I personally really like JFA's music. Coming off of AA's amazing music, though (as has already been stated itt), it seemed a bit...lacking. But I most definately grew to love it. The Reminiscence themes were absolutely amazing, and "Tachimi Circus" was one of my favorite location/person themes in the series. The only song that really could've used some work, in my opinion, was "Village of Kurain". It was just so...ugh. :sadshoe: Other than that, JFA's music was win.

By orchestration I mean which instrument plays what. For example, with Great Revival's arrangement, it didn't sound as majestic as I would have thought. If I had an mp3-quality composing program and a copy of the music, I could probably make arrangements that really do the music justice.

The only good themes in JFA are used exclusively in 2-4 (well, up until T&T used search core to death). I think that's why people don't like the soundtrack- the game only had one good chapter and it was the last one- not to mention that it was the only one with good music.

Agreed. Yeah, JFA had my personal favorite soundtrack.

Cornered 2002 is very epic, but I'll go one step further and say the JFA court suite in general was my favorite of all of them. Plus, it had my two favorite "slow" themes: Elegy of Surveillance Cameras and Steel Samurai's Ballad, plus Search Core 2002, and the entrance of Pearl's theme plus de Killer's theme (and Great Revival, of course).

Actually, JFA is my favorite game overall, but that's a different can of worms altogether. :pearl: :shoe:

Meh, when I first played JFA I thought "WHAT THE HECK WHAT'S WITH THE MUSIC" but it grew on me. I think AA had better music though, especially the Objection and court theme (am I the only one that liked AA's court theme? To me it's the signal that court is beginning. I missed it.)

The only music I like more than JFA is TT and that's only by a little bit. AJ is slightly under JFA and AA is under AJ. Not to say I hate AA, I just prefer the others.

But I prefer the court music, the examination themes (TT's moderate was weak =/) and the cornered theme (but just by a little bit) of JFA.

I do think the music was underrated. I mean; there were some gauge-my-eyes-out tracks but some of them I really liked. I really loved Reminiscence ~ the Fire Carves Scars and the Steel Samurai Ballad one as well. Both of them were probably my favorite Reminiscence songs. The detention center song was okay, but I REALLY loved the TnT one. The Great Revival songs I thought fit the scene as well. And the Search In the Midst and Core were both amazing.

I really didn't like Oldbag's theme. At ALL.

But the JFA music was still great, I don't hate the soundtrack, it's just I don't like some of the songs. But some of the songs are really great. But the TnT soundtrack is my absoulute favorite.

Having recently downloaded a lot of the series soundtrack, I'm compelled to agree. Actually, this game is probably tied with AA for my favourite soundtrack. Which is rather ironic considering that those were the two I initially completed with the sound off.

This game has:

My favourite dawn of a new trial theme. Just epic.

My favourite defendant lobby theme.

The best Search : Core theme.

Very good cross examination music. I'll admit that this music didn't really pile on the pressure as much as it should have done, but taken just as a piece of music, it's great.

A mostly very good Announce the Truth theme. It's just one particular part that bothers me.

Some excellent Reminiscence themes:
The Fire Carves Scars: Very poignant.
True Pain: Beautiful. I love the way they made it sound like normal circus music, only heartbreaking. It's so appropriate, especially when played right at the very end of the trial.
Steel Samurai Ballad: Again, the achievement of making the Steel Samurai theme sound sad is remarkable.

The Great Revival - Miles Edgeworth: It fits Edgeworth's new, enlightened, happier persona so well.

The Whim of a Murderous Gentleman: Perfect for the character it represents.

The only piece of music not quite up to snuff is Elegy of Surveillance Cameras. I prefer the AA and T&T Detention Center themes, although it probably beats the one from Apollo Justice, which doesn't seem to have much despondency.

Search Core, Great Revival (and the alternative version of this), Whim of a Murderous Gentleman, In Search of Midst, Court Suite 2, and Detention Center all made the music EPIC.

However, I give Objection and Cornered to AA, as well as various character themes.

Actually that's cheating. AA's Cornered theme was in JFA at one point...

Query. Have you ever listened to the real Toccata and Fugue in D minor?

Also, JFA's allegro Cornered is still pretty much the best thing ever. Like, >>> sliced bread good.

JFA was the first game I played, so I think I like the music more than other people probably do.

The only problems I have are the Search~Opening music and Moe/Oldbag's music were really annoying, and the Cross Examination~Allegro was too similar to the Moderate version. I actually didn't know there were two different musics until I played the first game, got curious about it, then got the soundtrack.

As a side note, while I like Trick and Magic, the Victory theme, Detention Center, and Defendant Lobby music, I like the other game's versions better.

However, Hotline to Destiny, Great Revival, and Eccentric were all AWESOME.

I don't think that anyones mentioned the totally great song from Reunion and turnbout, the music they play when they show the cutscene at the begining. It's really sad and it was because of this music i managed to put up with Ini (who i found really iritating btw). lol

I actually don't have a favourite game in terms of music because all of the games have the best DS game music i've ever heard.

