T&T has arrived in the European Union at long last! Stock is already scarce even though it's just been released - the best place to look is your local GAME store. (In fact, they may be the only retail chain selling the game right now.)

Happy hunting for your copy, EU members!

EDIT: We work fast! The audio page has been updated with European voice clips at last!
Does we even do these things anymore?

This post is reserved for archiving the differences and unusual elements of the EU versions of the game. Please post anything unusual or different from the US version here, whichever language your version is in. This post will be editted and updated as new information is discovered and reported.

Current Known Facts (EU UK):
  • The UK version is a partially corrected replica of the US version
  • The UK version of the game does not have any language options, unlike AA1 and JFA
  • Spellings remain in American English, which makes sense considering the game is set in America in the UK localisation, too

Spoiler: 3-1 - Turnabout Memories
  • In the UK version, Payne correctly identifies the Union Jack as the flag of the United Kingdom - in the US version, he incorrectly states that it is the flag of England
  • The Judge's "evidence accepted into Court Record" lines, which were often typo-ridden in the US version, have been rewritten in the UK version

Spoiler: 3-2 - The Stolen Turnabout
  • Lots of minor typos during this case were NOT corrected, so the UK localisation update is not flawless
  • On the other hand, the reasonably well-known "blackmail thread" error was corrected...
  • ...as was the even more well-known "Pedo Judge" typo - corrected to "when you were a child"

Spoiler: 3-3 - Recipe for Turnabout
  • [No changes found.]

Spoiler: 3-4 - Turnabout Beginnings
  • [No changes found.]
  • Interestingly, that means there was also no editting out of the blood in this case.

Spoiler: 3-5 - Bridge to the Turnabout
  • [No changes found.]

Current Known Facts (EU FR):
  • Doug Swallow - "Patrick Hauméot" - meaning "Patrick You're-crazy"(?)
  • Dahlia Hawthorne - "Dahlia Plantule" - meaning "Dahlia Seedling"
  • "Mr. Wry" - "M. White"
  • Ivy. U - "Henri Baucout"
  • Coldkiller X - "Pludrum X" - meaning "No-more-cold X"
  • Terry Fawles - Régis Florimet (read last name before : sounds like "Fleury-Mérogis", a French commune, near Paris, hosting a prison)
  • Ron DeLite - Henri Duplaisir ("Du plaisir" means "Pleasure")
  • Desirée DeLite - Désirée Duplaisir (same as above)
  • Luke Atmey - Matt Moissat (Sounds like "Mate-moi ça !", which usually means "Look at that" when you show something you're proud of)
  • Glen Elg - Marc Ram (A palindrome too; Ram may be a reference to Random Access Memory : he's a programmer, after all ^^)
  • In the French version, "Très Bien" becomes an Italian restaurant named "Bellissima"; the chef is no longer named "Jean Armstrong" but "Luigi Labocca" instead - La Bocca means "the mouth" in Italian.
  • Kane Bullard - Ken Bullard
  • Ace _______ - As des...
  • "Dessy" - "Désie"
  • "Ronny" - "Riton"
  • "Nicky Boy" - "Nicky Baby"
  • "Trite" - "Light"
  • Lordly Tailor - Les Galeries de France
  • KB Security - KB Sécurité
  • Glen Elg - Marc Ram - a possible reference to computer RAM
  • Viola Cadaverini - Violette Cadaverini ("Viola" may have been inappropriate in French)
  • Tender Lender - Sandouille-Crédit — "Sandouille" sounds like "Andouille"; if someone calls you "andouille" then they are calling you a moron
  • Vitamin Square - Le parc des vitamines
  • Valerie Hawthorne - Valérie Plantule
  • Eagle River - Rivière Aigle

Current Known Facts (EU DE):
  • In German, Godot calls Phoenix "Mr. Breit" - "breit" usually means broad but it is often used as a synonym for "drunk" or "stoned"
  • "Coldkiller X" is known as "Hustenkiller X", meaning "Coughkiller X"
  • "Tender Lender" is known as "NettKredit", meaning "nice loan/credit"
  • "Gutsen Brawn" is known as "Aiermit Muckis", roughly meaning "balls with muscles"
  • 3-1 = "Wandel der Erinnerung", which means "Turnabout of Reminiscence"
  • 3-2 = "Der gestohlene Wandel", which means the exact same
  • 3-3 = "Wandel nach Rezept", which means "Turnabout made with a recipe"
  • 3-4 = "Der ursprüngliche Wandel", which means "The primal turnabout"
  • 3-5 = "Brücke zum Wandel", which means the exact same
    Spoiler: 3-1
  • Instead of referring to Mia (and Ron once, too) as "kitten", the word got changed individually. Godot now calls Mia "Mieze", which means a female cat. The word is much less cute than "kitten" and is seen as a flirty and lascivious word.
    Spoiler: 3-2
  • Godot now calls Ron "guter Junge", which means "good boy" and considering the way he talks to Ron, it's most likely used in the way it's used for a well-behaving dog.
    Spoiler: 3-5
  • "Gravely roast the master in the fires of Hades" becomes "Möge die Meisterin in den Feuern des Hades braten". "braten" is the verb for "roast", but with an capital b, it means something which has been roasted. So the German version doesn't directly connect to the gravy - Instead it goes for the connection between "braten" and "Bratensauce", which means gravy.

