I love Paper Mario! :D

I have no idea how many times I've played the first one on my N64, but I still love it.
The GC version is not as good, but still really entertaining.
And I don't have the Wii one yet...

The wii one is way differant. I'm hoping for another one for the wii that's true to the series.

Where are you having trouble? I've beaten it at least once & right now I'm pretty far into the game (I'm at the boss of the ice place currently), so maybe I can help.

I hope that they make another one for the Wii. It just wasn't the same :( I still played it, but it was hard for me to enjoy >.<

Hmm... I didn't find the first one all that hard, either. Even when I was younger. I dunno, turn-based RPGs are the only games that I'm actually good at XD

Okay I have all the Star Spirits from PM 1, what stuff should I do/what preparations should I make before going to Bowser's Castle?

I have all party members at Ultra, my BP is maxed out, but my other stats aren't maxed yet. Should I try to max out my stats?

Power Bounce + Badges that increase your power (i.e. P-up, D-down, All or Nothing, etc.). At least, that's my strategy. It's cheap, but it works. Plus, it kills the bosses fast :) You might want to try getting another level or something, although you'll probably level up while in the castle. Just a note, use Bombette in order to get a lot of star points from the skeleton guys (I can't remember their name). Unless you blow them up, you won't actually kill them. They give quite a bit of star points, too.

Should I mostly bring healing (For both HP & FP) items?

Thanks for the tip, Also, Super Jump charge & Power Bounce are good together.

Healing items are good. The best thing to do is have Tayce T. cook Maple Syrup and Super Shrooms. It saves space. Plus, you get at least one Ultra Shroom, Jamming Jelly, and Life Shroom there.

Is there a place to stock up between Bowser's Castle and the final boss fight(s)? If not, is it easy to backtrack? Or should I have enough stuff to last me both the dungeon and fighting Bowser?

Oh man, I love Paper Mario. I've beaten the first and second one multiple times, very much full of awesome. In Paper Mario 1, I highly recommend buying Volt Shrooms for cheap and then having Tayce T. bake them. It's been awhile since I've played, but I think the resulting recipe healed around 15 points, which is good if you just want something for a quick trip.

When I went to fight bowser I souped myself up with a lot of nice badges. BP is a really good thing to have, as you can always swap it out for spare HP or FP if you need to.

Also - a good recipe is to go to the ice village and sleep in the inn there, and take the free frozen potato to Tayce T. and have her cook it into a potato salad. Then have her cook a Life Shroom with a Dried Shroom or regular Mushroom to get a Shroom Steak. Then have her cook the Potato Salad and Shroom steak together and you get a Deluxe Feast item which heals a large chunk of HP and FP. :3 It's very handy.

About stocking up - there is a small shop that you can go to in Bowsers Castle, but it doesn't have a very wide selection so what I would advise is that you place any extra items you want to access later into your shop storage so you can withdraw anything you need from the shop. There are also 'inns' in the castle that you can find along the way, and it's relatively easy to get back to these, though it can take a bit of time.

I would recommend mainly concentrating on healing items for the Bowser fight and attack items for enemies you might encounter along the way. A lot of them can be annoying and almost impossible to kill unless you have special badges or skills.

My brain is kinda weird right now since I'm up so late, but hopefully some of this will be useful. Also, before I forget, make sure all of your party members are leveled up to the fullest, primarily the ones you will be using the most in the castle or to fight bowser.

Thanks, especially for the recipe stuff, that may come in handy. All my party members are on ultra and I have the max BP, though HP & FP are not maxed (anyone know what the maxes are for them assuming you don't have health/FP boosting badges on?).

I can't believe I thought that Lackilester & Chapter 7 were forgettable. Shame on me. Lackilester is one of the few party members in the 1st one with a personality & Chapter 7 has a murder mystery & a mirror dungeon!

Also, in the 2nd Paper Mario, I thought the Glitz Pit & Train Chapters were full of win, I liked having something different than a dungeon. And solving mysteries is awesome (though I don't remember the train one as well as the Glitz Pit one). Hopefully if/when they make another RPG one they'll have 1 or 2 chapters like that again.

In the first one I think... God, this is hard. Well, I really love the toybox, that one is awesome. And the murder mystery too. ^^

In ttyd, the Glitz pit and the Train, definitely.

No problem! :3 I've always loved gathering up the recipes, and a lot of them can be a nice help.

I must agree that the ice level was great in the first one. However on my first play through I had an awful time trying to beat that boss. Luckily the next time I played I souped up on badges ( + fire to all attacks? win. ) and managed it no problem. I loved the mystery part and that dungeon itself was awesome. Lot's of good puzzles in that one.

The Glitzpit and Train were cool because they were something different from the other levels and kind of made things more interesting. I've also got kind of a hate/love relationship going on with the island level in the second one. Cortez is probably the most annoying boss imo.

Aiee the toybox was awesome from it's sheer cute-ness! Though a lot of those shyguys made me want to slam my head into a wall. I liked the garden level for it's atmosphere, though other than a few things it didn't leave a very strong impression. I can't think of any other levels off the top of my head, but the games are still some of my favorites. :D I need to get a Wii so I can play the third one.

I love Paper Mario Mario! Its an awesome series that was really worth it.

I beat it in about 3 weeks, mostly because back then I wasn't allowed to play video games on weekday's, so it took awhile.

But anyway, I think Super Paper Mario was the weakest of the series, but still good.

And that's all I have to say...

Not really.

