Yes. Unfortunately last night, I had clicked one of those posts. It was quite scarring. On the flip side, I turned out okay because I had seen stuff just as gross when I was reading Phoenix Drive on the Final Turnabout website the other day... the main scary thing was hearing the voice come on and my computer freezing up for what seemed like 10 minutes. (It was actually less than that... I tried clicking the X and ending Internet Explorer by Windows Task Manager to stop it...) I'm so glad I turned down the speaker volume before my mother heard the looping voice...

I'm just curious, though. Did everyone really get off the forums? Or were there guests/users browsing the entire night?

And I'm just curious? Did the FBI actually do anything? I got that message from Rhia last night... and I was actually kind of shocked. I personally thought it was a joke to make us all scared, and kick us off the forum, but if Tails had actually called them... then I guess not...

In case something else happens like this ever again, could JUST ONE person carry out the PM warnings? I seriously got my inbox flooded with the same messages last night. I know the posting in every forum of the board issue was already cleared up. And after last night, I think that thread "In case of hax, break glass" should be edited a little bit as a reminder of what NOT to do.

For those of you with Firefox you should go to the ad-ons and get Adblock Plus and No Script.

Adblock Plus lets you manually block images and ads from websites and No Script auto blocks things like flash videos unless you tell it to allow them.
They both went to use major time last night.
I didn't even have a problem with the videos. They never showed up.
You have to tell it to allow things like Youtube but it is well worth the momentary inconvenience to get that extra protection as I found.

I'd actually recommend looking at allot of the different ad-ons you can get. I have a nice green theme, cool tab effects, a world clock, a music player controller, and a weather forecaster along with the two ad-ons I just posted.

I luv ma Firefox. XD

Out of curiosity, does the FBI have jurisdiction over something like what just happened? Free speech on a private forum and all that.

Also, I looked at what SomethingAwful wrote about Court Records and man, it was terrible. Such a negative light... Those SA people and trolls just have too much time on their hands.

I believe the issue is directed to another domain that houses questionable content(which was seen here). I doubt any important people(other than Tails) have any power over anything that goes on in a public forum. I realize there's an online equivalent to shouting "FIRE" in a theatre, but whatever it was that went on here in the past 24 hours, it probably wasn't that.

Note: Closing registration automatically transforms this area into a private forum. Weeee.

I don't see anything positive other than the capture of Kenji's post. Yes even mine strikes a note with most goons.
Gwiffen wrote:

Are you stupid? :lana:

No that's really me asking.

Goons that try their absolute best to stay in GBS at all times and away from the search button take pride in their efforts to make the most meaningful content that you will never imagine. To have too much time doing that is impossible.

The trolls are a different story. When I see SA and troll in the sentence you made, I only see the word DONATION. Radium didn't overhaul a bunch of crappy code just so trolls could bug Lowtax and Frag every single minute. The whole idea behind charging $10$ per registration was to keep the trolls out. You might want to read about TastyArmageddon in order to get a clear perception of what a troll REALLY is. I would never place the weirdos that recently invaded this forum in the same category as this guy. :maggy:

I kind of like seeing this place turned into a private thing. It feels nice.♥

I wouldn't mind SA making fun of us that much if they'd given us advanced warning. Then we could've closed registration and stopped the trolls from getting in.

Even so, it feels a bit like a kick in the balls. It's not like I have to be here you know, but I come here anyways and try to make this the best I can. But then I find out that someone who doesn't even bother to try the game wants to pass judgement on us for "Humour" and it gets my goat. I had enough "humor" when I was bullied for most of my childhood, thank you very much Mr. Lomax. Eff you. >.> (Or to be more specific, eff them.)

It's just the internet, guys. These sorts of things happen. I've seen forums get shut down permanently (and the sites with them!) thanks to trollers. Thankfully, our mods have tougher guts than that!

