Huh, what? No waaaaay... I don't think it's bad to follow the canon at all. (It bothers me when people think you have to like canon things only or else you aren't a true fan, even if you admit the things you like aren't canon, but that's a horse of a different color.) Although there's probably more out there that I'm just too lazy to find, since it's buried in the listings by all the Phoenix/Edgeworth.
In general I liked your fic, Hazri, although some of the dream sequencey parts seemed a little much (which sort of made me worry a little less about the characters when they were in bad situations because I knew they were going to get out of them okay), and more detail is always good. But everyone was really in-character, I thought, and I liked the way you portrayed their relationship.
You ended it so abruptly just because your heart wasn't in it anymore, correct? Where was it going, if I might ask, or was it intended all along to have a downer ending?

Few things
-if it's an 'Ace Attorney' doujinshi archive, are there going to be um, others? Main qualm with this is that, well, if we're only going to have doujinshis of this one pairing, it seems wrong to pitch the site as general for the series.
-I always thought Ace Attorney was a stupid localised name. [PHOENIX WRIGHT: Ace Attorney all the way. (Quick! restrain the crazed fangirl!)]
-The blue needs to be a different colour blue. These kind of blue

Yes. And also, one with them In Character as Phoenix and Maya, not just your random romantic couple with the labels Phoenix and Maya shoved onto them. Anyway, most of the fanfics on fanfic.net are depressing. Phoenix and Maya never see each other for 7 years and stuff *cries*. Only other place there's ever decent stories is the PW Kink Meme, but most of them are not exactly G-rated. See, we need the PW Cute Romantic Fluff Meme.

1. The general visual of the site got changed to something a bit more appealing. Try the new demo out, but don't leak the link just yet, at least until I finish setting everything up (still gotta come up with some system to display the actual doujin pages).
2. Yes, I plan on including other doujinshi contributed to the site, not just the Nick/Maya I keep translating.
3. I don't exactly plan on having anything else in the site.
4. Ace Attorney... well, it's what the translators gave us. =p
5. That's not exactly white; it's the fleshy color used for the answer options to questions in the games, as well as the font color. I tried to reproduce the feeling as close as possible.
6. If you want, I can host the Evidence List for you. >_> But don't tell anyone. I'm also grabbing some screenies from the games to support the quotes you mention in the List as well.

Hmmmm, I'm not really involved in the doujin archive site idea, but... what about a general Phoenix/Maya archive? You could have fanarts and fanfics for my fellow too-lazy-to-wade-through-everything-elsers, and the doujinshi there too. If I'm getting this right, the site is kind of an excuse to put the scanlations of Cursor's doujin up without making it obvious that scanlations are the purpose of the site, and maybe this would be a good opportunity to make Phoenix/Maya fanfic and fanart easy to find. I don't know anything about site-building, though, so if this is impractical or just a stupid idea, I wouldn't really know.

Having an actual archive of fanart and fanfic would be, um a lot of work with the databases? and stuff. However, a list of links to some fanart sites and maybe to external fanfics might be easier.
Now, people who write Phoenix/Edgeworth are usually doing it because they like the pairing and its dynamic specifically, whereas as you mentioned, sometimes people tack Phoenix and Maya into their general fic. Also, I think these same people like the pairing in a more generic sense simply because they are the two main characters, rather than for the actual awesomeness their relationship entails. So they write them as a stereotypical main character couple? Thirdly, Phoenix/Edgeworth fans on average are older [due to the fantastic lure of Yaoi] and, for that matter, female, whereas the majority of fans of this pairing appear to be male for some reason. I think this is partly because a lot of female fans get attached to this series in the emotively Edgeworth-centric case 1-4, where this pairing is not apparent and Phoenix/Edgeworth is a lot more implied, and never give it up, and those who don't like that pairing might like the 'romantic' Phoenix/Iris pairing, which, in many ways, is actually the opposite of Phoenix/Maya.

