Ack! He got him. Now what would he do? He had to prove that the defendant had something better to do.

"Well, why would he take the gloves off, knowing he would leave fingerprints? He would just leave the gloves on.", he tried to keep calm and don't turn the tide againts him.

"Hey, Mr. Roxburghe, what about the security lady? She saw the defendant after the shooting, didn't she? What do you think, should we call her?"

Attie winked.

"That's a really good point, bro, but I think I can do ya one better." The young man said with a smile."GSR is quite hot, right? So, it makes sense that Defendant, not experienced with small firearms, wouldn't know that when GSR comes into contact with clothing, it can heat the the fabric and cause a burn. If that was the case, wouldn't you take the glove off?"

Atticus gave a confident smirk.

Dominic stroked his chin, and stared off at nothing in particular. "Hmm... if we're going to win this, I think we'll need to hit the prosecution by surprise," he whispered. "Ms Oldbag would be the perfect person to do that anyway, and if I remember correctly, she led us to some dynamite evidence that was so well hidden that we're the only ones who have it."

Dominic grinned. "Yeah, I think she could set this trial alight. Of course, if you've got anything else to ask Ms Skye, or an argument to counter that prosecutor here and now, it would be best to finish that now."

Attie sighed and played with his hair. His mind wandered. What could those two be talking about?

"I have no further questions for Detective Skye. I'd like the call the, um, bellboy to the stand." Atticus said.

((Goddammit, couldn't you have called a better prosecutor? This one sucks. [/sarcasm]))

"I don't know, Mr. Roxburghe.", said Ivan. They HAD evidence, but there wasn't a big connection, so he thought. He thought about the whole thing. "Let's listen what the bellboy saw, and if we can't find a connection, we can call the security lady. After all, this trial is far from over."

((HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Hey, I'm new at CR Trials. Cut me some slack.))

Attie looked over at the almost bickering duo. He couldn't resist. "Hey! This is fun, right?" Atticus said with a smile.

'FUN?!?', he thought, surprised. 'A man's life was on the line! That is not fun!'

"I guess, Mr. Parks...", he said, and waited for the witness. He needed this testimony, after all he hadn't talked to the bellboy. He hoped the witness' testimony helped his case. If not, they were doomed.

Mr. Smith looked at Mr. Ramos and sighed, unnaturally calm, "You're too uptight... you will lose this case unless you unwind. If anyone should be tense, it is your defendant, yes?"

The judge then bangs his gavel, "Very well. Thank you for your testimony as always, Miss Skye. Now, the court orders the Bellboy to take the stand"

A man of his early-mid thirties approaches the stand, wearing his uniform and holding a silver tray.

Attie glared, a bit perplexed. This guy looks like a mannequin. Attie thought to himself. Nevertheless, he put on a smile.

"Please, name and occupation." Atticus askes politely.

The bellboy put on his trademark smile and stated proudly, "Very good, sir! I am the bellboy at the illustrious Gatewater Hotel! We have been involved with this very courtroom many, many times, you see! Our hotel is famous for being involved with the murder of famous defense attorney Mia Fey as well as the Jammin' Ninja himself, Mr. Juan Corrida! And, just recently, this case! Each of these rooms have been put on display and people may sleep in them at our special "tour price"! I was even involved with one of the cases personally as I was 'the bellboy who took the stand to prove Mr. White's guilt in the murder of Ms. Fey'!

The bellboy continued to ramble on about his past experiences and famous celebrities, when a gavel was heard. The judge shook his head, "That is enough. I think you have established your occupation well enough for the court. Now, please give your testimony for the court."

The bellboy looked a little embarassed, "Y-yes, your honor."

"It was about dinner time when the murder occurred."

Image

"I was serving meals to the customers on the third floor at the time."

Image

"After I had finished my rounds of delivering dinners, I heard our security officer yelling."

Image

"It sure was a sight to see her professionally nab the defendant!"

-------------------

The judge nodded, "Very well. Your cross examination, Mr. Ramos."

"Yes, Your Honor.", Ivan said.

"Let's see, when you say 'About dinner time', what time do you mean exactly?"

The bellboy smiled, "I arrived on the third floor at 7 PM exactly."

'Hmm... doesn't contradict anything. I'm hitting a dead end here', he thought. "

"Now, about that last statement, what did you see from when you arrived at the crime scene until you left the crime scene? Please, I would want you to tell me even the minor detail.", he said.

Dominic flicked through the court record, stopping on the autopsy report. "Mr Ramos," he whispered, "while it doesn't contradict anything, it does seem a little too convenient. We should definitely make a mental note of the time, even if it's useless to us at present. Unfortunately, that means we can't add the bellboy's comment to the testimony without a penalty."

The bellboy smiled slightly less this time as he spoke, "The security guard was wrestling with the defendant. Apparently, our brave Ms. Oldbag got the jump on the fellow before taking away his weapon and pinning him to the ground. She is quite strong for her very frail age. It was a sight, watching Ms. Oldbag kick that dagger out of Mr. Smith's hands."

"Wait a minute...", he said, slowly. 'Dagger'. "Your Honor, I would like to add this statement to the testimony, if it is possible.". He knew it! Something would happen, that bellboy couldn't be telling the truth! Now he just needed to present the one piece of evidence...

:objection:

"Mr... Um... Bellboy", he started. "You say the security lady kicked the 'dagger', don't you? BUT! The murder weapon... was the defendant's gun!"

:holdit: Attie barked.

"The witness never said the dagger was the murder weapon. Perhaps the Defendant kept a second weapon, in case something went wrong."
