Dimento might be a good villian to me if he looked different. I haven't beaten the game yet, but Dimento seems/looks too much like a henchman or some sort of minion to the bad guy, rather than the bad guy himself. Maybe if he was bigger?

Also, Mr. L = win.

Well, it WAS an intended "Plot Twist" to show who was really the most powerful person there... Also, having small characters who end up being very powerful seems to be a staple in the Mario Series... Remember Jinx from SMRPG?

Other games aside, The entire premise was originally that Count Bleck was the main antagonist, but in a "Final Twist", he's betrayed by his minion and the minion reveales their "True power"... I think my tendency to say "Ciao!" before I log off of MSN Messenger, to people, stemmed from Dimentio, in fact...

I actually haven't played SMRPG.

Hey, ese! I guess I'm part of that Minority as well, eh?

I consider SPM to be one of the best Wii Games I've ever played, truth be told... I'll admit, however, that I haven't played a LOT of Wii Games yet... But I still thought it was a great game...

I'm most definately part of that "minority" as well.

Super Paper Mario is a great game, but a lot of people have trouble seeing that simply because it isn't an RPG. People need to understand that just because the battles aren't turn-based, it doesn't mean the gameplay is any less entertaining or that the game itself is automatically worse off without it. It's not like they got rid of the Paper Mario standards of originallity and great writing, either, so it's rather annoying to see people say it isn't a "true" PM game when it includes almost everything important from previous games (the partner system, the items, the "collect X items to save the world" plot, etc.) aside from the core battle system. And really, the name "Paper Mario" is more about the paper-esque art style/physics of the games than anything, something SPM most certainly follows.

And yes, SPM is probably one of the best Wii games currently available. Out of the 35+ that I own, it's it my top 10, maybe even top 5.

Wheeeee I sparked so much agreement! I concur exactly with what Wrestle and Orca said. And Dimentio is such a great villain PRECISELY BECAUSE of his diminutive stature and minionish actions. I mean it's quite easy to figure out that he's up to something early on, but exactly WHAT he's up to makes the game interesting and intriguing throughout. Plus... the voice I do for Dimentio as I read his dialogue aloud is simply too hilarious.

In fact, I've decided, I'm off to replay SPM right now.

I believe I've already said that I suck at the battle system in SPM and that's one of the main reasons why I was disappointed. They took a game series that I was good at and turned it into one that I was bad at. Now wouldn't that piss you off, too? Even at the end I wasn't very good at it >.<

Besides, changing the gameplay changes the game quite a bit. Sure, the plot was fine and what not, but can you honestly say that the gameplay has little to do with a game? If every single game had its gameplay changed, could you say that it was still the same game? Would you honestly feel that way?

Can't you just ask him to buy you a new once since he was the one that ruined it?
Wish I could, but you know, my dad. I'm too young to be kicked out of the house lol. My friend has a copy, I'll probably end up borrowing it from him so I can finish the game. I wasn't a hardcore player by any means. No big deal, the whole reason I'm upset about it is because he fusses at me about not putting his games up and doesn't put mine up. Grr.

Oh well, what I did play was really funny and I enjoyed the game. Loved watching my friend play TTYD. I'm one of those few gamers that can play and watch and be happy either way.

I'm the same way, sometimes I like watching the game being played more than doing it myself, especially if it's REALLY hard or I just don't feel like playing. :P Plus, you sometimes get a different view of a game when you're not focusing as much on beating it, but more of the storyline and seeing the characters/story in a different light. It's kind of hard to explain, but I view games differently when I'm playing them as compared to when I'm watching them.

And whenever I watch someone play guitar hero I'm doing it in my head. o_o Maybe that's just me.

Also- regarding SPM, I've been poking around and I see what you mean. It looks different but still interesting, and even though I'll probably be horrible at it I WILL PLAY IT! Once I get a Wii that is.

When I'm at my friend's house sometimes, her sister will be playing Guitar Hero. She plays on easy and she's not that great at it, which I don't understand because apparently she plays a lot. It's hard for me to watch :P

I used to watch my brother play video games, but he's cut down on playing them, at least on the wii.

That's the one thing I can't stand, when it's on easy or if the person really sucks, because it just gets painful/boring. :c Thouugh I know I have a tendency to get 'stuck' on places in games (even ones I've already played) so that must not be fun for others, watching me try to do the same thing over and over.

But she apparently plays a lot, which is what I don't understand. I was able to play on medium after only playing it a few times, and my hands make playing rather awkward because their natural positions aren't on the buttons. I have to remember to stretch my fingers out and it tends to mess me up at times...

Well, Keelhaul Key is kinda bland compared to other locations but it does get better at the end. Plus, believe it or not, the blandness kinda works considering it's supposed to be an abandoned island (until this point)and all.

The boos battle was kinda on the easy side if you know what your doing. But I still think Cortez is awesome. Not to mention he's like only boss you get to hang around with after the fight. :larry2:

Yoshi = Toe Cheese?

Actually, You should name in someway that feels personally to you and perhaps even something to do with it's color. Like, I had the Blue Yoshi with the Pink-ish hair. I ended it calling it Phoenix for reasons I'm sure you can figure out. :knock-knock:

*reviving topic. :D *

I LOVE the Paper Mario series! The first N64 one is one of my childhood treasures. :) You know something's good (and easy! I don't see how people have trouble beating this!) when an 8-year-old beats a game 5+ times. It's STILL fun to play! And it was very good-looking for its time.

PM:TTYD is my favorite though. I only got to play through it once, though! D: Although there wasn't as much incentive to do side-quests as there was in the first game, the story and characters WAY make up for it! Vivian ftw. And for the first time it's hard. The Shadow Queen was EFFING HARD for a PM fight, and I hear that Bonetail is worse. D;

I'm mostly through SPM. I'm almost through the "Overthere" level. It was good and fun (especially with flip) but it starts to fizzle towards the last half. :/

I've only played Super Paper Mario, so I can't say anything about how it's changed, but SPM was awesome. I've completed it, but I've still got the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials to do. I'll admit The Overthere was a little too long, but it was a great story and fantastic characters. I want a Count Bleck signature.

As is custom in my mind, I will make my first post have absolutely no relevance to anything anyone has said. Yes.

In my opinion, IS screwed over the entire Paper Mario formula with Super Paper Mario. It was pretty freaking beast on the N64 (I remember getting it for Christmas; I was ecstatic. :grey:), and the sequel on the GameCube was no doubt just as good, if not better. I loved it. But then I played through about the first two chapters and it was garbage. It disappointed me. Baw.

Woo, topic revival! :b33r:

Anyway, I noticed something weird about TTYD.... Nearly every female character is smitten with Mario in some way. If you can recall, EVERY single female party member kissed Mario at some point.

(And I read that in the Japanese version Vivian is MALE, so Mario might even be attractive to some of the guys. >_>)

Hahah! Those are funny. Capcom + Nintendo, done a little conspiracy work? Nice... observations. Heh. I really need to replay that one. Good game. The Glamville Chapter had to be my favorite. It holds a place in my heart.

The first two were challenging, the third was SO FREAKIN' EASY!

Even the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials, even completing it TWICE, it was cake. I didn't even need to bring ITEMS with me! I just used the ones enemies dropped! (Also, I invented 4 strategies for completing the pits... and Sammer Kingdom as well! I have yet to find a flaw in the strategies. :karma:)

Really, I always found the very first Paper Mario easy, even as a little kid.

But I had trouble with Super Paper Mario. :sadshoe: Maybe I'm just not very good at platformers...
