Just of curiosity, from the translation of the original GS 1-3 games, who has kept their original Japanese names to the American Phoenix Wright games?

We all know that Godot gets to keep his name for the 3rd PW game. But was there anyone else that got to keep their same names for the english PW translations over the past 2 games?

The only one I know of is Maximillion Galactica. But only his stage name, not his "real" name.

Let's see:

- Ben (although phonetically Ven) and Trilo (Rilo in the Japanese version), Acro and Bat and Maximillion Galactica kept their stage names as they were quite English already.
- Gant's Japanese name is Ganto, so it must count Edgeworth
- Missile and Shoe (written Shuu in the Japanese version, Takumi Dr? Hotti ).
- Karuma is the romanization of Karma.
- Although Hotta bears it name from a clinic, Hotti must be inspired from it (Hotti comes from "hottie").

Those that "literally" kept the same name (stage name) after translation.

Maximillion Galactica
Acro
Bat
Missile
Godot

Though, I have a feeling Zenitora might stay the same.

Hmm..... That's weird.... For some odd/strange reason, I thought one of the other prosecutors (besides Godot) got to keep their names. Like Edgy, or one of the Von Karma's Von Karma Franziska, at least. Detective Gumshoe

If they didn't, then guuess I was wrong. Eh?

No, Edgey doesn't have the same name in Japan.

NA: Miles Edgeworth
JP: Mitsurigi Reiji

Nope, Edgeworth is Mitsurgi Reiji and Karma and Friska are Gou and Mei Karuma respecitvely.

I have a feeling Bikini's name is going to be kept the same. I mean it's punnery enough. That beast in a Bikini? BAD MENTAL IMAGES!

I hate how some people choose to name Phoenix Wright characters by their Japanese names. But hey, that's just me. Phoenix I prefer the Western names.

I could've sworn...
"His real name is meant to make him sound like a backwoods country bumpkin in both English and Japanese."
That line confused me. It's Croik's fault!

If thats the case, then I guess Maya's counts. Her japanese name is Mayoi and it seems pretty close to her western name.

Not really. Gant's translation into Japanese would have to be "Ganto" because the Japanese have no singular "T" sound and thus any english word with a "T" in it has a "O" stuck on the end.

Maya's translation into Japanese would turn out "Maiya"

I was just suggesting it because it seems that the western names were heavily influenced from their japanese counterparts.

Both his english real name (Billy Bob Johns) and his Japanese real name (Kouhei Yamada) are stereotypically 'bumpkin' names in their respective languages.
