Quote:
Beatles tunes might make it to Guitar Hero
By Geoff Boucher, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
March 18, 2008

The latest sign of a video-game "Revolution"? You may soon be able to plug in and play guitar in "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."
Martin N. "Marty" Bandier, the top executive at the music publishing company that owns the John Lennon- Paul McCartney copyrights, said he liked the idea of a dedicated Beatles edition of Guitar Hero, Activision Inc.'s hugely popular video-game franchise.
Activision announced last month that Aerosmith would be the first act with a dedicated version of Guitar Hero.
"It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue," said Bandier, who last year took over as chairman and chief executive at Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

The company has loosened its approach to the Beatles' music. Producers of " American Idol," for instance, had for years sought permission for contestants to perform Beatles hits on the show but were turned down again and again.
That's changed: Tonight's episode is the second week of an "all-Beatles" format for the show, which Bandier calls "a wonderful way to get this legendary music in front of an audience of 30 million people in an exciting way."

Wouldn't it make more sense for this to be with Rock Band instead?

I also never understood why they were so uptight about their catalog being sampled or used and stuff...other artists aren't so strict.

Your Guitar Hero sucks, Neversoft, and you should stop potentially hindering Rock Band. Also, the Beatles don't fit in with Guitar Hero and it would be nothing more than a stale addition added on for more sales than they deserve.

Pheh, to me Neversofts GH is much better than the previous ones. It has songs that a lot of people actually KNOW XD But meh, that just shows how limited my collection of music is I guess. All I know is that I liked the songs on it, and so I liked the game. :3

Beatles on guitar hero though... I dunno about that. It's just there isn't exactly many frantic guitar solos from them.

It was the same way for me too Gerk. I actually knew the songs in GHIII. I had played GH once and didn't really know any of the songs. And GHIII was the first one for a system I actually owned! (I now have a PS2, I didn't then.)

I have been surprised with songs I didn't think would fit in a game and been surprised before (Ever here the original recordings of Jumpin Jack Flash?) so I'm holding out on judging it yet. You never know!

GHIII is fun to me because it's hard, skillful and the songs are good. I don't exactly need anything else to be honest. And besides, when you look at the Critics scores they seem to agree with me. *shrugs* Of course you're totally entitled to your opinion, but you're not exactly qualified to make judgements on my eyesight :P

Any rock song can fit in the Ouendan/Agents series. Even if they hadn't sped up and made a more pop-version of Jumpin' Jack Flash (which was to make it a really fantastic finale), it would've fit.

The big major difference here is that ... uh, there aren't any WRIST-CRINGING-BONE-BREAKING songs from the Beatles, which is what the whole GH crowd seems to go for nowadays (haven't you heard them bitch about Rock Band?).

It's not hard. It's not skillful. The songs range from really fun to play to blagh. The thing that made it so awful however, was how fucked up the general atmosphere was fucked up. And very likely fucked up by a cliche'd cartoon corporate suit who was trying to be be down wit da kids (and the atmosphere really made the first two Guitar Heroes). It was essentially like some guy taking over the Ouendan and Elite Beat Agent games, but suddenly making it more SERIOUS BUSINESS and sticking in celebrity J-Pop singers in the missions. Oh, and did I mention the boss battles? The worst addition to rhythm games? Ever? Whoever stuck those in was a jackass.

Without the setting, you essentially have a bare bones (if I can ignore it enough to be considered bare bones) rhythm game structure... oh wait, that basically means it's a Bemani game. And it's pretty easy for a Bemani game. Especially considering most of what I can remember regarding the game was POWER CHOOOOOOOORDS EVERYWHERE, with the exception of the last tier and a few random songs that were actually fun to play.

No. The Beatles doesn't deserve to be made shit by Guitar Hero.

Wow, that's freaking insane.
And anything is better than hearing David Arghidehsighieghyi butcher "We Can Work it Out."
I dunno, I'm a Rock Band person. Guitar Hero frustrated me when I played the demo in Gamestop >_<
Playing something like "A Day in the Life" on Rock Band would be insane, especially configuring that crazy interval between John and Paul's parts.

The Beatles would definitely be better in Rock Band. There's a bunch of instruments besides guitar that make the songs unique. And about the DS version of GH? In my opinion, it just doesn't seem very practical. Guitar Hero is about the experience of playing a guitar, which makes the guitar controller an important aspect of gameplay. If you just have a little attachment on the DS, it's just not going to be the same.
