So...the plan is to make a Charley (the awesome office plant) cosplay for next years Sakura Con in Seattle. The problem is...I have no idea how to make myself look like a tree XD.

I was going to go to the craft store and buy a bunch of fake plants, that look like Charley's leaves, and stick them to me in an organized fashion.

Not sure how I'm going to make my legs look like bark.

And just for fun I was going to Gel my hair up into a spiral shape (unless someone can think of something better).

And I was going to carry a plastic container/vase/pot with me so I could stand in it.

I will probably draw a picture of what I had in mind and post it here.

If you have any suggestions to make my tree making life easier...I would much appreciate it.

There's a type of paper that's kinda ruffled like a potato chip. You can get them in every color imaginable.

Making your legs look like bark... I think brown colored tights or socks might work on that. :phoenix:

That's what I was thinking about before, but now I am thinking it is going to have to be a full body brown "spandex" like material.

I usually go braindead at 4:30AM. I have 15 more minutes! Very epic indeed. I hope I finish it in time for the con.

That seems like a good idea but I think the paper would be too itchy and hard to sit down in.

I am going to see if I can post a sketch of what my idea is so everyone has a reference to go off of.

Not a bad idea. Have a question about that pot that says Charley. How will you manage that?

I have seen somebody do a beautiful anthro version of the sakura tree from Tokyo Babylon. She cosplayed as the 'spirit' of the tree, so to speak, not the physical manifestation of the tree itself. She was still covered in sakura blossoms. Maybe you could consider something like that.

I do like your costume design so far.

Thanks. Do you know where the link is to the person who did the sakura tree costume? I would like to see that if you knew where it was.

I will probably just jump inside the pot when someone wants a picture and then just drag it around the rest of the time. It will be a lot of work. One of my friends said that I could use the pot like a carrying-bag/thingy, so that way it is not totally useless.
