Hello, everyone. I am a writer, and an idea came to me, as suggested by someone else:

An honest-to-goodness Ace Attorney RPG.

The suggestion was to base it off of the invasion scenario in my CYOA, but that would be a little short for the standards of an RPG. But, being limited in the knowledge of RPG making, programming, and other technical things, this will need to be a group effort. So, if you feel like you can be of assistance, please contact me.

I have a few ideas with the storyline:

- Like aforementioned, base it off my CYOA, but include the entire story, without the court cases, as that is a separate project (although, if one is adept with sprites, please see my sprite request topic).

- A completely new storyline. However, I have been putting thought into this, but nothing is solid yet. I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS!

EDIT: The battle system, as I envision it, will be turn-based, using a small group, from a choice of many. Each character will have specific abilities and weapons, and the storyline will have it so that you have to play with every character at least once. Characters I plan on using (but the list may shrink or grow as time goes on) are:

- Phoenix
- Apollo
- Edgeworth
- Trucy
- Mr. Hat
- Gumshoe
- Franziska
- Ema Skye
- Both Judges

If you like this idea, and/or would like to contribute to its creation, please post here!

Jobs (That I can think of) that are open:

Programmers (Tech stuff that doesn't have to do with the battle system):

Writers (game's storyline): genodragon1

Publicity (i.e. making sigs w/ links to it embedded, spreading the word):

Art (i.e. character concepts, maybe sprites, flash, etc.):

Battle System people:

That's all I can think of at the moment. I could use all the support and help I can get. I'd like to make this dream a reality! :phoenix:

And to those who just like the idea of it, feedback and comments are always welcome!

EDIT: I have no idea what the technical stuff is. If you have technical questions, you will find my lack of knowledge in that area. I am but a simple writer... :larry:

All very good and valid questions, to which I have a very simple answer:

I don't know. :-P

For the first one, are you talking about the format? I have no idea what formats there are, hence my search for people who do know about this stuff.

And for the second one, I'm not entirely sure yet. My main skills that would be applicable are writing and organization. So, I am not able to answer that question fully... :larry:

I am confused. Are you asking to be one, then yes, I need all the help I can get.

If you're asking which one I am using, I have no idea yet.

Yeah, I have no idea. I used to have an RPG Maker for the PS1, but it was confusing as anything. I could do somethings, but I could never finish a project. If you have some suggestions, I would be open to look into it, but I probably won't understand it fully, if at all V.v .

If it's RPG maker 2000 (which is free for the PC -- look at fileplanet), I can definately help. It immitates Final Fantasy 4~6, though it's simpler. You could program a battle system using its basic turn-based fantasy one by making items that hit with one element, and changing the resistances of monsters to only die against those items. It is easy to use (hard to master), but would definately work.

Thank you for the information, I will look into it. It won't completely imitate FFs 4-6, but I like that particular turn-based strategy battle system. Each character will (at least as envisioned) have specific abilities and weapons, and the storyline will be such where you have to use each character at least once.

I'll update the first post with this information.

Well, I need all the help possible, even if it is spreading the word.

And Idk if it's going to be based off the CYOA yet, although that's the first big idea I got, and honestly, it was first suggested somewhere in the plot.

I'm working on another fangame now (I'll announce it later -- it will certainly not be your average PWlib creation), but I've started to work on a prologue demo in RPGmaker2000 which gets its story from 3-1 (the miniboss is "rookie crusher of doom" and you can guess the level's final boss). I'll show you it when I'm done which may take a week or more.

Feel free to use it when it's done as the tutorial level for your game. I am making it for you - think of it as a base for if you decide to use RPGmaker2000.
The characters will be:
:luke-side: :chef: : Hostile witnesses, the random encounters.
:youngpayne: :that-b-word: : The bosses.
:youngmia: :grossburg: : The "heroes"
:jazzsneeze: : He's in your party...but he's always confused, which means that he might hurt you. And you can't let him die. MWAHAHA!

I got an idea. What about trials are turn based battles against the prosecutor and you attack by presenting evidence. A special attack could be summoning a witness.

Also, it's your game but please make it just an internet flash game or something. Making it a download might cause issues with compatibility (for example, I use a mac so a lot of games don't work on it, flash games are more likely to be compatible on more computers).

That is a good idea. However, I'd like to include movement, stores, etc and so forth, like your average RPG. If you could be outside the court, that would be good...

I think this idea, if to work, needs to be fleshed out a little more, but it does have potential.

RPGmaker2000 exports as .exe's. WINE now works for Mac, with the main issues being around graphics...which shouldn't be a problem given RPGmaker's simple nature.
