I treat them rather different though, considering how the style of story changes from 'battle of the wits' between two people to a much broader conflict. Although, perhaps broader isn't the right word since...

Also, the anime's second opening theme is great. Madhouse's animation just gets better and better. Random information that I find interesting: L's Japanese voice actor, Kappei Yamaguchi, also does Usopp's voice in One Piece and Inuyasha in... um... Inuyasha.

Well, if you consider Light having to write a person's name down every time he wants to kill someone, then yea, its repetitive. But as far as storyline goes, I don't find it repetitive at all.
Amen to that. Though I did like a few of his quirks.(Like how he'd build stuff out of random things.) Not his personality mind you.

I personally like Near, though I can see why others don't so I don't have much to argue.
One thing, though: He did have motives, and he stated them very clearly.
Out of curiosity: Has anyone here read the DN novel? I thought it was made of win and awesome. B was a very interesting character and I was fangirling over Naomi like crazy the whole time. The ending also made me love LxNaomi like woah.

Great characters, great concept, interesting story, and immaculate execution.
And then it jumps 6 years into the future and I'm all like "cool, Light's chilling and everything's cool".
But then I started to get this strange feeling, like something was horribly wrong. All pleasure from watching the show slowly seeped away, and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth.
And then I realized it.
It's like the 2013 or something and nobody, I mean NOBODY in the whole fucking show has a fucking jetpack! What the fuck?!?
If there are no widely available jetpacks in the next five years I really have nothing left to live for.
Fuck you Light Yagami. Where's your fucking jetpack? FUCK YOU!
