I wonder, if this were to actually happen, if Gumshoe inherits Gant's orange suit or at least a suit that doesn't look AVERAGE...
Also, Edgeworth being Chief Prosecutor makes a bit of sense because he might have gotten promoted over the two months between GS3 and "Seven Years Ago".
NOTE: I officially dub the trial two months after GS3, "SYA". What it stands for is obvious (and no, it does NOT stand for "Skye Y Ayasato. Sorry, kid.)
Finally, I am hoping for Cody Hackins to come back in GS5, as I have stated countless times. However, Phoenix doesn't even recognize the kid until he remembers the case that Cody was involved in. Honestly, Franziska became a prosecutor at the age of 13. At the beginning of GS5, he would be 18+ years old, same age as Pearl and two years older than Trucy. I mean, it's so simple! it was stated that the GS5 prosecutor won't be a new character, but will be a big surprise to everyone.
now, if you think about it, any character who would be too old, dull witted, or already has a good job by the end of GS3/GS4 is eliminated as the possible NEW prosecutor.
That eliminates everyone except:
Pearl
Cody Hackins
Regina Berry
Anyone else under 18 by the end of GS3.
Now, I seriously doubt Pearl, since she's been secluded so long, it would be a miracle for her to quit channeling and study Law, and on the Prosecution's side no less? No way!
Regina is perfectly happy at the Berry Big Circus with everyone watching out for her. I doubt she would be a prosecutor since she knows more about taming animals than anything else... wait! Regina and a certain blue-haired prosecutor's habit of carrying a whip...? Maybeh...
Finally, Cody Hackins. First off, he looked up more to Edgeworth than Wright in 1-3, making him much more likely to pick Prosecution as a career path. Next, he probably picked some kind of "Awesome Persona" to go under, like the Law Samurai or something. Possibly being an actor and a prosecutor, much like Klavier and his band.
However, we CANNOT discount the final possibility. I overlooked this initially, but if you think about how much involvement he had with 4-1 and 4-4, you might understand: Mr. Spark Brushel could be the prosecutor. I mean, he could have posed as a reporter or he could be a freelance journalist/notary and a Prosecutor on the side. Not that difficult for someone of Brushel's caliber.

Well old age is very relative (like i'll say 35 wouldn't be too old) and it doesn't mean someone can't be a prosecutor. Dull witted-yes but there's only a few people in PW universe that really are dull witted. And about 'good job'..well if it's REALLY good job maybe yes, but on the 'average good' profession they may quit, or fired, or whatever right?
Let's see..now let's exclude the dead characters, the old prosecutors, the guilty and accomplice characters (but i'm not really sure..Iris as a prosecutor will be very shocking) and maybe the story-line character in AJ(Trucy, Apollo, Lamiroir blah blah)
And let's subtracts the too old character -Marvin, Judge, Judge's brother, Wendy, Victor, Bikini-
Now the dumb characters -Mike, Hotti, Moe,- and those who just can't be a prosecutor -Lotta, Max, Ben, Shelly, Ron, Violetta, Lisa, Larry, Maya, and Gumshoe-
And those who're too young (i have to disagree w/ you, Hakuro, cos Franziska have a strong base w/ a von Karma descendant and thus should be excluded) -Pearl, Cody, and Regina-
That leaves us Bellboy, Powers, Penny, Ema, Jake, Angel, Maggey, Adrian, and Dessie. For the good job perhaps we can exclude Dessie and Ema...
After i write this much i think the rest of characters aren't good candidates for prosecutor, though*sigh*
I don't cover AJ bcause i haven't finished it yet...and it's really only IMO so if i'm wrong don't blame me :3

I'd like to initiate a CodyxPearl pairing not unlike the Bleach Pairing of JintaxYuzu .

*ahem* now that that is out of the way, that is why Cody and Pearl are meant for eachother should they be brought together in GS5!
Next order of business: Payne.
As Mr. Payne is in every game anyway, it's only fair he be in this one, but with a twist! In 5-1, Apollo gets his client off the hook and convicting someone else. Near the end of the trial, Apollo pulls off a 3-1 on Winston (aka
that, but on his precious... whatever-the-hell-hairstyle-that-is...). Finally, the defendant in 5-2 is Winston Payne himself! And the prosecutor is... Cody Hackins!?Finally, Apollo is confronted somewhere in the game by a mysterious-looking woman in nun's garments looking for her precious "Feeny", and is being guided around town by an adult Pearl, who doesn't know the city as well as she thought...
I think those would make fine ideas!
EDIT: If cody were the GS5 prosecutor, it would start another pattern of child prodigies bringing non-lethal, but painful weapons into court. Franny with her whip and Cody with a kendo sword ("because the court doesn't allow REAL swords!" Cody might say.)

For AJ....I'd like to see Spark Bruschel and Vera again, just because it makes sense to me. Bruschel is cool, and Vera has some potential as a recurring character. I suppose Eldoon could show up again in a cameo or two.
I also think that they'd probably be best keeping Klavier as Prosecutor. The 'new prosecutor' habit needs some switching up, with a 'final boss' special prosecutor at the end.
Also, more Olga. I demand this.
As for old PW characters:
No Maya. She's had enough screen-time, and she's really not that interesting to me. They've pretty much mined the Kurain thing dry at this point; they alluded to her in GS4, but I think they should leave it at that.
That said, an older Pearl would be cool. She's bound to have developed (mentally, you perverts) in 8 years, and could be interesting. Especially if she takes offense to being called 'Pearls'...
Gumshoe. Possibly as a private investigator, or even as an evidence clerk or something. He was a fun character, and used sparingly, his long-suffering ways could be fun (particularly if Ema takes to berating him).
At least one mention or cameo of Edgeworth and Franzy. These two were integral to Phoenix's life, and some mention of them would not be out of the question. Edgeworth as Chief Prosecutor would make sense, too.

Second, I really liked Gumshoe, but Ema stays. She's my favorite character in the whole series. ApolloxEma or GavinxEma is a must.
Third: MAYA, PEARL, AND MIA. PLease, I liked Trucy and all, but ONE OF THESE (Obviously the for Mia to come back either Pearl or Maya would too.) HAS TO COME BACK. I wanna see Pearls all grown up.
It'd be nice for Lana to see her sister and Phoenix again, as well.
Thats all I have to say regarding the characters. Oh, and Lamrior, too, for obvious reasons.

I agree. There's a lot that could be done with a new cast and their backgrounds that wasn't done in 4. As much as I wouldn't mind seeing a character or two again, Apollo and his associates need some more depth.
That's probably better than restoring the entire original cast, too, since it'll be something new to add to the series.
That being said, a Franzy or Basil appearance wouldn't really hurt.
