I think the unofficial consensus is that he's 'dead', so... er... no? You could probably start working on V. 2.2 though...

Not unless someone can get the program files from MechaBowser. If nobody can, they'd have to start making their own Case Maker from scratch.

I don't want to see how he made the global variable listing in the case maker. It's bad enough he has functions for placement/edit lines that would technically be a burden on the maker itself. Also, I have no idea how he made it quicksave the source data without a save button or some other validation. That's just creepy.

You make it sound like you'd rather create your own program from scratch.

If you do, do you plan for it to be as user-friendly (or perhaps moreso) than this one?

While this is usually the case with me, I would much rather prefer to take a look at his code first before diving into unknown territory. He has variables all over the place. He has "point to this file" code in half the maker. It auto-saves as soon as you make the slightest change. All the guts are a distraction. No. That's like giving away your pride for someone else to finish, then making them finish it to get all the credit. I'm proud of what I've made so far for the case maker, it's stable and works as it should. Also it's the most sucessful case maker out there, mainly because Phoenix Wright has such a small audience. There's a numerous reasons why I stopped working on it (mainly because I was going away because I have life), but one of them was because the code was getting really frustrating, especially the courtroom part - let's say that the engine wasn't really build for that kind of action, so it'd be easier to work it from scratch. I could probably do that and get a better and faster result, but unfortunately I got bored of Phoenix Wright and therefore I didn't take it up after my little visité. While I'm at it, I might as well solve a few questions.

WHAT IS RAGE.EXE?
Rage.exe is the standard exe encoding file your .exe is build from. Let's say it's like a house, and then you put your stuff into it and it becomes YOUR house. Basically Rage.exe is setting the standards. Why it's named Rage.exe is because when I beta-tested it, it liked to crash my pc.

WHAT DOES AGE, GENDER AND DESCRIPTION?
Saying that gender, age and description does nothing is technically wrong. Saying they're useless is true, though. These infos are saved in the memory and was going to be used for person evidence.

THE BLACK SCREEN THAT APPEARS WHEN YOU BUILD, WHAT IS IT?
It's the program putting all your material into it's new house, I mean Rage.exe.

SOME OLD (2.0) EXAMPLES DOESN'T WORK WITH 2.1, WRY IS THAT?
I almost entirely redid the system, so really old files had a hard time making the cut.

AFTER THE BLACK SCREEN, THE GAME FREEZES FOR SOME SECONDS, WHY IS THAT?
The game is gathering all the resources, depending on the resource file size and the case size, it'll take some time. Let it be and make sure it's in focus. It'll be done eventually.

So yeah, some of you may say that this is the fall of the Mecha grand times. Well, even though many of you have investigated really awfully hard, and ended with the conclucion that I'm dead, are wrong. I'm still active making more exciting games with the new experience I get. You are free to contact me, but if it's a guide on how to use the Case Maker, I probably won't answer.

Have you ever completed a team project? It would appear that you're scared to go about one. I'm familiar with all sorts of mishaps on a joint project including data collision when two or more people are working on the same data, bad data strings, file version discrepancies and the classic delete/obliterate problem. These issues have been smashed by my amazing work ethic. The last project I took care of was the last of a long string of huge games and I was finally offered some help for the last one. Unfortunately it was the cause of too many headaches due to running out of global variables and then getting in the way of local ones. This was back in the day when I had MMFX(READ: not MMF!) and thus the last one remains incomplete. Someday you will realize that a team effort is a good thing. For now, just focus on what you want and come back to this when you feel like it. You deserve total focus when working on a game. That's a rule to live by. :godot:

I honestly wanted to ask you about this. How many variables did you use for the initial courtroom phase? How many do you believe it would take for the investigation phase? As much as it pains me to say this, it's over guys. Mechabowser has ran off with the source code and has no intent on allowing anyone to continue his work. I can't actually believe the selfishness of one man, he claims it doesn't matter cause the audience is too small but there are so many of us, we all have a passion for this game and with the proper tools i guarantee we could make cases that would rival capcom's. When I first heard about this I thought it was amazing, I could flip on my computer and play cases designed by other people, and even create my own, but it doesnt work right. Please don't say it works as it should when you can't even do the most important thing, PRESENT EVIDENCE, the commercials, the game, everything revolves around the big objection moment. Without that the cases will be nothing, and of course someone COULD fix it, but we have some selfish programmer who won't release the source. There is no logical reason for these actions, the only event brought about is the pain of some 3000 people, all of which don't exist in his eyes. I've seen the length's people are going in order to create a presenting evidence system, linking different case files is a good idea, but impractical and unusable. He is done, he won't help us, he says he has grown tired of the game, but he's really grown tired of us.
This is no time to stop and be satisfied, within this community we have masters of every trade, I think its time we band together and start a new case maker, one that is open sourced from the start! We, as a community, can do this, and we can do it much better than this guy.

Yeah, because when I do that, it deletes everything I had after it. It sucks, because then I have to go back and redo everything I had.

Are you using 2.1 or the unimported original?

I've been using 2.1 ever since this thread made 3rd page and I'm using it on a decent computer.

I don't have that instant-delete-all problem like you do. You could always go straight to the source files and edit the text if it's that bad.

The one issue I have with this case maker is that issue you seem to be having. It seems to grab a lot of complaints and thus the save function needs to be segregated using a button press.

No choices. Yeah, it sucks doesn't it?

The impatient of us with too much spare time on our hands can ROM hack GS3 with Comeback Courtroom though. I know a lot about CC (even some of the "mystery commands"!), so if you want, you can IM if you want some help on this! I have a text file on my comp with a bunch of stuff about character animation IDs and stuff.

I need help with investigations. I can get it to say "Start investigation', but after that... nothing. I can't even get the talk topics to come up, which is what I really want to do >.< Anyone have any suggestions?

yes. Ofcourse I lost my internet for hacking. OBVIOUSLY. I mean, it's soooo OBVIOUS that's what happened, exactly, yeeees, the above posts are all mockups for the true reason, THE TRUE OMFG CONSIPRACIED REASON, I hacked and the state forced me to give up my internet connection.

It would help if you didn't have such a weird post as "I'm leaving in 5 days so I can't finish the case maker". You could have just said you lost interest!! Unless, of course, you didn't want to "crush our dreams" or something, although judging from your demeanor, I'm not sure if it's possible you could actually be nice enough to think that.... Man, the way you treat people in your posts sometimes.... man, you're cold, man. Cold.

Or, of course, someone else could have logged on to your account to make people think you were a hyperactive, narcissistic, easily offended freak who had to leave for 5 days for some "personal reason". I sure hope that was it. I'd like to give you a chance. :yuusaku:
