This is one of the most interesting and original anime I've seen in a long time. Basically, the most pessimistic man in the world meets the most optimistic girl in the world, becomes her homeroom teacher and hilarity ensues. It makes fun of all of the classic anime stereotypes (super moe girl, stalker girl, anal retentive girl, etc.) while putting them in a new sort of light. It's also helped by the refreshing animation - it's definitely the most interesting anime, visually, that I have seen in a long time (see this and this) by using very saturated colors and patterns.
I just finished up season one and am starting Zoku. I thought the first episode of Zoku was brilliant, what with the way it makes you think it's completely different from the first season but ends up being a direct continuation.

And I can't believe I completely understood the first episode of Zoku the first time. I seriously remember something like of that plot I read online... (I think it was AnimeDB D;) ...and basically what happened is that people thought the fake manga summary was real.

I'd imagine a good third of the jokes don't make remote sense outside of the langauge or culture. Do translation notes drag it down or anything, by chance? I ended up going raw for a lot of this, as the sub groups were taking forever.

Did anyone notice how the OP in Zoku was slowly deteriorating (while becoming completed) each episode until it like...exploded in the second to last episode? Then you have the super special awesome finished colored OP with the Kaere slowly and flashing effects~!

But really; I love SZS. It is brilliant. The art style is amazing and the story is cracky, yet makes sense. (Sometimes.) Currently it's my second favorite manga and anime (behind FMA and Hayate no Gotoku! respectively.)
Actually, I think the translation notes were done really well. The sub groups did a great job of either adapting Japanese terms or making sure any notes flowed well with the rest.

and yes, what happened is that one group started it, didn't feel like finishing it, and another group translated a few later chapters
