Now, I assure you this isn't to complain about the lack of posts in my fan fiction thread or to advertise it, but I would like this cleared up by a show of posts. If someone wrote a fan fiction about a pairing you didn't support, would you read it? Looking at the romance fan fictions other people have written and their amount of posts, I can't help but wonder if the featured pairing (when applicable) is the reason why they're more popular.

Actually, I'll be honest and say that I'm really not into reading stories with pairings in them period no matter who is paired up with who. Yes, I'm weird like that. With me, I guess I just prefer a more general story in particular.

No, not exactly. A story, if well written, can actually encourage people to like the pairing even more. I once read a PheonixEdgeworth fanfic where everyone was so in character that it wasn't hard to envision things being played out as the fic said. A guy even ended up reading it and said it was pretty plausible. Hahaha. Though some people may get discouraged if it's a pairing highly improbable or a pairing they dislike, if they story is well-written, it's fine by me.

It depends. I rarely read stories with pairings that I truly dislike unless the author is a really spectacular writer, but I'll often read stories with pairings for which I have rather neutral feelings. I enjoy a well-told story more then anything (well-told stories with pairings I really like get extra points on my rating scale though :edgy:

), but I have been turned off of stories with pairings I can't stand.

I'm not much into reading drama/romance. Writing it, possibly, but I'm not much for reading it. I like reading comedies, but I don't like writing them.

It really depends on the writer and their writing style, but usually no, I don't read stories that feature pairings I'm not fond of.

Eh.

If I'm bored and have nothing to do, I'll read any fanfiction with a pairing I disliked or one about a pairing I didn't had an opinion to. Then sometimes the fic would convert me into a shipper, but fanart usually does the job for me. :P

But just mentioning it is like doing just that, isn't it? :redd:

From what I've seen, no matter what pairing you come up with, there's at least a handful of people on this forum willing to ship it. Whether or not they read/review fanfic is a different matter, but if you're having trouble attracting an audience all you can do is make your fic as good as you can and update it often.

Trying to figure out why certain fics have more reviews over others is a hopeless business because in my experience it can be very random.

I'm pretty much with her. I tend to not read much though. Unless A. A fanfic has gotten fave reviews, or B. Someone reviewed my fanfic and asked if I would read theirs.

I do tend to be more attracted to Fanfics with pairings I like, but if something strikes me as interesting, I'll read it. I read a Phoenix Edgeworth a little while back, it was a little contrived, but still cute in it's own way. I'm not really a supporter, but hey, variety is the spice of life.
