Or is it? Mei Karuma is Franziska's Japanese name, and the only remotely related words beginning with MEI I can think of are Mei itself for neice, meirei for order/instruction, meishi for business card, meiwaku for bother/disturbance. I'm sure it must've been put there for a reason though...

Although I wonder why they didn't use the actual Meiji logo in that case - often in anime, for example, you see names of famous (Western?) products in their exact logo with the exception of one letter, e.g. "Fanasonic" (like in デスノート, I think). That's a really good idea though and I'd have never thought of it! Makes so much more sense than thinking they threw Franziska away. :)
