Awesome! Thanks a bunch!

True, there might be leak (not from me, I'll be sure) - but look on the bright side: the more testers, the better chances of the bugs being fixed.
Anyway, thanks a lot!

Once again, good luck, and there's anything I could do (repeat: pretty much nothing), I'll try to help.

Okay, I just realised I forgot to add Crisis to the list, so he is also a tester. If anyone has any questions about the program please ask.

Edit: And oh, forgot to answer Michael Jackson's question, didn't I? I'm just on holiday with my girlfriend. Well, I wouldn't say 'just' because it's been amazing. Gymshoe

And SailorTaurus, that Messenger list is old, remember? I still want to stress the importance of everyone contacting me though.

Wheee! This looks waaaiiii cool! If I download a case creator, it's gonna be this one. I trust you're not bluffing when you say there will be hardly any bugs because that's the reason I'm getting this one and not the other one.

One question, I know it won't use .mp3s but cud you tell meh what sound files it will play?

I'm guessing .ogg, .mid and .wav.

Good luck Shaun. I’m sure the final product will be “splendiforously amazingesque”! Redd White

Eh, if you ever decide to port it to Mac (seems like a pretty big “if”, that), I’d like to be a beta tester. Though if it works in Windows 98, and isn’t too processor-intensive, I can probably boot up Virtual PC for the first time in years and use it through that anyway. :)

Sorry to let you down, but MMF2 doesn't support MAC.

Neko: It'll most likely support .OGG, .WAV, .IT and .S3M as sound formats.

Cleteromagos: It initially probably won't work on virtual PC as it uses MDI. (Though I'm not sure about this.) If it makes a difference I will make a non-MDI version later on (though alas, the interface wouldn't be the same).

Crilly: 3D images? Er, not sure what you mean there. If you mean support for 3D models, its initial release won't have it so that case five feature won't be possible. However, if people can produce good 3D models when the case maker is out and there's high demand I may look into implementing it.

By my question, Shaun, I meant where did you go?

Like always, I have some questions... Edgy
1. How does the screen shake? Is it like MechaBowser's, where the window itself shakes, or does it shake in-game?

2. Even though this feature isn't in the games, I've been wondering is there can be dynamic backgrounds. Take an oven in a kitchen, for example. Let's say a character said the oven was burning and smoking and he ran away, leaving you there and the background. Can we have the background picture changing, like the smoke coming out is moving? Is so, will it be handled in a format like GIF? Again, I don't expect to this in, but it'd be a nice tidbit.

3. Lastly, do we have a credits feature, or do we need to put in the credits in the textbox?
My signature was so bad I removed it. But alas, when I become better in Photoshop, it'll return in full glory. =P

Ohh. Bournemouth from Manchester. Long journey. Phoenix

1. Most likely the latter, but I may offer window shaking if users demand it.

2. Wow, nice idea. I'll look into this.

3. Textbox credits would suck. It'd just be done in the cutscene editor and you'd make it trigger the cutscene at the end.

Yeah. Like the games themselves, you can make a GIANT cutscene, and put a frame or two of credits up, followed by a person talking, then more credits etc. It wouldn't be hard to do :3

Also, Dynamic Backgrounds = Win, although it may be hard to impliment. But if this CAN be done, then it could be very very popular :)

Let's hope nobody steals the idea now. ;) Dynamic backgrounds should be easy enough to implement. I worry about it draining CPU power, but like I said, I'll look into it. Phoenix

And yes, credits and anything similar will be achieved with the cutscene editor easily.

It depends. I am thinking about making the dynamic elements of a background separate images, possibly allowing alpha channels too, instead of changing the entire background image. It would be rather complex.

I admire you for sticking with this Shaun, I know it can be frustrating.

What people need to understand is that Shaun's in the early EARLY stages of programming. I know what it's like when people are throwing questions right and left towards you.

It's a great idea when programming to get the systems down first and THEN flesh them out, else you can code yourself into a corner. I know with every game I make or design in RPG maker, I'll always get the systems down first before dressing them up with better graphics and whatnot.

And to head it off right now: Can this PLEASE not turn into a debate between what is better, Casemaker or Phoenix Write? Both programs will use different things to achieve the same goals. Everything is buggy at first, as MB's maker is right now and we know Shaun's will be in the first stages too.

Two different people, two different programmers. Some may find one easier than the other to use but they shouldn't be in competition with each other.

Actually, Shaun, I do NOT prefer window shaking. I prefer only the game screen alone to shake. This is due to the point where I may want to record my fan-made cases with a desktop recorder (like snagit, hypercam, whatever) and show some of my cases. I don't want any part of the window to show in the video that I record of it. Phoenix

Also, I want to ask, will we be able to show off evidence for the top corner screen? Like when Phoenix points out something inetresting about a particular item, the game screen shows it on the corner of the screen. I posted screen shot of an example of this in Mecha Bowser's case maker, but I want to know if you have a different method of doing this. Detective Gumshoe

Thanks Kusanagi, I was taught a lot about worrying about the interface later in my computing classes. Unfortunately, most of my teachers knew me as a perfectionist and I try to get things looking polished as soon as possible. As soon as I've finished typing this post though, I'm going to do a lot more work on it. I agree that this shouldn't turn into a battle, but when a certain member of this forum comes in here crying, trying to take his day's anger out on my case maker, it can't always be helped.

N-Mario, thanks for the program recommendations. I previously used Camtasia and it's usually fast enough on my PC, but not on my laptop. So, I'm trying them out for future use. Phoenix Also keep in mind the ideal resolution of the cases made with Phoenix Write. Full-screen mode should also be supported. Evidence in the top corner, etc., should be very easy to implement. The way I'm making things work will make things a lot easier for me in the long run. Gant

Hmm.... Well I wouldn't say window shaking would be a preference if full-screen resolution is going to be an option.

Also, besides the coding/scripting that will be far different from Mecha's, will the game/case screens be all the same? Like will it have a top screen for the game, and bottom screen for the buttons, court records, etc? Wondering becuse I can't really picture 2 screens in a full-screen resolution scale.