Who here thinks a Paper Metal Gear Solid would be a good idea?

Just think of it! Fight Solidus Snake in Paper MGS! With Ocelot playing a comic relief role this time around, don't worry about him! Sneak in a whole new way! Use your paper abilities to transform into various things like a cardboard box! Turn yourself flat to avoid enemies from detecting you! Hide in places where you never expected Snake to hide!

I haven't played the first one yet but I do plan on getting it on the Virtual Console when I get my Wii back. I haven't played much of Super Paper Mario myself but I watched Blademaster Orca beat the entire game. And I plan on getting that too for the Wii.

I'm actually playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door at the moment and I just beat Gloomtail last night. I'm using the Jumpman badge set-up as my style of playing with the Bowser sound effect badge. My favorite Chapter is 3 because it has my favorite character in Paper Mario series in it,
Rawk Hawk! Favorite Boss: Cortez. I love this game but the only thing I don't like is getting a game over after 3 hour in the Pit of 100 Trials.

I'm not sure about the flower one..

The toy box is pretty good though.

I didn't get into collecting recipies, but I might if I play TTYD after this one, though I may end up using a guide. I get addicted to tattleing. It even feels collectable in the 1st one when you don't have a little list of all the enimies you tattled that you can look at.

I, finally, beat The Thosuand Year Door today and I got to say that I really enjoyed it. I'm glad that I got it even if it took me forever to actually get it and then actually play it. It's a shame there isn't much left after beating the story and doing a few sidequests.

See, I loved the humour and execution of SPM... heck, it was the only time I've ever beaten the Pit of 100 Trials... (and the other one twice, obvi...), and I found it interesting... but the boss battles weren't NEARLY as good as I had hoped, save the "Hooktail" ones...

But the ending reached about a 10/10 on the "Cheeze-o-Meter", for me, anyways...

Mehh, the other Paper Mario games were just as guilty of such cheesiness near the end.

Spoiler: Other Paper Mario games
In the original Paper Mario game, when the star beam fails during the final fight with Bowser, Peach's wishes cause Mario's star beam to be upgraded into the Peach Beam which can finally destroy Bowser's invulnerability barrier. Kinda lame, but not too bad.

It gets worse in TTYD. During the final battle, every starts cheering Mario on. Because of this, the Crystal Stars gain some sort of power and the strength Mario needs to fight the Shadow Queen. Plus during the end, everyone becomes goody-goody, even the Shadow Sirens and the X-Nauts. If that's not cheesy, I don't know what is.

Though Paper Mario has the least cheesy ending of the bunch, I liked the partners in TTYD much better.

Also, Mario is quite the ladies man in TTYD. Every single one of his female party members has kissed him at least once (and one of the male ones if you are that pissy about Vivian's gender.)
I yell "OBJECTION!" in the court sometimes!

What? where and when does it say vivian is male?
oh well, I fairly enjoyed the thousand year door and super paper mario was ok, but I get a strange feeling of boredom throughout them, I'm not sure why though.
Lord Crump from TTYD is one of my favourite characters though, anyone else notice his similarities to Wario?

Oh yes, I had forgotten about the cheesiness of the endings. Actually, the cheesiness of the game in general. They did a good job of keeping it funny though, and I still laugh whenever I play it. Speaking of which, now I do want to play it, but I don't know which one. :yogi:

One of my favorite parts of the game was getting all of the new sidekicks. :D I was so dissapointed in PM1 when you didn't get a yoshi companion (I love yoshi) so when you get the one in TTYD I was overjoyed. I think I named mine Joey and he was green. For some reason I had this hatred for Flurrie, plus her boobs annoyed me. :[ I think I used the goombas and yoshi the most, imo they were the most useful. (Yay for tattle!) Though I must say, Lady Bow kicked some major booty with her slap moves, so I'm glad they added Ms. Mowz to TTYD. Hooray for bitch slap!

I read about the whole Vivian gender thing, and I think it would be kind of weird if she had been male. It just seems more fitting for her to be female, but that's my opinion.

Hm..maybe I should try out the pit of 100 trials again, I think I've gotten to 50 or so before but I got bored and went back up. I do like getting the new badges/items though, that's always niceeee. :D

@Superninfreak: Yep, I got her but mostly by mistake, really. Regardless, I used her to beat the final boss which was kinda funny.

That reminds me, I named my Yoshi from Chapter 3 in TTYD, Phoenix. Why? I got the Blue colored one with the Pinkish Purpleish colored hair which reminded me of Nick's suit and tie. :moe-laugh:

I read about the whole Vivian gender thing, and I think it would be kind of weird if she had been male. It just seems more fitting for her to be female, but that's my opinion.

I'm pretty sure the people at Nintendo of America agreed with you, then. :sassy:

Spoiler: Paper Mario 1
The original had it's fair share of cheesiness. When you fly to Bowsers castle, people think you're a flying star and make wishes & IIRC, everyone of the wishes except a joke one to eat shroom cake again or something (and Luigi's wish that he mentions in his diary I think), was for peach to get back or something similar to that.

Also, didn't the people's wishes have something to do with the beam getting more powerful? Or was it just peach's wishes and twink's help?

Plus didn't someone mention her kissing Mario? If she's male....then that would be too much for a mario game. No matter what you think about homosexuality, it wouldn't be a smart move to put that in a Mario game.
Jesus is Lord.

Death Note is awesome.

Luigi's wish was written in his diary, his wish was to sleep on the top bunk of their bunk bed.
