So, I've been writing a ton of poetry lately. My English teacher gave us an assignment to write about isolation and vulnerability, so here's some stuff I came up with.

Note: these are thinly disguised character analysis so there are spoilers. They're not blatant but unless you know the characters well I suggest you be careful.

Warning: A lot of EMONESS lies ahead. Beware of the angst.

Spoiler: TAT. 'Tis about Godot.
In the acrid abyss suspended
Unaware, yet longing
to graze her skin, so healing
But the hand that pulled him up
Did not bring her gentle warmth
The eyes he looked into
Shattered his every hope
A delicate chandelier snapping under the weight of his every regret
Every broken promise
Every careless step over the chasm
Struck down by his mistakes
He refuses to accept
He refuses to carry those shards of glass
That cut into his body and soul
but the reminder comes with every drink
From his cup of dark coffee
Black
Hot
Bitter
His own personal Hell

A dark devotion dances to the rhythm of a mourning heartbeat
Mocking the lost soul of the fallen
She mourns her toppled castle
As the sandstorm's slashing winds shred her last defense
Exposing her fragile heart
In an unmerciful attack
There is no trust to protect her
And no one will hear her cries
So in the bitter night she lies
A shattered life leaks to the rhythm of a dying heartbeat

What is it that I'm waiting for?
Do I still honestly think
Another turn will set me right?
Or that there will be someone there
To hold me through the night?
I've already lost too mcuh
But life is greedy
And just keeps taking more
I've already been too abused
But life is sadistic
And kicks me to the floor
What I need is a miracle
But a miracle
Is something that doesn't exist
Then
What is it that I'm waiting for?

I, too, write GyakuSai poetry, so you are not alone! As for your work... I absolutely adore it. I can really feel the hopelessness and the loss portrayed in your verse. Emo or not, this is good poetry!

(I especially like Adrian's and Godot's, but of course Phoenix's is amazing as well.)

Phoenix's was my favorite. I write PW poetry as well, so don't feel alone! And I didn't think they were angsty at all.
