I don't know how many of you are familiar with Agatha Christie's book/play And Then There Were None (also known as Ten Little Indians) but apparantly there is a game coming out on the Wii based on it.

This is the only information I have on it right now (of course I haven't looked very hard). I really don't know what to think of it. It looks sort of like another detective type game, and it's supposed to make use of Wii controls. But this particular book seems to be a curious choice to make a game out of. In the book, there are 10 people stuck on an island and they begin to be killed off one by one, until the murderer reveals themself at the very end, having killed everyone else. In this game you play as an 11th character and presumably try to investigate a series of crimes you are powerless to stop? I dunno. :yuusaku: I guess I'll be getting this to see what it's all about. What does anyone else think?

This isn't actually the first Christie game, there were a few on the PC as well (the only one I can remember off the top of my head is Murder on the Orient Express.)

I played it on the PC. They tinkered with the story so that people who read the novel wouldn't be spoiled, but the mystery ended up losing a lot of coherence as a result. Most of the detective work is optional - and not very helpful in solving the game - and the writing is uneven. On the bright side, the period atmosphere is excellent, and some of the optional puzzles are kind of neat. But you spend most of your time wandering around looking for event triggers and solving puzzles that are only tangentially related to the mystery at hand. It's not as bad as rearranging soup cans in The 7th Guest, but it's pretty close at times.

I can't knock it entirely, because the plot is not bad. There's real tension there. But it's one of the weaker detective games I've bothered to play. It could be that they've corrected some of these issues, but I think that if you want a good detective game, you're going to have to stick with... um... there aren't that many, are there? The Colonel's Bequest followed the 'people get killed off one by one' plotline, and wasn't too frustrating, in spite of the constant random player character death, but I don't think you can get it legally anymore.
