Guitar Hero battlers are easily agitated.

That's my rule. :godot:

.... and that's because I AM a battler. XD!

You better not be talking about Battle mode. As fun as it can be, it is one of the gayest modes to grace, or should I say disgrace, the competitive gaming scene. What's gay about it is that a person playing Easy has more chance of winning than, say, one of the world's best Guitar Hero players.

For one, Easy players can easily shake off power-ups like nothing, mainly because they are nothing. Whilst the Easy player breezes through the notes even withstanding a barrage of multiple powerups, the Expert player has to suffer lefty flips, double notes and whatnot.

Another reason is that unless the Easy player is a mega-noob, it's just so fracking hard to make them fail. Ironic really, since Easy players are fail yet you can't possibly make them fail on Battle mode.

Finally, Sudden Death. That's just about it: the two words that totally describe the final reason. Whilst making them fail had the tiniest chance of success, winning sudden death against an Easy player is impossible. It's not even a matter of hardness, it's just physically impossible. It's the way the fucking notecharts are made. The last note in the Death Drain combo on Easy is always before the last note on Expert, hence the Easy player getting and activating it first. Then, there's just no escape.

I've had to fucking suffer the consequences of playing my Easy-playing friends on Battle mode. I could never live that down for a month or so because of that asshole mode.

Let me tell you, people of Court Records. If you play Expert mode, are playing against someone who is two levels or lower and don't want to make yourself look a fucking fool, do not, and I repeat

DO NOT...

...

...

...

...play Battle mode.

Interesting.

:godot:

Question, if I may ask:

Do you have any... traditions you go through when playing GH? Nothing MAJOR, per se, but for example, whenever I start a song, I ALWAYS hold down all 5 buttons at once with my fingers, obviously using the thumb to hold the guitar up still.

battle mode is cool, as long as you play against someone of equal skill, and on the same level, otherwise (as TSS said) it's really unfair

Even then it can be unfair. For instance, the Lou battle on expert is damn near impossible to win unless he just so happens to get a powerup you can deal with (amp overload or something) and you just so happen to get a powerup that will kill him (whammy used on his hueg string of greens). If the he gets a Double Notes or anything like that, you're pretty much fucked.

Next song in GH IV:

That bass riff from Recipe for Turnabout... okay, make it a tutorial track. lol.

And personally? Whenever I face the "boss" in the game, I try to save up 3 Whammys, then just screw them over when their turns come...

Because lets face it: There's nothing better than having it LOOK like they are safe... then screwing them over AGAIN.

When a song starts, before the notes come down I often press a whole lot of buttons to make sure I remember where they are, and that I know where I stuck my hands.

I'm sorry but... "specific"?

Also, you say battle mode is horrible... well..... what about 1 on 1, same difficulty chosen for both sides? Or is that still terrible?

1-on-1 battles are fine.

There is one pre-game ritual I do. Every now and again I would practice tapping the intro to TTFaF. Haven't checked if my tapping has improved yet, but I can do it at pretty fast speeds so I guess it's an improvement.

By the way guys, I was so fucking close to getting one of the biggest accomplishments in Guitar Hero. I was about 4,500 points away from getting 5* on Raining Blood. I feel like throwing the Les Paul at the TV right now, seeing as I'm so pissed off.

OH!

Expert Mode 5-star! Okay, okay...

I was gonna say "HUH?" for a sec there.

Slayer was the ONLY Easy-Mode, Career Mode Unlockable song that took me more than 1 try to get 5 stars. It took... 3 or 4, I think.

it was practically the only easy song that was challenging. Even TTFAF was easy on easy ( no pun intended)

what was with that.. most of the song is pretty slow and controlled, except for the solo, where as raining blood was very fast and insane for almost the entire song. i personally think that raining blood may be the hardest song on that level (if you don't count TDWDTG)

my friend five star-ed almost every song on hard, except raining blood

A friend of my youngest of 3 sisters wanted to be better than her, so he told me to give him the hardest song in the game. I TOLD him it was "Raining Blood" and he tried it...

His first time playing a GH game... He was messing up the INTRO! It got to the point where I'd close my eyes and be able to tell EXACTLY what notes he was missing!

He also played like no one else I know: He never held down the buttons. Even in that multi-green part! He tapped the button and the flick. He ONLY held buttons down for riffs.

Then sis played Dragonforce, and he said "Screw that!". Last I saw? He and sis were trying to beat each others' high score on "School's Out" on Medium.