I know that yaoi pairings tend to have more ladies in their fandom because, well, duh. But I didn't know they were the older crowd, too. From the people I know, it's pretty evenly split among het only, slash only, and "either is fine, just depends on the pairing". Unless I count myself... then "either is fine, just depends on the pairing" narrowly wins. And I thought Maya would have more appeal to the girl half of the fanbase then Iris for some reason, namely Maya being less "perfect", but maybe they like the way Phoenix behaves toward Iris as a romanticy thing? I dunno, I'm a girl but I guess I don't go with the pairings everyone else does.

Icer, love, don't worry about databases and stuff; I'm keeping everything as efficient, cost-effective and lightweight as I possibly can, which is saying a lot. Plus, I'm not really hosting the doujin pages at my server; I'm leeching them off my Photobucket account, which is what I plan to do for all. =p
For fan fiction, I'd personally suggest publishing it somewhere and giving me the link to post on the site, or potentially saving them as text files and posting them on the site -- depends on what I deem to be less raping for my bandwidth. For the art, maybe a separately managed Photobucket account -- or massive hosting at ImageShack.

For instance, I scanned and posted a P/E doujin a while back, but then had to remove it because I got a reply from someone in Japan who didn't like it (Further investigation revealed that the circle who did it doesn't like their doujin to be scanned and posted. I am not certain if it was the circle who posted it, but I rather try to keep my nose clean). I think just sticking with translated works will be fine, just as long as you link to the circle's site.

Because I plan on first building a big enough collection of translated doujinshi, and THEN splitting part of the site to focus on the Nick/Maya relationship alone. But in the end, Hold It itself is and will be what's advertised -- an Ace Attorney scanslated doujinshi site, with a SLIGHT inclination and preference towards the Nick/Maya pairing, but with equal open chances for everyone.And now that you mention it, I should add a new field to the doujin definition specification, indicating what pairings are focused in each story. I'll probably do it later tonight or early tomorrow.

Yeah, that could be a problem.. but the categories, probably sections for different pairings would be best.
Also, the authors not liking it is another problem if you have lots of different authors' (I really can't see why some don't like English translations though. Not liking the Japanese version distributed is more obvious.) Got to keep under the Japanese radar.

Phoenix/Edgeworth is kind of the default fangirl's ship in the series.. and I think that people who don't like that kind of ship are on average more likely to prefer the substantially different (and slightly stereotypical) Phoenix/Iris type of premise. I think Maya herself has more appeal to the fanbase, but a lot of the females she appeals to more also like Phoenix/Edgeworth better. [Actually, some of the appealing elements of Phoenix/Edgeworth are also present in Phoenix/Maya.. I think the two pairings are more similar to each other than the Iris one.]

Not so much of the plot premise [since as always, I was writing to a prompt, and they requested that plot, which is kind of an AU I guess] but of the characterisation and stuff.

Also, the translation for Lost Lamb is gonna have to wait -- I recently got an urgent project from some friends and will have to dedicate my entire time to that, and that's not mentioning 3d-b apparently has his/her obsessive like of damn-ass tough to find kanji, so it's been made even slower 'cause of that. One of the reasons why I personally love translating CURSOR -- his kanji are all usually pretty easy and quick to the eye. =p Still, I'll be making an effort to advance with LL.

As for going home for like, half a day, well, probably they wanted to watch that Steel Samurai episode, eat a few (I mean, lots) of burgers or anything else.
About the Special Courses... who told that they can't do it multiple times to increase spiritual power? We don't know too much details about the training anyway, so I took some liberties :)
The poker game in the detention center thing may seem weird, yeah, I thought about that too, but then where else would they be playing? Zak is already arrested that time, and I doubt they'd let him out for a game.
Oh yes, taking Zak's case. I always wondered why would he do that. My guess is that the after reading the court record, the case seemed easy, and Phoenix did believe Zak (I made him do the Psyche-lock test, too, and we know that Phoenix's personality, defending the innocent... after all, that's why he even became a lawyer... Taking Maggey's case in 2-1 wasn't so much different than Zak's... except the fact that Zak is a jerk, but Phoenix doesn't know that yet).
I'm gonna write the second part soon, in a couple of days (but now my priority is drawing my caricatures). I'm thinking about writing that one from Maya's POV, I'm not entirely sure yet.
