Misa isn't Gothic Lolita. 8D She is Punk. Dressing in short revealing outfits isn't lolita. I dress the style all the time. I think I know.

Your not the first person to think like that. I correct people every day based on that.

When I'm not in lolita, I do dress like Misa though. I'd probobly make them write lolita into the script if by some miracle they let a 13 year old girl play as a 18-something super model. With a twenty something love interest. 8D

Last episode of the anime? That would be lolita. It's a semi maid outfit type thing with the head piece.
but the majority of her outfit is a composite of japanese punk and loli styles so for the most part, you are correct.
Basically you can't rule out ALL traces of g-loli in her style.
Wouldnt you agree?

I've seen all of Death Note. I've had the same argument with a ton of people. And, just because something is made of punk and lolita, doesn't make it lolita. Even Ero lolita has a sense of modesty.

Lets watch, shall we?

Spoiler: To the untrained eye, It does look Lolita

Also, look at her hair. Just plopping a headdress isn't enough, you need to do more with your hair.

I made this, to further prove my point.
Spoiler: Misa isn't Lolita
Image

And, most people would say her makeup is too dark.

That, and, Lolita =/= maid, but Aprons =/= Lolita.
But, I add, aprons are not worn with Gothic Lolita.

What happens then? I haven't read that far in the manga but I've seen the anime. There is a low point for me in the anime & I want to know if it's the same thing.

I agree (whether it was viz or Funimation I don't remember..) but that dub was fairly well-done! L's voice in particular was absolutely perfect, and almost everybody's voice well-suited their character.

Spoiler: ending :-P
Something else that struck me--I loved the ending in the anime A LOT better than the ending in the manga. At least in the anime, they allude to Light having regrets about what he's done. The ending animation was also simply gorgeous! I love sunrise/sunset sceneries.

Something else my sister pointed out last night while we were watching it: In Light's death scene, we see a blue silhouette of L. Supposedly his ghost? What the crap?! In this story, there is supposed to be no heaven or hell, so why would L's spirit be visiting him in the first place?

Fan service. That's why. You yaoi-paddled fangirls have so much more power than you know. XD

Ah! The whole "Matsuda shooting scene" is my favorite part of the episode.

Something else I caught... While Matsuda is talking about Mr. Yagami, does he curse in the Japanese version?

"What the Hell did he die for?!" <- Really shows how pissed off poor Matsi was.

@Superninfreak: Funimation actually did the dubbing...but the franchise is still a Viz property. Viz doesn't actually dub anime in-house, but they do translate manga.

@Mr.Trite: About swearing in Japanese--it's a bit hard to say. Most technically, I guess there aren't, but there's still words that are very rude...and being another language, they can be translated to English in several different ways.

Take, for example, "kuso." The most literal translation would be "shit". "Kuso" is a very coarse term for excrement; "shit" in English is the same word. However, "kuso" can also be used to curse situations, etc. (i.e. "shit, he pulled a gun!"). In English, you wouldn't always use "shit" in the same situations as "kuso," so sometimes "damn" works better.

And elementary school boy characters say "kuso" a lot. An American kid probably wouldn't say "shit" in the same situation; "crap," "darn," or "damn" would be more likely.

@Zeronos: My Borders never has the L novel in stock. You know the one time I've actually seen it? An import shop (well, they also carry English manga) in Little Tokyo, LA. Ditto for How to Read 13.

If you have the money (or not, but want them any way like me :bellboy: ), they are releasing the DVD's with limited edition figures (I know some of the DVDs are available without the figures too). I have the first 5. They are available on Amazon.com. The next release is in August. I believe there will be 9 total. Just thought I'd share the info :pearl:

A friend insisted I watch Death Note, so I have begun to despite having already read all the major spoilers. It's good. I feel really bad for Light's dad. My favourite moment was in the eleventh episode when

Spoiler:
the entire police force, who opted out of the Kira case because they were afraid of being killed, turned up to help Chief Yagami get home safely, even though they knew they were in more danger than ever. I think I actually punched the air when that happened, because it was a lovely way of showing that Light's 'most people are secretly Kira supporters' idea might not be right after all. It was a great statement of solidarity in a dark time and a dark anime.

I finished the anime series a few months ago and I really really enjoyed it. It was epic and dark and totally cynical, like it should since it's revolving around a serial killer. I liked how everything played out and I sort of liked the uprising of Kira supporters; it shows how humans are easily swayed by the ones with most power and it was interesting to see. I loved Matsuda... I loved him SO MUCH... not to mention he is totally epic in the last episode. xD

I love L, too... him and his sense of justice and love of sweets... XD He's just epic in every way possible. (I need to stop saying epic as much.)

I plan to buy the live action movie of Death Note when it comes out. I'm pumped to buy it. xP