Each of the members of my family in my home who have GH have our own "weaknesses".

My younger sister (previously mentioned along with her friend) Holds down the flick for each note, riff or single-note. We keep saying "Just flick it once, then leave it!" but she doesn't listen.

My oldest sister is even worse. It's like she doesn't even hear the MUSIC when she plays. I can't even see the rhythm she has! Also, she says "WHY DO I SUCK AT THIS GAME!?!?!?" too much...

I have the worst problem: After a while of playing a song, I don't hear it anymore, and I actually start getting my attention diverted to the Tapping of the buttons and the clicking of the flick. Eventually, all I hear is "Tap-tap-tap-CLICK-CLICK-tap" over and over again... ADD isn't the best GH partner.

Are you talking about the strum bar? You're supposed to hold it down. Otherwise how are you going to up and down strum back and forth with ease?

Dammit, I knew it wasn't called "flick"!

But yes, the Strum Bar. She literally grabs onto it and holds it down to one side for one note, then moves it to the other side the next note, etc.

What I do is I simply flick it once, and press the button in accordance. After flicking it, I just let it go back to it's original position.

... I can't make a diagram of what I mean though, but perhaps someone else can describe it?

Basically, one more example, relating to how I rest my hand, and how my sis rests hers.

Me: 4 fingertips on the whammy bar, thumb on the strum bar.

Sis: Holds the strum with 4-5 of her fingers, which causes hand pains. I know... because she keeps yelling "My hand huuuurrrrts!!!".

seems like we do the same thing, but your sister has the right idea.
it actually makes things much easier when you strum up and down for harder level songs that have notes in quick succession.

it's always hard to make the jump from a "flick" to "up and down strumming". im still trying to make the change

I change strumming technique frequently. First it's regular downstrum, then I start flicking the strumbar, then I do a variation of alt-strum, then I just alt-strum and then I just alt-strum like crazy.

Here's a notable weakness of mine. On 3's & 7's on Expert, I can't hit that GRB to RBO chord change without looking at my fingers. And sometimes I look to soon, therefore screwing my chance of an FC.

Did I lose anyone with all that jargon?

*writes down that title for the TSS challenge*

j/k. I ain't shellin' out over 100 bucks for an online function I would STILL have to pay for.

ANYWAYS........

Aside from the term "FC", I actually understood what ye had said. I still think that my weakness is probably the worst of those listed... if I was easily annoyed, I'd probably get reeeeeally angry, really fast, with my current weakness... especially with the longer songs.

I have TTF&F on my MP3 player... it takes a timed walk to let it sink in: "This song is LOOOOOONG!!!".

Ok, I'll tell you what FC means. FC is when you combo the entire song from beginning to end, so no combo breaks EVER. So yeah, it's a 100%.

FC = Full Combo.
100% = 100% with combo broken at some point.

"Through the Fire and Flames" made me cry... a lot... then curl up into the fetal position and not move for a day

Anyway, my fingers aren't long enough and my hand too small to comfortably play guitar hero... but I'm almost through medium (yeah haha.. it's an accomplishment for me!) My fingers barely make it to the third key, haha.

Guess I have to train more.

I had a handful of good runs on GH3 yesterday, including that CoP run, getting an almost 5-star on the Tom Morello battle and a 4-star on the Slash battle. That night would have boosted me ahead of gamefan06 by a few places, yet alas: XBOX Live wasn't working at the time. So yeah, I was screwed.

Yeah, my CoP score is a bit lower than what I usually get, but keep in mind that I didn't use Star Power (it was part of an achievement worth 15 gamerpoints.)

Oh yeah, you don't get stars on the actual battle. But you can download the actual song as DLC so you can play it anywhere. The whole thing. It's harder than it may sound. Wii users have yet to get it and PS2 users are pretty much screwed on that matter.

But yeah, I'll beat The Devil Went Down To Georgia eventually. Those solos are hell. People are saying that it's difficulty is on par with Through The Fire And Flames.

Is it anything like it is in the battle with Lou, or is it completely different? BTW, I just beat GH3 on Expert! :b33r: My hands (especially my left) feel like they're about to fall off!

You can get a solo version as DLC, which apparently is finally coming to Wii sometime this year.

I think it's fun as long as your playing the same difficulty. It is pretty annoying when someone does Easy or Medium, I do agree with that. But at least it makes it harder that way. (I look at the positive side of things, lol)
