The other arguement they like to use is "Phoenix is gay, he's got the hots for Edgeworth" Mind the, the PxE pairing I can indeed imagine, but the evidence for it is more scarce than for the PxM pairing, from what I can tell anyway.
I can't see that the Phoenix-Edgeworth possible relationship voids the Phoenix-Maya ship, as neither are explicitly canon so they can't really exclude each other. [And I doubt that they will ever make NaruMitsu genuinely canon.] I do like the Phoenix-Edgeworth pairing myself, and there is a lot of canon evidence to support it, but I somehow came to like the Phoenix-Maya ship even more by the end of Game 3. Anyway, the two relationships are mutually exclusive in my head, in their own separate contexts. If that makes any sense. And I'd say Phoenix would be bisexual rather than gay, since he has obvious attraction to various females throughout the games.
Are there going to be witnesses with testimony at the trial? like.. Pearl? :)
Great find on the dialogue, Funny_chan. I started replaying 2-2 [great case!]. There's starting to be some hints of.. well, Phoenix starting to form a strong emotional attachment to Maya, anyway. Normally, when he works on a case and visits the detention centre etc. even if it's a friend like Edgeworth, he's quite composed and controlled. However, any thought of not being able to save Maya from the murder charges, well, he's getting quite discomposed like I don't think he gets with visiting any other client.

Me either, it's just one of those things I see people use. I personally have a hard time as seeing Phoenix into guys, not because I have issues with that, but more or less because he doesn't really indicate much interest in any guys besides Edgeworth, and the Edgeworth thing can pretty much be explained by the impact that Edgeworth had on him when they were young. Now, might this make him gay for Edgeworth? Maybe, but then again, Phoenix is a bit hard to read sometimes, overall, he does seem extremely deticated to his friends, and even clients, so it really seems to me that he's just a person with very strong emotions. If I were to say he's bi (Because I can see the PxE thing if just the right set of events came up) I'd still have to say he leans more towards the hetero side of it, for the aformentioned reactions to women in the game, as well as the lack of reactions to other males (Besides the fear of Mr. armstrong.)
Not saying it's a bad pairing, I just think there is more evidence to support Phoenix Maya

I don't know a whole lot of Japanese (I've only taken three semesters of beginning Japanese in college, and one of those was me retaking beginner's 1 because beginner 2 wasn't offered for a semester and I needed practice), but I'll try translating this comic with the help of a dictionary. The biggest trouble is that I don't know enough kanji. I can give you enough to get the gist of it, at least:
