Nice job, but I only have one problem: They're saved as jpegs. One of the first things I learn in spriting was that jpegs are not good for sprite art.

Other than that it's nice to see someone else working on coloring the grayscale images. I really should get back to work on that myself... :oops:

Oh! Well, there's a difference between very simply colored sprite art (such as the sprites used in-game), and what I do. I use hundreds of shades, so it's more of an image than a sprite in the end. On the colored Bridge image alone, that saves me about 50% the filesize while keeping a very high quality on them. Or did you see fuzzy pixels anywhere? :D It's probably not necessary to keep the filesize low though, since even 150 kb load rather fast, I guess. Many thanks though for taking the time to post, and it's great to see new faces in the thread.

I get what you mean by using the large amounts of shades to color it. When I color a sprite, I use the colors from reference pictures, because I want the images to fit in with the rest of the sprites from the game, knowing that any colors used with the sprites are compatible with the color ability of the system. I guess everyone has their own way of doing things. There's a link to my sprite thread in my signature if you want to check out a couple of my coloring works.

Yep, of course- the black and white "sprites" that I colour aren't really sprites in themselves, though, they're mostly non-animated images shown in the game - it's just like re-coloring a background from the game. And while with in-game characters sprites for example you can perfectly replace one colour with another, that doesn't work with b/w images from PW because the same grey can stand for several colours, etc. ... and there is barely reference available. It's two different things in the end. :) A lot of them account for in-game 'photos', anyway.

I like the new Darke image, very dark and scary eyes, and a LOT different from The Doctor's. Plus, the fire looks more fiery :)

Yeah I know why it is like that as well. It's just that the post title is longer than the limit, and it'd look better when viewing the sprite forum. The characters are fine but the background is incorrect. You forgot about the red motorcycle in the back, and some green in the landscape and gray road is always good. :godot:

Plus, in the BW version she's smiling with her teeth, how did you close it? :O

I didn't forget about the background, it was just so blurry I stuck with a red blob. It's one of the pictures - like MvK's shoulder shot - that aren't really meant to be coloured. They look better in b/w.

That's as far as I'm into. But I'm going to sharpen the background, colour the red/(pick a color, green?) motorcycle and flag, create some road&grass landscape and get your wonderful sky back.

You can have a non-animated front sprite from Ethed's coloring. Just transform the face a bit with Photoshop (download the trial or something, if you haven't bought it yet, it's very expensive but worth it (I've paid for it from web designs I made with it))