Current Known Facts (EU ES):
  • In Spanish, Godot calls Phoenix "Phoenix Light"
  • "Tender Lender" is known as "El Buen Prestamista", meaning "The Good Lender"
  • "Coldkiller X" is known as "Sincatarrín X", meaning "no more cold", literally "Without Cold X" ("catarrín" comes from "catarro", which means "(a) cold")
  • 3-1 = El caso recordado (lit. The Remembered Turnabout)
  • 3-2 = El caso robado (lit. The Stolen Turnabout)
  • 3-3 = Receta para un caso (lit. Recipe for a Turnabout)
  • 3-4 = El caso del comienzo (lit. The Turnabout of the Beginning, The Beginning Turnabout)
  • 3-5 = Puente para el caso (lit. Bridge to the Turnabout)

Current Known Facts (EU IT):
  • In Italian, "ColdKiller X" has become "AmmazzaRaffreddore"

Does we even do these things anymore?

Mia's "Take that" in german sounds pretty weird, but the objection is fine.
You need to get used to Godot's voice, too.
I didn't hear Edgeworth's new spoken lines yet.
In German Godot calls Phoenix "Mr. Breit". Breit usually means broad but it is often used as a synonym for "drunk" or "stoned".

Huh? I found it French/German, Spanish/Italian AND British in a game store. Even the ROMs have been released! (Disclaimer: I searched for the ROMs to see if it was released, so please, this is only for checking. Not for offering ROMs.)

I looked in GAME and still haven't got it! I've waited for this moment like a year!

I'm just glad I've already played it once...

Also, AJ didn't have any language options.

Yeah, but AJ had more sprites, more detailed sprites, more CG animations, 3D things and all.

Mr. Breit XXXD...!!!
But on the second thought ... I'm glad they came up with a translation. I couldn't think of any. Ah, I want to hear the German voices ;_;! But I already ordered the American version x_x. Perhaps I'll manage to force one of my friends to buy it >D.

...oh, and my deepest sympathy to those Germans who didn't buy the U.S. version and now have to wait ONE WHOLE DAY - it's national holiday, after all. Nah, just kidding, after THAT long time one more day doesn't make any difference, I think.
[Edit: Okay, a friend of mine just told me that the shops are opened, at least in her hometown o_ô.]

No more waiting for Godot :D!
[Thank God for inner monologue.]

Just a quick note Nintendo official magazine (which is Nintendo power in the UK) rated it 85%
they said the gameplay is nothing new (well of course it was the GBA version!)
and they put a time line in but go the whole thin wrong
they put bridge to turnabout before turnabout memories
I was 17 when I joined this forum. During this time I participated in a thread that made light of sexual assault and event making jokes about it. I didn't think much of it at the time other than portraying a villain. I am older, looking back see how unacceptable & disgusting. I removed the comments because I do not wish to condone this behaviour. But of course fragments remain. I can only apologise for any hurt of distress caused.

UK Amazon seems to be out of stock *curse* So mean, I pre-ordered, but it hasn't been send yet. I had the same trouble with the Official Case Files manga, but luckily I changed the order.

*mopes* Now I'll have to wait... still, I'll have to finish Apollo first xD

In some Italian shops the game has been released two days ago!
Now I'm playing the first case, and I have to say the translation is pretty good, but I'm so curious to see how is Mr. Trite or Ace Detective in Italian. I'm sure that pop-culture references are lost.
Ah, ColdKiller X has become AmmazzaRaffreddore :payne:

THE SPANISH VOICES ARE TERRIBLE.
Why Godot's voice sounds so deep? God, his voice can't get any worse.
Why Mia's reminds me of Franziska's?

At least, the translation is good. I haven't finished the first case yet, but I think they've done a good job (except for one small typo...).

Mia's French voice is FANTASTIC! That is the sort of voice I expect to hear from Mia. A lot better than her 'Ubjection' English voice.

Her Italian voice comes a close second.

Her Spanish voice is like her English voice, doesn't suit her. She's not Franziska DAMN IT!

Her German voice isn't bad but could have been better.

Is it me or is Mia's voice acting really terrible in this game?

Also, the music sounds noticibly different to all my MP3's of the T&T soundtrack that I have.

I can't go into town until Tuesday, so I've still got to wait. And there's been no phone call saying they're in stock yet.

I was plesantly surprised yesterday morning when my copy arrived from GAME.co.uk after I got that stock email. ^__^

It was most fortunate too since this killer cold has me in such a state that I can barely speak and my nose is like a dripping tap, so it has been court session all day! :D

I love the quirky reference to a certain country that I live in the beginning and the dialogue is top quality as always. Just finished case one and will definetly try to slowdown and savour the remaining cases.

Happy Trials and Tribulations bank holiday European fellas. :D

Rubbish. My GAME store hasn't recieved any stock AND they don't know when any will be in! I'm so pissed annoyed!

I take it back. I got it a day after the release date. It's awesome. I'm on case 2 already.

Way to go, Yukio!

I can't go into town until Tuesday, so I've still got to wait. And there's been no phone call saying they're in stock yet.

Don't bother with phone calls. They never called me, and I went into get it, regardless.

Is it me or is Mia's voice acting really terrible in this game?

Also, the music sounds noticibly different to all my MP3's of the T&T soundtrack that I have.

The soundtrack songs are the GBA versions, aren't they? Correct me if I'm wrong.
