"You really think the 4 of us can take on all of them though? I know I sound pessimistic but maybe its because I dont want anything to happen to you guys. Thats why I became a knight of Arsenia. I wanted to protect those close to me and my country. Even if I am scared to death to fight, I will fight because it is my sworn duty to the throne." Thomas sighed.

Thomas knew in his heart what he was doing the minute he signed up to be a knight. He knew the hardships ahead but he wasnt thinking of hardships coming so soon. He sighed again and waited for everything to take root. Maybe then he would find answers to this conflict.

Six hours had passed; Xero stood and walked out to the fort. He knew what he was getting himself into; he was ready to fight. But what he wasn't ready for was seeing a mass of monsters right outside the castle, with a few Larcenian Guards in the back.

"Hey! Verdia Castle! We're comin' to take you down!" jeered one of the Guards. The monsters all rose their hands. "It's time for a REAL war!"

"Thomas, get to the Princess, and make sure she's safe. If she wants to fight, let her. But let her know they're here." Xero rose his sword at the monsters. "Bring it on!!"

Jenna opened a small door on the side of the castle, and slid out. She leaned against the wall looking for any soldiers. "They're not paying me enough for this. C'mon, Quin, let's get out of here."

Quin grumbled as he slipped beside his companion, looking thoroughly irate, his long pitch black hair pulled loosely away from his face. "You know, Jenna," he whispered in annoyance, "maybe we wouldn't have to worry about how much we get paid if you'd let me steal things from time to time. Xero finished slashing an enemy, and turned to Jenna. "Yeah, I think we could use more help here." He quickly ducked as an arrow soared past his head. "I'm surprised you came to help us, actually." He slid to the side as an arrow landed where he was. "Are you just being nice?" He sidestepped another arrow; he finally heard a voice behind him screaming "GOD DAMMIT STOP DODGING MY ARROWS!!" Of course, this was one of the Larcenia Guards; Xero just chuckled.

You know, you run from the kingdom, bring two friends, slice down monsters, and reach a kingdom in dire need of help. You forget to bring money." He sliced down another enemy. "...It happens."

Jenna shrugged before killing two more enemies, "It happens, kid, Mercs don't make as much as we used to, so anything better that what we were getting paid sounds good at this point. But work first and then we'll hammer out the details no? Let's take care of these poor excuses for soldiers, greenhorn!" With that, Jenna barreled into the center of the enemy forces string swift efficient blows that left many wounded and dying in their wake.

"Heh... you got it!" Xero wondered how long Thomas would take with getting Chelsea out there, but he decided to make the most of his time and take out as many of the monsters as he could. But he eventually clashed blades with one of the bosses.

"Ha... ha ha... hahahahaha!" The man laughed. "I'm surprised to see such strength in a small Myrmidon! But opposing Larcenia will be your undoing... and such a shame, you seem to have so much potential!"

Xero smirked, and seemed to disappear. "W-What!? He's... already gained the speed of an adept Myrmidon!?" said the figure.

Xero quickly reappeared behind the man, and stabbed him in the back with his sword, then thrust back and re-sheathed his sword. He didn't say anything, watching the man keel over and clutch as his chest.

"W-Why...?! How could you have the speed of a true Myrmidon so early!?" said the figure, and he died.

There were two more Larcenian Guards to take care of.

Jenna walked up behind the remaining two guard, grinning wolfishly, "Now would be a good time to leave...if you value your lives that is." Two guards turned and ran off. Laughing ,Jenna wiped the blood off of her blade and walked over to Xero, "So, what now, Greenhorn?"

Quin was quiet joyously destroying the attacking enemies by then. It was only when his furious magical attacks had created for himself a wide cleared area, bodies and ground charred black, did he finally make his way over to Jenna, waving over at her as he tucked his spell book into his traveler's satchel. "Oi, is this the greenhorn you were talking about, Jenna?" Quin asked, looking Xero up and down, huffing slightly as he tossed some of his hair back. He was shorted than most men and by far less physically intimidating, but Quin had the cunning of a fox and that gave him all the confidence in the world. "With fighters like him, no wonder this place is in trouble. How much are we working for? "

Xero shook his head. "Weak? Me? I'm afraid strength may not be my best feature, but I doubt you'll find a faster Myrmidon than me!" He showed his speed by visually disappearing and reappearing behind Quin, whispering, "How's this for speed?" He then quickly dashed back over, visually reappearing back near Jenna. He then twitched his head. "I think I'm more than a match for these Larcenian cretins. I took out the only guard that would stay to fight."

(BY visually I mean you couldn't really tell where he was moving.)

Quin just snorted, shrugging, seemingly unimpressed. He waved his hands mockingly. "Oh, look! I'm a Myrmidon! I can run really really fast! Yes, faster for you to run away, Greenhorn. There's a certain art to battle. It is like a fine wine. It is meant to be savored. You however, drink the fruits of war down like a parked drunkard," he muttered under his breath, pushing past Xero, beginning another incantation, bursts of flame surrounding a cluster of enemy bodies, incinerating them to a crisp.

Xero ignored the two bickering, and looked towards the castle; he thought he saw Chelsea coming out of it.

Chelsea was in the throne room, she hadn't been able to get out of the castle, for three Larcenia soldiers had found their way in. Sakura was standing in front of Chelsea, arms raised.
"Larcenia soldiers...." Chelsea whispered.
"Give it up princess! The Lord of Larcenia would love to lock you up and command your kingdom."
Chelsea shook her head and raised her arm, a ball of fire merged and struck one soldier, he was burned and fell to the ground, dead.
One of the other soldiers charged at Sakura, sword raised. Chelsea stepped in front of Sakura.
It happened then.
The sword pierced through to Chelsea's arm, she let a cry of pain and fell to the ground. Sakura knelt beside her.
"Grandmother..." Chelsea whispered.
"Chelsea!" Sakura stared up at the soldiers.
"You...monsters!!"
The pair started to laugh and the one that had stabbed Chelsea put his sword to Sakura's chin, barely away from it, blood seeping onto the ground. The other one lifted up Chelsea.
"We'll take her to the Fortress for now." The soldier spoke as they walked across the throne room. Sakura had collapsed from shock.

"I'm getting worried," said Xero outside. "I'm going to check on them!" He ran inside, and upon seeing them, yelled, "Princess!" He quickl unsheathed his sword and, with a sudden burst of anger, disappeared from sight and sliced the two soldiers in the back, causing them to fall over. Xero reappeared, sheathing his sword quickly, and he walked over to Chelsea. "Are you alright?"

The wound was soon healed thanks to the medic. After a few minutes, Chelsea stood up, Sakura running down the steps.
"Are you alright, princess?"
Chelsea nodded.
"I...I think I'm going to lie down in my room..." She walked off with Sakura at her back, a few soldiers now running back into the castle.