There's no need to stay mad over anything that someone else does on the internet. Just gotta move on~

Being raised by pious people, I got badly scarred of what I saw. They'd get the punishment in the afterlife, I'm sure of that.

Unfortunately, people like to do sinful things. They fail at seeing the consequences.

NoScript is good.

I was annoyed by the people who did that. I'm pretty sure it was what you call /b/ tards. I've seen worse so the images didn't affect me in any way. It never used to be about raiding forums/sites back then but then it started gaining popularity and they decided to raid anime related sites (mostly Gaia) because it was "gay" and by doing this they screwed themselves lol more people came to their site (they want it kept secret shhh). If anyone noticed their descriptions it said "Chemo for the internet". Apparently anything anime/cute/Japanese related is cancer that is killing their precious site. :yogi:

It's not the /B/ tards. It's a group of non-member SomethingAwful readers who try to destroy anything that appears on it. 'Curing' the internet. We know this, because it happened before to other sites; Anything SA mentions can be in trouble from those buggers.

But I don't really care about the images anymore. I'm just a bit pissy that SA mentioned us, considering the fact we're one of the least spammy forums on the internet. :/

SomethingAwful's Weekend Web has been shit since April of 2005, when the original guy was replaced by some Johnny Tits person. That guy was pretty bad at doing the Weekend Web, and was later replaced by someone even far worse in December 2006; A fucking moron named Hassan Mikal. Hassan is the biggest idiot on the internet and he can't do anything worth reading.

For each weekend web, all he does is visit the SomethingAwful forums asking, "ok guyz post a forum u dunt liek and post 20 or so posts from the forum u want me to lulz." It's no longer about finding the most hilariously bad forums on the internet, it's about petty SomethingAwful members "getting payback" against forums they had a miff with.

Not only do they not pick out even remotely funny posts (or even better, they take spam posts made by bots) to make fun of, but Hassan's commentary is nothing but parroting the post and adding "lol" at the end. For example...

Quote:
Phew, I thought you were serious.

Image

It's just not funny. It's retarded. SomethingAwful has taken a huge dive in the past few years, just like YTMND, 4chan, and every other hell hole on the net.

You're forgetting about the horrible huge signatures, huge posts written like this, all those horrible pairing threads and a large number of stupid posts (ie: Everything DaemonForce related).

These forums aren't as bad as most of those featured in weekend web but the stupid users overshadow the smart ones way too often.

Sigs: We have well planed limits. And if someone goes over users should inform them they are over.
Color Posts: Some people like to add color, nothing wrong with that. It's a privilege we get to have... not just in America!
Pairing Threads: Some people like paring threads. I tend to leave them alone because I don't care for them and they don't really hurt anyone.
Stupid Posts: Everyone says stupid things from time to time. It's a part of life.
You shouldn't look down on people because of that. Just let them know they said something stupid and help them move on.

I have to agree with Gerk. I haven't even seen the SA thing about us though, and I don't want to.

In my opinion, any signature at all over two lines of text is far too much and only clutters the forum, plus topics about "what colour is your GameCube??" are extremely stupid and pointless.

But this isn't my forum so I'll have to accept those things.

It is cute and all that some people like to add color to their posts. However, it only makes reading them a huge pain in the ass.

Signatures are still too large even if it is within the limit, usually there'll be a short one sentence message followed by a gigantic signature.
On the plus side, there is an option to disable signatures so it is not a huge deal.

As for stupid posts, whenever anyone posts something in an internet forum they have to think of a reply, click the post button, write the reply, spellcheck and finally confirm they want to post. That is more than enough time to consider if the post adds to the discussion or not.

I have no problems with colored text as long as it's not the same color as the background or where it stands out to the point that it hurts your eyes a lot. Same with the signatures. I don't mind at all how big as long as it's not a billboard. I don't think this forum is that bad from what I have seen. I have seen far worse and this one is pretty good; even with the "What color is your pen cap" threads. It's all fun and no harm :pearl:
