I'd like to know what the hell they mean by playing Guitar Hero being funny. It sounds interestingly delicious.

I like both series. I really don't think one is better or worse. They do things differently. Rock Band's interface is a lot more streamlined, simple, and modern looking. Guitar Hero is very rough and garage band-y. I think GH's interface edges out a bit, though, and has a bit more character, at least in GH1 and 2. I side a lot with the people that hate GH3. I don't HATE it; I love the track list almost as much as GH2, but the game really annoys me with the blatant advertising, the crippled PS2 edition, and the stupid "sexy" poledancers. It kind of proves that the target audience is a bunch of 13 year old boys that think hXc is still cool and women half-naked are automatically hot. The Axe guitars are unnecessary. And PS2 users got raped up the wazoo; no online or DLC (hey, what's that yellow port on the back of the console? Is it Ethernet? I think it is!)

Both games have really fun tracks. Rock Band has a bit easier tracks and the fun Big Rock Endings. Of course, on Easy Medium and Hard, GH is pretty easy too, but Expert is good for the players that really want a challenge. GH is only a bit too tough at the end; I have three songs I haven't passed on Expert and I'm missing about six 5 stars between GH2 and GH3 (curse you Raining Blood!). But that challenge is really what makes us keep going and trying harder and harder.

However, as similar as GH and RB are, there's no contest for the controllers. Strats are AWFUL. A floppy whammy bar, a squishy and silent strum bar, and clicky frets that are way to close kill the controller for me. I do my best playing on an original SG controller and it's wonderful. I hope it never dies. I'll be really sad if i does and I'll probably hold a funeral for it. :(

Being someone who doesn't even own rock band or guitar hero I'm going to side with rock band =\

It's true, the two games have their big differences and they have their similarities... of course their similarities come from (If my information is correct) the fact they were both made by the same company, but then the company (who now currently is marketing Rock Band) didn't have enough money to release both of the games.. and even with dropping one they would have trouble getting a good amount of cash to release the other, so they sold the rights to Guitar Hero. After that it's been an all out war over getting more people to play their games.

Though looking at Guitar Hero it makes me start to think it aims more for the people who really want to just stand infront of a band and play guitar, or those 13 year olds like Pieman said =P ... also fanboys who want to play not a guitar.. BUT A GIANT AXE! :eh?:

I would choose Rock Band personally, because of the game play (It's easier to see a square or lines reach a ending point than a circle....) and also just because the idea of drums and a singer showing that it's more of a party game rather than a sit in your basement perfecting that solo (though you still can).

Also, for the newer ones, I would still choose Rock Band because a game that has had time to perfect these extra additions to the game play versus a game that appears to be using these because they were a smash hit with their competitors.. I would choose the first one

If you don't own either, how in the world would you know which one to advocate for? :eh?:

See, I don't really analyze these kinds of things because it's more a matter of opinion than anything else. I personally enjoy playing GH3 a lot more than Rock Band, but the latter is admittedly entertaining too. Also, for practical purposes, the guitar controller for RB was horribly confusing, and not just because I was used to GH's. It was poorly designed, in my humble opinion. I also liked GH3's track list more than Rock Band's. It all boils down to what you like. As with anything, there's no definitive fact regarding the quality of these games. There are many people who enjoy games that would be widely considered terrible.

Well, that's just my two cents. And I myself am thirteen, by the way. :P

Yeah that's really what it comes down to... I just thought that Rock Band was more of a group game because in my opinion (Let it be known I like playing the drums in Rock Band) it's if you like playing with a group of people, alone or with a max of two people, and Rock Band adds more variety for that situation. Hence why I like Rock Band.

The new Guitar Hero is going to be like a Rock Band...then you got Rock Band II coming out about the same time.

The people doing Guitar Hero only have one game under their belt for this particular system and this will be the first time they will use more than one instrument.

The people at Rock Band have Guitar Hero I/II and a few random ones as well as Rock Band, and they are doing Rock Band II. The system had few flaws in it, which I am sure they will take care of. Besides, the only reason why Guitar Hero IV will have more than one instrument is because if they don't they will lose sales to Rock Band...

So...if I could only buy one of those games...it will be Rock Band II. Obvious choice. Then again, that is just me.

For me it depends on who has the better setlist and It has always been Rock band for me.

Also since that I've seen the setlists for both Rock band 2 and Guitar Hero World tour, I will be purchasing Rock band 2 when it comes out, since its got the setlist that suits me ^^.