Oh and i love phoenix's ringtone lol, i'm so obsessed that i have it as my ringtone (my friends found this very amusing). Wellingtons ringtone really cool too lol (unfortunately i found everything else about him really annoying :meekins: )

Also i love the Edgeworth returning music (partly because Edgeworths joint favourite charecter lol, i'm actually listening to it right now on Youtube)

Honestly, when I first started JFA, I couldn't stand the music - I like the AA soundtrack a whole lot more (but I'm guessing that was just because I had just beaten it at the time?). After the first trial, it began to grow on me more though, and I began to love it as much as the first. ^^ But at the same time, I think I still like the music from the other games more, but that's not to say that JFA's music is horrible. I love a lot of the tracks, especially Search Core 2002~

JFA's soundtrack is probably my least favorite in the series.

That said, I still love it. It loses a lot of points due to the boring Examination songs. They just didn't feel like there was any sense of urgency. However, it's still filled with win, and IMO has the best Reminiscence and character themes. Hotline of Fate is just amazing.

Spoiler: My Comments: Long
Courtroom Lounge: NOT a better piece of music than AA, but is more "Judgement Day", therefor suiting more.

Trial: See Above

Examination: Seemed "Eternal Search for the contradiction", Just like AA. I'm not sure on this one.

Examination Allegro: I LOVE THIS ONE! *a-HHHEEEEMMMM :grossburg: * Didn't go as well as the first, but I prefer it. AA one also pwns though

Objection: I used to turn the sound off when it plays. It's kinda grown on me. Still too happy though.

Victory: The Best in the series. I haven't played AJ and T&T, though I think I've heard these before.

Detention Centre: Also my favourite. AA is pretty good though, but T&T, *shudder*

Steel Samurai/Ringtone: :will:

Suspense, Dick Gumshoe: Still the same, so deserves mention.

Great Revivals: This mini-set suits well and I love it.

+Trick+: Got on my nerves. Not as good as the first.

Search - Opening: *Turns sound off*

Search - In The Midst: *Turns sound on*

Search - Core: *Puts on headphones at full volume*

Reminiscenes: Makes me want to make a Freewebs site of the incidents from the past.

Kurain: Now everyone, Relax as you go into a trance or do something spiritual...

Physce Lock: Is teh ownz.

Shelly De Killer: Needless to comment on.

Hotline of Fate: This or Suspense?

Circus: DAMMIT

That's all I've got.

The first time i played JFA, I was underwhelmed with the music.. BUT i'm replaying it at the moment and i have to say, it sounds much better the second time round! :s

I love most of the reminisiscence music in this game, it's very moving, especially True Pain, Steel Samurai's Ballad, and The Fire Carves Scars, they're my favourites. Oh, and Wellington's ringtone!

I HATE Moe's/ oldbag's music! So annoying!

It took me a while to get used to the soundtrack. I did not like it very much at first and found it to be a little underwhelming.

Trick and Magic, Examination ~ Allegro 2002, Eccentric, Shelly de Killer ~ The Whim of a Murderous Gentleman, Pursuit ~ Cornered 2002, and Police Cell ~ Elegy of Surveillance Cameras are my personal favs.

Totally agreed.

Lets start with bad things:
I hate trial theme and defendant lobby...They aren't so catchy or something and
trial theme is horrible...
Also...some other themes are wery horrible too...for example:
- Objection
- Kurain
- Victory

BUT!!!
Everything other is just in places and fits more then wery well.
For example. I think this game has best court themes or at least second best (If we don't count those I already stated)
Cornered is catchy and after listening examination for long time, you will fall in love with those.
+ I think this game has best inform the truth.

Also...This games reminiscenses are way too good.
Maybay the case 3s remi is little too all and all over it again, bt it's still so sad.
And steel samurais ballad sure get all points.

All character themes are...how should I put it...Like the character itself.
These really fits to them an oh boy...
redone Maya is way better.

I also love the ending theme and...well that is it.
This game has best ending so far (only my opinnion?)

Overall:
The full soundtrack isn't maybay the best but it goes in top 5 (.....wait a minute... XD)

I'm really glad that I discovered this topic, since it got me to look up all these music again and enjoy them.
But howcome I hardly see a soul who mention Prosecutors' Path?
I'm not sure aboute the title, I'm just getting it off the YouTube video, but it's the one you hear when Edgeworth and Franziska are talking at the airport.
Imagine this. You've been through 2-4 just now, with all that intensity right from the first day, plot twists, and mental torments.(Seriously. many people do suffer moral agony from playing this episode)
And then somehow Phoenix pulls it off, the villain gets his share of punishment, rejoice rejoice, and you're very glad....and also, probably tired. Well I was.
Then this music, with Edgey and Franzy's dialogue.
It was just so...... moving. I just couldn't proceed fast.

JFA's music is perfect, absolutely perfect, for 2-4. But that seems like all it was made for, since it doesn't necessarily fit the first 3 cases.

But seriously, every track works wonders with how 2-4 works
