You've probably seen the evil "waving barrel" illusion that came from this site. There are lots of other neat ones too, like this:

I love these things so much. They give me a headache after a while, but they're so fun. I love how easily tricked the eyes/brain are.

And people wonder why I've become so mentally insane. I love these illusions though, even if I gotta take an aspirin afterwards!!! XDDD

How do the spinning ones do it!? Is that just a peripheral vision thing?

It's an "Optical Illusion". They don't move at all your eyes just "think" they do. I used to have a bunch of books that were all full of optical illusions.

....I knew that. I was just wondering WHY they rotate only in your peripheral vision like they do.

Ah, I love optical illusions. <3

Here's one of my personal favourites.

This is a very bizarre dancer optical illusion. At first glance the spinning lady appears to be circling in a clockwise motion. But if you look at the spinning dancer long enough - the lady will appear to change direction and start spinning anti-clockwise.

I've also got another one, but I can't find any place to upload a 1.4MB .gif. >_>

This one scares me!! Stare at the dots in the middle for about 30 seconds then stare at a white wall (or something white!) Or the ceiling Do you see jesus?? AHHHH...at first it is hard to spot the dots they go in a line down the middle.

I like that one too. It took me a while to see it move to the other direction, but it was magical.

This one is a pretty good blog on optical illusions. I've spent hours on that site.

Actually, I couldn't get her to change either. >_>

That one you posted is good too, I have a similar thing, though it's of Cthulhu instead of Jesus.

I think I'm missing something with this spinning woman...
I don't see her spinning clockwise, I see her spinning anti-clockwise straight away o_o;

There are a few illusions I really like, but I can't find any decent pictures right now.

Edit: Actually, after looking at her really hard, I can see it now :P
..... I like it :D I keep making myself see her spin clockwise, anti-clockwise, clockwise... *fades*

This is your best attempt at a sig?
Uh, yeah... You don't like? I like. I think you're just green with envy.

Re: Optical IllusionsTopic%20Title

I wouldn't be all to concerned, I can't see it change either. >_>

V Some more stuff from the site I found the image on...

Quote:
For me the switch didn't just happen - I had to look at her shadow and picture it going counter-clockwise. After about a minute, my brain flipped and the lady just started spinning backwards. Actually - I can't seem to convince my brain to get her to start going clockwise again. But it is pretty wild when you see the switch happen.

This spinning illusion has also been referred to as a Right Brain vs. The Left Brain challenge.

It's a tough one and it takes a lot of focus.

I can make her change at will. I used to draw 3D squares and stare at them untill I could flip what side I was looking at.
