I made this wallpaper for animepaper.net
http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/wallp ... /item67873

Unfortunately, they rejected it because they didn't like the way the Godot vector looked. Still, I figured you guys would appreciate it.
I posted it here though, in the hope that someone here would know of where I can find a scan of Godot that large. Any help would be appreciated :keiko:

I guess its their newer layout and the dial-up here, but your wallpaper won't load for me =X I'll try again soon

yaaay

The AP folks are thorough as hell, and are really nit-picky on what goes in the gallery. From THEIR standpoint (not mine), this is whats wrong with it:

The vector is of great quality, but on the edges... the extraction is poor. When creating a vector never save it with a background, save the background transparent. If you downloaded this vector off of somewhere and it had a background and then you took it off, its bound to leave those rough edges. The AP crew is very picky on this, the edges of the vector need to be smooth and not jagged. Without even zooming in I can see tons of spots where the extraction left jagged edges (especially around the hair) Make sure after extracting images you go back around with the Magnetic Lasso tool and tidy up the edges. Its a really tedious job, and sometimes takes forever, but it gives you the best polished result.

^I really had to go around with the magnetic lasso and clean up around the Nick, Mia, and Edgey renders, since the extraction left tons of artifacts around the edges.

They also will not accept wallpapers that don't fit their taste =P Unforunately, thats how it goes. They've got that power.

From a style standpoint, heres some crits on that:

The random vector brushes in the background really distract from Godot and the text.

Vector style wallpapers really benefit from having a set flow. By having a distinct flow it makes everything literally "flow" together and gives the wallpaper a distinct style and makes it all click and look visually interesting.

In this case you have those 2 diagonal lines, those look great with the vector, and that would make an excellent direction for your flow.

Depth is also an issue here. Your vector is shaded which defines Godot, however the background is just flat. Darkening the farther away spots and lighting the more closer, overlapping, lighting, and experimenting with color theory help to create a visually interesting as well as more realistic background (even in a vector style). It gives the image the extra umph factor that make its pop out at the viewer even more.

In this wallpaper, you really want the focal to be Godot. How you have it now, he still is the major point of interest, but the background is so chaotic and full of random objects and directions its easy to get distracted. Also when you start adding your desktop icons.. XDD

Also, do you have the vector of Godot by itself still? I'd love to make sigs with that, if I may *__*

Thanks for the great feedback; I'll try to redo it a bit.
As for the godot vector, I've got it. I don't know any sites that host eps files though.

Illustrator has a plugin that converts images to vectors, but vector magic does basically the same thing for free.

. . .Jesus I feel so slow, I've been been doing graphic art for a while and I've never really knew about Vectors. . . . . .; ; Thanks Internet!!!!

Seriously I love the pic, wish I could Photoshop that well. I don't think the Orange background compliments Godot, but the bottom fire looks awesome. Maybe if you had it on the top of the page too it would look a little, active. That's not the right word but yeah.

Do you have anything else??

Illustrator looks evil at first, and unlike Photoshop its not something you really can figure out on your own unless you're a frickin Edgeworth-Level genius xD

I'm taking a design class in school thats teaching it, and without that I never would know where to start with that program. Its not that hard once you learn how to use it though.

*checks Jareth's gallery*

.eps file? Never heard of it, unless its a file that Illustrator opens or something =X

No arguments there. I still haven't figured it out...
As for .eps files, they're opened with both illustrator and Photoshop. In Photoshop, when you open it, it asks you to specify how big you want the image to be. It then renders the vector at whatever size you specified with no loss in quality. It's basically like an svg file in GIMPshop.

Ahhhhhhhhhh ok xD

To upload those kinds of files, you could always throw it in a zip and upload it to megaupload, rapidshare, etc.
