expensive school fees they need to pay. Also if not in school then working a job and having bills to pay and can't afford to flex cash to buy a new PC.

2) 56k is all they can get. Granted I have FioS witch is crazy fast >_> but most people can't afford DSL, HIGH SPEED, or even Cable Internet.

and to close this statement, through the words of mods to clear the fog from my vision and enjoy CR again, I get it. I'll just have to make educated topics to chat with and get feedback and opinions on issues being pressed.

Oh, and how I stated before, cuz I still sense that I'm pissed at Kenji hence why said topic was made, I'm not, people get the moderator/admin position for a reason, and that is because they know what is best for the community as a whole. And I would like to apologize for any hate I might have generated towards the mod team.

Though, I do have to say we BBCer's do take shit too far. I mean I think about 99.9% of the time we all posted crap to other places, and pushed our projects on people, I know im guilty of that

And also out of curiosity, but wasn't the coffee bar supposed to be like the OOC (out of character) of like general RPs to discuss about plot developments and planning for the General Roleplay forum :yuusaku:

If not, then can you allow such topic to exsist?

:megaphone: AND BY THAT I MEAN WHAT I SAID! :megaphone:

Sorry for the double post but my Wii can only allow so many characters per window

as I was saying, Making an OOC General RP gathering Topic to plan out RP plots and stuff would be nice. I just hate walking into an RP and not know what is going on. Of course the only thing discussed would be plot ideas and stuff, Kinda like the court case RPs, those are planned, have their own topics to keep things orderly ect. Keep spam and useless things out and such.

Hey Darzie, RevFirst, cut it out.

To be honest, I don't understand anyone having a problem with this decision. This entire forum is a place where you can talk to people. There are hundreds of threads covering hundreds of topics. You can still talk about almost ANYTHING you want to talk about. All we are asking is that you don't do it all in one place, and put in about 5 seconds of thought before you post.

The BBC was hundreds of pages longer than any other thread. Its mere presence clogged the server (we almost weren't able to delete it, it was that big). It has been reported more than any other thread, for childishness, bickering, personal fights, and spam. The only reason it was allowed to exist in the first place is because we didn't think it was doing any harm. But then it started to, and that's why it's gone.

If you don't want to use the chatroom, you don't have to. It's just there to provide you with the instant gratification of chatting, if that's what you need.

Ergheiz, I do not have a problem with "planning" topics in the Roleplay section. However, to avoid the same problem the BBC had, I would suggest having different threads to plan for different RPs. And it had better be used for planning and not just "chatting" again, because if I see that, those threads will get locked, too. If you want to talk more about that, you can PM me.

We're encouraging you all to be better people by having meaningful and thought-out exchanges with other people. Is that really so bad?? ;_;

Kenji and Pazu have already said everything else that needs to be said on the issue, so I think it's time for this thread to be closed.
