Argh, still a couple of days to wait before MK Wii even arrives. Someone mind explaining how the controls work with the Wii Remote? Like...which buttons to press for acceleration (I'm guessing A), items, etc.? Also do you physically tilt the Wii Remote to make turns? I can essentially look up an explanation somewhere online...but I'd like to hear from you guys and what you think of the new controls :will:

Use the A button to move, turn with the analogue stick on the nunchuck, you flick the wiimote up to do tricks/wheelies, the B trigger makes the karts do a little hop. I think the items are controlled with the Z trigger on the nunchuck (not 100% sure though).

That's for the wheel, but using the nunchuck/remote combo you press A.

My whole house is effectively addicted to MKW. I picked up the game mostly for myself for online play, but then one of my housemates tried it out, then another, then another...now it seems like I'm playing the offline multiplayer way more than online. I've got everyone unlocked except for Dry Bowser and Daisy (possibly a few karts too).

Mach Bike ftw. Now that I've gotten used to the crazy inner-drifting on some of the bikes, it feels really odd to go back to karts.

I use the Wario Bike a lot when I play... or the "Offroader" or whatever the Car is called: I always use Wario.

I got all Trophies and "Stars" on 50 cc. :larry2: And I want to take a picture of my Screenshot the Game made.... it has my Gumshoe Mii's head on a Green Jumpsuit.

It fits nicely... but my camera sucks. :sadshoe:

@Anders - I saw someone called "Anders" online a couple of days ago, from America. I wonder if it was you~ :P

I just wanted to have a boast about the fact I now have at least a 2 star rank in every cup on every difficulty >8D
As for trying to get 3 stars in everything..... HAHAHAHAHAHA HELL no.

I've been playing it since sunday. I've completed all the cups on all levels of difficulty (though I don't have any stars, as far as I remember), and am currently in the middle of unlocking the expert ghosts for the remaining unlockable characters/karts. I'm pretty good at using my Mii. :hobohodo:

Although the difficulty is a bit high (seriously, a blue shell, three red shells, the lightning bolt, the squid and getting bumped by every passing racer?), I think it mostly stems from the amount of racers on the track than from A.I. difficulty: otherwise it would seem to be about the same, if online matches with fewer players are anything to go by.

The over-the-top rubberbanding is an entirely different issue, though I feel that helps spice the races up a bit. I mean, it's one thing to have a solid lead, but there's a problem when you start overlapping the computer players.

I LOVE the Wii wheel! And bikes rock!
I just wizzed through the 50cc no problem!
I used Luigi and his third kart (until I got the Blooper kart.)

Did anyone else install the MK Channel to their Wii menu?

Yeah, I did, but it's kind of useless. When you're going to play actual Mario Kart, you need the disc anyway - and the channel's also in the game itself.

I did as well, but I find that for example if I am going to do a competition I need to actually start it from the Mario kart game.
Because on the channel you can only use the Wii remote, as I use the gamecube controller I have to exit to the menu and reset it.

My Wii doesn't want to make me a MKW Friend Code.

But if anyone sees someone playing as a Pikachu or SparkB or Spark, with a Spark Brushel Mii, that's DEFINETELY me. Either that, or i'll be playing as Rosalina or Phoenix, that could be around 400,000 people.

I got to play a good amount of the game not that long ago.

It's pretty great. The stage designs are sweet, good selection of characters, and the whole trick method adds more strategizing to racing.

I would say this is the best Mario Kart game so far, makes the Wii much more worth getting.

Turning is really hard to get used to... maybe I'm just turning the wheel too much. It just feels a whole lot different to the other MK games...

*sigh* On a different note, I love Baby Peach though, I think she's adorable. I thought the few small pixels she took up in Yoshi's Island DS weren't enough... <3

I must be the only person who didn't like this game quite so much. The controls don't really feel comfortable to me for some reason, and I prefer the DS and GC tracks a lot more. I wouldn't say it's the worst Mario Kart (That title is completely reserved for Mario Kart 64.), but it's far from my favorite. Mmm, original SNES Mario Kart... Rainbow Road used to completely kick my ass.

I hate the barrage of shit that'll get thrown at you when you're in first place. (I'm only twelve feet from the finish line, then I get a pow, a lightning bolt, two blue shells and three red shells in a row... seriously.) I understand the need to make a game challenging, but how about making the computers better at maneuvering and timing than arming them to the teeth with moder weapons.

I did really like some of the new tracks, and the graphics and style were quite nice. Plus: playing with the Wii wheel was much more fun than I expected. I'm gonna give this one a 7/10.

BTW, the newest Rainbow Road was not a disappointment. Could've been a little harder, but the style was absolutely stunning and there were some fun curves.

Lol. I agree. Rainbow Road isn't Rainbow Road unless it's challenging. I still think the one on the DS is my favorite, but the Wii's Rainbow Road is right up there. N64's Rainbow Road was too easy to me. Nothing can beat the DS' Bowser Castle though! I have yet to see a Bowser's Castle as fun as that one.

I see the Force is strong in this one. And by that, I mean that it never ceases to amaze me when I find someone with tastes similar to my own. Pff, MK64 Rainbow Road had RAILS. RAILS! Can you believe it?! DS RR was also my favorite, closely followed by the original SNES version.

And DS Bowser's Castle was absolutely excellent.

I have to say, the Wii did have some fun tracks I'll admit that. I still feel though that the DS had overall, the best tracks in the MK series. To me, they seemed very creative. I mean they had a track inside of a giant pinball machine!!! I did like the Gamecube one too, but to me, it seemed.... I dunno... easy to me. I know the Wii's controls are simplified and all, but it's the item abusing that makes it hard. Geez... getting hit with 5 blue shells in one race... on a 50cc! That is not supposed to happen!!! D: I guess I just liked the DS version though because to me it felt like a fair challenge and the tracks were loads of fun. It's the Mario Kart I catch myself playing the most too.

Wow.... am I getting off topic by praising the DS Mario Kart? XD

... Wait wait wait.... Rainbow Road could've been harder? O_O ... Are you kidding?
Have you played it in 150cc/Mirror using the wheel, with item rapeage? HAHAHAHAHAHA oh lawd how I swore <_<;
My fave tracks have got to be Koopa Cape, Toad's Factory and Maple Treeway <3
As for old tracks, Sherbet Land, SNES & N64 Bowser Castles and Delfino Square.

I think I like more of the old ones that I do of the new ones, but they're all pretty cool to me.

I'm talking about the course itself, never mind the item abuse and wonky Wii controls. I can see where the difficulty would mount quickly. Yeah, Maple Treeway was very <3. ^_^

I'm with you, Dully. GC one was too easy (though I think it had many awesome tracks), DS one is my favorite. I have a very special place in my heart for the original, though.

@Fooly: Oh no! I never said it was easy or nothing! I just said it wasn't my favorite! More like my second favorite. Besides, I can see where it can get difficult when the computers are complete blue shell item abusers. I've played enough to know and experience it. -_-

Now if you're talking about favorite tracks for the Wii....

Rainbow Road
Bowser's Castle
Grumble Volcano
Koopa Cape
Maple Treeway
N64 Bowser's Castle
Sherbert Land (N64)
Delfino Square (DS)
Peach Gardens (DS)
Bowser's Castle 3 (GBA) gets a mention, only because I love the music on that track.

@Ami: I never got to play the original, (Never had a SNES D:) but I did get to play all the tracks on Super Circuit. That one had a couple of tracks I would have loved to see go 3-D. Ribbon Road for sure.
