I'm a huge anime fan, but for some reason, I've never been to a con before. I could never get to one because of transportation issues, money, etc. But this year I'm finally going to my first con in September, and I need some advice.

I really want to cosplay as Young Mia. (That's a dead-set decision.) I figured, in order to make her, I'm going to need to buy her jacket-skirt, shoes, her scarf, and her earrings. (I'm going to make the Magatama necklace and Attorney badge out of clay.)

Problem is, I've been searching for forever, and I just cant seem to find a jacket/skirt combination that looks like what she's wearing. (Yes, I know hers is a one-piece thing, but I'm trying to be realistic.) Also, I can't seem to find a scarf that is skinny and/or long enough and is the same color as hers. I haven't done a search for shoes yet, but I recognize the style and it might not be too hard to get a pair at a Payless or something.

So...if any of you know a place where I can get this stuff, or if you have any other advice for me, please let me know. I'm desparate!!

I just came back from a Young Mia cosplay! I got to do the hairflick! XDD

Okay, basically, it doesn't need to look like a one-piece thing at all. I got really lucky and found a nice jacket then used an undershirt and manipulated the collar so it looked like the original. Also, you could try going to a fabric store and getting the fabric for the scarf. You don't even have to actually make it, a tailor can make it for you.

Oh, and the shoes were really hard to get for me. You're lucky, they're in-season now, while I had to search for them months before. XD

Yeah, there's a couple of fabric stores around where I live, so I think I'll get the scarf made there.

Do you remember where you got your jacket at all?

"Forever XXI" or something like that. They might not have it anymore, though, so I don't know. DX

Depending on your sewing abilities, you could make the outfit yourself. It shouldn't be too hard to find a similar clothing pattern at the fabric store since their pattern libraries are immense. This way, you know it'll fit and be as exact as you want it. Of course, it is a lot of work so save it for a backup plan. Making the magatama and badge out of clay is a good idea. I would recommend the special clay stuff they sell at craft stores. Stuff like Sculpey or Fimo that you mold and then bake. It's a little lighter than real clay I think and not nearly as messy. Plus it comes in a lot of colors as well.

Yeah...unfortunately I have no sewing ability whatsoever. Thanks for the clay recommendations though!

After it's baked you can also sand it down smooth for a nice finish :D
