When I got Paper Mario on the VC I was expecting a Mario game with a less than few RPG elements. I was not expecting an RPG.

Mr. WTM(darn) I appreciate what your doing, but you see the results.
As for the Blue Dragon game, I heard that it was very bland, if I had a 360, I'd skip it.

Also, I agree, Jibo at least played part of the game, so he has a bit of an opinion. At least, on the DEMO. Not on the actual GAME. And we all know that some full games have turned out much, MUCH worse than their demos, so I would go against recommending a game to someone because of the DEMO.
I like Paper Mario because it's just different. I mean yeah it's the same old Mario bashing Goombas yada yada shit shit etc. etc... But fuck, it's MARIO. What else are you going to get!? Even in Galaxy you get the same enemies (But damn is that game awesome), but you get a different gameplay style. Paper Mario wasn't the best, sure, but it sure holds a place in a lot of Mario fans' hearts.
And lol. Super Mario RPG is one of the best games ever fucking made. It was too short, but it's one I've been playing again and again since it came out almost 12 years ago. Note that I said ONE of the best. It pales in comparison to another of my favorites, Chrono Trigger. However, Super Mario RPG was an 'easier' RPG, so to speak. If you had never played an RPG before, SMRPG was the best one to start with. If you were a huge Mario fan, SMRPG is the best one to go with. (Note that this was my first RPG as well, back when it came out in '96.) It's an awesome piece of work, and god damn if they had just made a sequel...
Also, Super Paper Mario, while not as good as the other two PM games, still is pretty damn good. At least it holds true to the old Mario physics. That's all I'll say.

It'd be an expansive, minimalistic( though nothing quite as severe as Shadow of the Colossus) arcade-adventure focused around Norse mythology.
And the art-style would look like this, though it would be more vibrant, obviously.
Essentially, it would be Norse Okami.

Stop whining and take it like a man. Yelling "Shut up" at everyone who disagrees with you won't get you anywhere. A LOT of full games have turned out to be utter and complete SHIT, compared to their demos. Past performance is no guarantee of future performance; Blue Dragon was rumored to be awesome (Hell, after reading about it I wanted it), but now it's almost shit. Sure, some might like it, but it's opinion. OPINION. My opinion is my opinion, yours is yours. But I'm afraid until you play the full game, you don't exactly have a good enough opinion to be taken seriously.
Face it: All you really get to tell with the Demo is maybe 10-15 minutes of gameplay. Not really enough story or enough 'upgrades' (More to do in the game) to tell how good it is. You can't tell if it'll get repetitive fast, whether the story will really rock or not, if it really has any redeeming qualities, or if they'll change anything before the game is released. A demo is a demo; they're releasing a working version of the first 10, 15 minutes, or the first level. It's not finished; they could change it and it could be different from the demo.

You think I shouldn't judge games by the demos? I'm pretty sure they, the creators, want you to judge the game by the demos and convince you to buy it. I was convinced, is all. I myself believe it is a good game, even with my minimalistic play time of the demo, is that not good enough for you?

Now, I believe we have gone off-topic far enough, so I will return to the main case in point.
Personally, Paper Mario and its sequel was a 'different' kind of RPG. That's what I liked about it. It was also supposed to be a 'storybook' kind of game, hence the graphics. It was actually amusing, seeing how you could move around and such. And, the references in all of the Mario RPG games (save for SMRPG itself... I don't recall any major refs there) make it all the better. They did 1337 in Partners in Time. They did weird speak in Superstar Saga (Gotta love Fawful, he's awesome). They did computer errors and made fun of Windows in Super Paper Mario, as well as did a stereotypical dating sim on it.
Not everyone's gonna love it, but I guarantee you that a lot do. It could be better, sure. But after so long, there's just not enough originality out there to go with. (I hear games like Mass Effect are pretty original though, in terms of RPG story.)
